You know somethin.. Ive been thinking about making a topic like this for weeks now but ive been afraid I would get "owned" but i dont care, this has to be said.. Who really cares about half the features xbox live has?!? I mean seriously, Acheivements for instance, whats the point?!? I could maybe see the point if you could use gamerpoints to purchase stuff but come on, they do nothing!! And being able to watch a movie and chat at the same time, Who really sits there and chats with a friend while watching a movie?! lets see what else is pointless about xbox live, adding friends, I have tons of friends on my list and i havent talked to any of them in ages. The funny thing about it is, when I play my 360 I only use the same features the PS3 offers and that is to get in a online game and just play! but the only difference is.. IM PAYING FOR XBOX live!BigBoss5777

I pretty much agree with what you have said, but having a friends list is good, it's your problem if you don't talk to them.

Exactly, how is a friends list pointless? I think that is one of the most useful features. If i wanna play with a friend, i can see if he's on and what game and such, I can talk to overseas friends who have left my country and play against them, If i meet someone new who i would like to play with again because we make a great team, why not add him? I always use my friends list.1. I use the feature how I can talk to a friend playing a differant game all the time. I have friends that have moved outta this area and someties its nice to catch up in private chat while we each do our own thing.
2. Unified friends lists are huge. I turn on my 360 and see what heads are doing. So and so are playing NBA 2k or Marvel or Spades or Gears or Rainbow or PGR or whatever. Makes having huge games with all your friends that much easier and also leagues and whatnot. I can also play something else (Oblvion or whatever) and wait and see when all my Gears or rainbow buddys jump on and then go join them.
3. I think achievements are fun, but not essentail. I did just win a bunch of free stuff by raising my gamerscore though.
4. Having Voice chat in every game is huge. Team work requires communication. And if you dont want to use voice you dont need to. If you are a lone wolf you can just play ranked. With no fear of being booted because in ranked matches you cant be booted.
5. Someone annoys you? with a couple a clicks you can avoid them for the entire time you have a 360 and in every single game. Someone you would like to play with ? couple clicks and prefer them and more chance you will play with them again in the future. Or if you really like them send a friends
XBL gaming owns.

IM PAYING FOR XBOX live!BigBoss5777I use most of the things live has to offer. Downloading movie trailers in HD, Demos, Friends list is brilliant, it saves on phone bills when talking to close mates and it's a good way to meet people from over seas, I'd probably think all Americans were over competative lound mouths not just some of them if it wasn't through meeting some decent guys online. probably the only thing I don't use live for is downloading music, partly because the stuff on there's sh** and partly because through having live my pc's connected to my xbox so I can listen to the music on that.

I heard PSN can't even allow you to communicate with other gamers, if true I'd sooner pay the what, $1 a week it is to own xbox live.

I actually agree with this, not on achievements and friends lists but pretty much everything else. I hate hearing the argument that "Well I can play a game, chat with a friend playing a different game, listen to my choice of music, download HD Movies and check out what my friends are playing all at the same time". Yeah, I guess this is possible, why anyone would want to is beyond my comprehension though. echelonThe reason people would want to is because if like myself who have close friends and work mates on live, when I get online start playing a game then my mate happens to turn his on, I can keep playing the death match I'm in whilst asking him if he wants a game on what he's playing when I've finished then see what map he's playing on to make sure it's not one he's good at then ask if he's coming pub later, And I can do all this with out having to use my phone bill calling him.

If your that concerned about your phone bill why don't you switch to Vontage. Nah seriously though on the PSN you can send your friend messages and even talk to them(in Resistance via headset). PSN is not up to Lives level but it's free and farely new so what do you exspect.
i use live to download demos, see what my friends doing, and may play a few games on it but other than that live have too much stuff for a average user, and I think gamer themes should be free period!xboxps2cubePictures too....
So basically what this guy is saying is: "Why do I have all this extra functionality?" Why would anyone turn down extra functionality? I don't use the web browser on my Wii or PS3, so what? I don't go and rail against it because I don't use it.DaysAirlines

What is your Gamertag?
Let's give him a few hours to call up his friends and make an account on their 360.it's funny you bash xbox live for having more features when the ps3 has features most can't use... ie; 1080p...

I always use my friends list. They don't realize, you just can't join your buddies game on PSN, like you can on live. I mean you can send game invites, you can join your friends if they send you an invite to a different game. Thats a very small part of what makes Live ten times better than PSN as a service.I actually agree with this, not on achievements and friends lists but pretty much everything else. I hate hearing the argument that "Well I can play a game, chat with a friend playing a different game, listen to my choice of music, download HD Movies and check out what my friends are playing all at the same time". Yeah, I guess this is possible, why anyone would want to is beyond my comprehension though. echelonI respect your opinion, but there are alot of people out there who do like doing everything mentioned above. Most people multitask when doing other things with computers, so why not gaming as well? Try to find college or high school kids that haven't browsed the internet, chatted on aim, and watched TV at the same time. Why not do that while gaming?
Besides, chatting with a friend playing another game while playing a game with a custom soundtrack and downloading something is actually something I've done quite frequently. I'm not saying I've done it intentionally, but if I'm downloading something and playing a single player game (yesterday it was burnout), often I'll listen to my own music. If one of my friends pops online its nice to be able to just click the guide button and send them a chat invite. While this may not be your cup of tea, I feel much more connected and immersed while playing games than I would if I was just sitting in silence waiting for my download to finish and having to call friends on my cell to talk to them.
So basically what this guy is saying is: "Why do I have all this extra functionality?" Why would anyone turn down extra functionality? I don't use the web browser on my Wii or PS3, so what? I don't go and rail against it because I don't use it.DaysAirlinesNo what he is saying is why are all these extras that are not as important to gaming free while the main reason to have online for gaming, meaning play games online, cost money. While another console has many of these same functions and the most important part free. I have to agree.
Again, what is your Gamertag?
Why is this such a difficult question for you to answer? Anyone can see you're still online and reading this thread.
