xbox live enforcement policy

Well, today I suddenly got banned from communication , which means voice chat and messaging. A 24 hour ban, no warning, nothing, just a message that I should check my email.

There it says that I used some swear words or something, probably because I called some random teammates an idiot on magic duels.

Well, you have to understand that these matches can take a long time (2hours), but mostly it's about a halfhour to an hour and on xboxlive it takes ages to find a match.

Now you can get better in this game by playing better but having better cards does help a lot. You unlock better cards by spending money and/or earning in game coins.

Some people that don't know the game very well team up with better players like myself to earn coins because they can't win. They can however play against the computer , do quests all those thing to earn coins as well

It's very frustrating for experienced players to team up with these noobs, because you simply lose because of them. The AI (which is extremely bad) is even better than them.

I just wonder, does playstation has the same regulations. I might just want to go full playstation , but of course after I notified somebody from xbox support they just lost a customer. A pretty good customer because I spend thousands of dollars yearly on xbox live.

I can understand the regulations, I cannot understand the fact I have not been warned whatsoever.

I think I'm going to play this game on the pc anyway, takes ages to find a match on xbox.

I don't have problems being rude to others online. I can get frustrated sometimes, but I don't feel the need to tell that to the other players online via text or through the mic. It's juvenile.

It does worry me in intense matches (GeoW/Street Fighter/Halo/COD/Sports/RTS/etc) when someone loses and they get so angry they decide to lie and report the victor as a cheater or whatever. The old system definitely had that kind of abuse from salty players/teeny boppers. That will always be around, but if you keep your nose clean, in theory we should be fine.

@commander: look up Xbox enforcement and log into the site. It'll show exactly how many time you were reported and why. One offense doesn't get you banned. You probably have a bunch. Plus they look into reports before banning. I have 12 against me but it was salty people. I'm never rude and I play fair so I've never been banned.

I love the regulations. Keeps trolls like you in line.

I'm not trolling, you have to realize that these people know they ruin half the games of the experienced players because they don't have enough cards and experience. They should play one on one more before going into 2hg

I cannot see who reported me, probably because the ban isn't lifted yet.

You had to do a lot more than call someone an idiot to get banned on XBL or PSN.

You really have to be going at it to the point that you annoy or offend people.

Even then it needs to be reported by multiple people before they ban.

Blame the people you played with, not the service

Tc did more than call someone an idiot and either way a 24hr ban from COMMUNICATION is a pretty stupid thing to whine about.

no i didn't, don't know where this would be coming from at all, besides that. However I have been sending the message idiot to a lot of people , pretty much anyone that ruined by game by you know, being an idiot in the game.

@commander: still. i've been an asshole plenty of times throughout my 12 years on XBL and I've never been banned or had a warning or anything. So I can't even imagine how insufferable you have to be to get a communications ban.

can't it doesn't do anything (the box next to enforcment united) the news and other stuff works though.

well all I have been doing is calling maybe 10 people an idiot on magic duels because they were just ruining the game.

I have seen a lot of complaints on the forums from this policy though, apparenlty this is done by users. not paid professionals.

it says that function is not available because i have been banned, however when i click on it it does show my enforcement history, which is a 24 hour ban because of inapproperiate behaviour, like harrassing , using swear words, spreading slander, obscene or illegal material.

I can see my reputation on a other box, but I can't click on it (that reputation is green btw)

I though I saw on the site it's been done by users. when you go to another site of enforcement you can apply to be a part of this team. So i presume this is done by users.

@commander: users don't control bans. All they really do is help to report offensive gamer tags but even then all ban decisions are MS employees only. You think MS would let users ban each other lol

I don't know, seems silly i got banned over this, I don't think i deserve it actually, it's not like i threaten or purposely harrased someone. But of course if this is terms of service I understand this, but a warning should have been more fitting.

Did you send the guy a message or something? I've gotten a 24hr comm ban cause got some messages from a guy bitching and whining about me winning. He was stupid I kinda offensively informed him that he was stupid. He messaged me back and said "that's all I wanted enjoy your ban". I was like whatever man, 3 days later I had a 24 hour comm ban. So I don't send vulgar or offensive messages all that much anymore.

Maybe you should start sending them words of encouragement for now on! :D

@commander: not silly. It's one of the reasons xbox live is so great. Because people who can't behave or think it's not a big deal to berate others get punished

Well that makes me a special, special kind of arsehole then as i've been banned twice :P

First ban was for having inappropriate vinyls on my cars on Forza 3, i got a total 24hr ban from signing into my account and i think a weeks ban from using the auction house lol.

My second ban was for a week where i couldn't sign into my account because i have something funny written in my bio, which again was inappropriate lol.

I heard first ban was 24hrs, second 1 week and third a month without being able to sign into your account, MS must have changed it on the last updated T&C's.

The xbone is aimed towards kids so they enforce this type of stuff like harmless swear words more heavily. PSN is aimed at more mature people so you won't find a problem there. TLHBO

You won't find a problem on PSN because they have a shit infrastructure, lack of staff and moderation control over their network.

since you can block users and hide your profile you don't need this kind of moderation.

If you can't call people idiots if they act like one on a gaming platform then I'm probably on the wrong gaming platform. It's not like I'm harrassing those people. Besides it's not like I did this every other day, maybe this happened once every two weeks the last 6 months. The problem only started when you could earn coins with 2 vs 2.

On the other hand if they are evenly good at monitoring cheaters, then I can put up with the strict comms.

Whether or not it's the reason for this, you can't go around calling people idiots. Even if they're not up to your skill level.

I don't think I've ever reported someone for saying something like that, but that can happen. Being banned sucks. We've all been there at one point or another.

It ain't easy getting banned for that on Xbox Live. You must be one big fat liar on SW.

Your teammates wer prob sick of you swearing and having a bad temperment so they reported you for sure.

Also it's just 24 hours, and no warns needed, you accepted the rules.

see that's the thing maybe it's because i'm european but i'm not offended by that. Either way my ban is lifted, if this is the way the cookie crumbles then I'll just follow the rules.

I'm pretty sure it's in their ToS somewhere just like how PSN price could go up without warning. Here check out http://www.xbox.com/en-US/Legal/CodeOfConduct Xbox Live is pretty robust and have levels and categories that help you choose who to play with. It's best to never leave bad messages to anyone on any service because if it's written, it will be recorded. Just yell at your TV, lol.

I'm a big believer in, I'm personally responsible for my side of the street, if you get my meaning. Are things going to be unfair sometimes? Of course, nobody should fool themselves into believing that life will always be fair and just. But I have found that if I just do my best to live by integrity-doing the right thing because it is right, not because I will be noticed or be rewarded, then I get treated good for the most part.

calling someone an idiot is not enough to get you banned. berating multiple players in every game will though

Take a chill pill and don't shout at people, not really a difficult thing to do. Shouting and abusing others on the internet is a complete waste of energy and does nothing but get you banned, upsets you more than the other person and then ends up with another pointless rant at a customer support person (who can't help you anyway) and a longer, or even permanent, ban.

Then just to add insult to injury you come here and tell everyone, who then collectively think you're a muppet, which gets you even more upset.
