You can either:

A) Game online on a PC with a strong, mature community for free;with admins unbounded by corporate rules to and the ability to ban annoying, uncooperative, and selfish players as well as exploiters and cheaters..with players working together unanimously toward a universal goal.

B) Pay to game online with Xbox Live on anonymous servers void of a community and admins, with immature, uncooperative and prepubescent players abound, unable to complete even the most basic of goals.

I pick A. :P

You're entitled to your opinion. But the magic of PC-online gaming is that you get to pick both A and B.

It depends where you look. It is easy to find a server well-run with dedicated admins, with a trigger-happy ban finger.

Along with the one person at my school that experiences the magic(who we all hate)? I think I'll just stick with B.

No, I'm saying with PC online, they give the community the option of banning annoying players with privately run servers with dedicated admins.

Is that the only part you guys read?

You misunderstand. I love Halo. It is a great game with friends, but I draw the line there. I have had little good to say about my experiences online in the past and present.

Yeah admins are worse than the idiots on most servers. The truth is good games have communities, no matter what.

Call of Duty 2 my friend.

I think everybody was just drugged by the novelety of the 360 though, for it did not carry over into COD3.

Not quite I have played Xboxlive for awhile at my friends house.. I seem to come across far worse on that network then I have had on PC gaming.. Don't get me wrong though there are some pretty terrible communitesi out there.. But thats the thing.. Xboxlive is one community and the PCgaming is many.

It is possible that I've been lucky in my experience with the PC and unlucky with Xbox Live. But Xbox Live can never provide a community on the same level as Unreal Tournament, Team Fortress,Counterstrike beta (1.3) and hopefully Teamfortress 2.

Xfire > live

Tuxified

I generally agree. But that has little to do with Steam and Xfire, and more because of the ability to create private servers.

I like both, but XBOX live is the most convenient solution for online gaming. Plus not every pc game is free or shares the same community.

I meant comparing a console game's online service (Hands down the best one ever made available and still is) to a PC online? Isn't this thread to discuss PS3vs360vsWii?

It can be done with an xbox as well, although most of the 360 games are making it difficult so far. I imagine there will be a free alternative to xbox live in the near future.

I am not too sure with convience either.. With services such as Battle.net or Steam it really can't get any easier then that..

No, that would make it console wars. Though I think to truly have System wars, you have to discuss 360 vs.Ps3 vs.Wii vs.Windows vs. Mac.

Mac and Wii's are just about non existent.. ANd the PS3's isn't as high of quality as either the PC and Xbox360 when it comes to their online service.. Whats to discuss of the others?
