So, Xbox making their multiplat announcement official is likely a thing now. As to how extensive it will be, we don't know yet. All we know is, buying tens of billions worth of pubs to make their content exclusive to Xbox is a thing that's VERY apparently not working out. Because social media cheerleading does not equal real life success. So, this content is going to have to appear on platforms that actually sell to make this worthwhile.

It's so weird they have to make this announcement so far off. Just rip the band-aid already. There will be much whinging and gnashing of teeth, so it's cruel to make this as prolonged as possible. We're ready for the shit show, give it to us already! 😂

Most of us had access to Xbox games day and date with PC a long time ago, but this is WAY different. It's more like PS console owners' reward was sticking with Playstation and getting the best of all worlds. So, where do the goalposts move now? I feel like it's only bad news if it somehow means there will be less competition among platforms.

As long as MS gives people good reason to pick an Xbox console over the competition, and that the competition is able to provide a like proposition to entice gamers onto their platform, then that seems healthy to me. Ideally there should be multiple good options that feel satisfying when the choice is made.

I never asked if OP was an alt account. Are you getting confused? The OP is BenjaminBanklin, and I referred to whether EnergyAbsorber was your alt. I even followed up with stating that they had minimal recent posts to which you both interacted within a couple of minutes of one another. Neither of which could refer to BenjaminBanklin.

The inference is found within my statement that daresdevil2k made a statement and EnergyAbsorber responded within a couple of minutes. That would rule out BenjaminBanklin, as he hasn't posted recently, nor does he post once every 1-2 months.

same.. I personally enjoyed HiFi Rush and spent countless hours in Sea of Theives.. if the rumors are true, hopefully more people get to play these games.. 👍

that said, Microsoft defnitely needs to be clear on their intentions..

because just the rumors of a shadow-dropped AA title and a Live Service game going to Nintendo and/or PlayStation has caused the internet to translate that to "Xbox is going 3rd party".. and like it or not, false/negative narratives can set the course for an entire generation.. (look no further than the Xbox One)

if they are only putting small AA titles like HiFi Rush and Ori on other consoles, they need to be clear on that.. If Live Service games like Sea of Thieves and Minecraft are fair game for other consoles, they need to be clear on that.. and if they are going full 3rd party and we can expect to see the next Halo on PS6, they need to be clear on that..

just saying "case by case basis" isn't going to be enough in my opinion..

because, in terms of the end-user, consumers are investing in the Xbox ecosystem and they should be aware of the variables with that investment.. if indeed a gamer can evenutally play all Xbox games natively on a PlayStation console, consumers should be informed about that..

at any rate, silence on something like this is deafening because if they wait long enough, it won't matter what they announce.. the "Xbox is going 3rd party" narrative will already have been firmly established on social media and it's too-little-too-late at that point..

Sea Of Thieves and Halo could really benefit from a bigger audience on PS5.

Phil and Co. have been watching the competition. Game Pass has stalled as has the PC adoption. Putting Xbox games on PlayStation and Nintendo, where consumers CLEARLY have no issues paying full price for video games is clearly next move. Xbox gamers get the games on Game Pass. Xbox gets 70% of the revenue from sales on other platforms. The hardware piece of the puzzle is the only part that doesn’t make much sense. Consoles are sold at a loss for years, followed by years of razor thin margins. I know it’s the flavor of the month to think consoles are going away, but consumer spending says otherwise. Does Xbox waste the money on another console generation? This rumored handheld?

I thought it was PlayStation that was half-assing their strategy this gen. It seems as if Xbox is flip flopping on their direction as well. It seems like they wanna go 3rd party but something is holding them back. ABK was down 10% last quarter. (pre merger vs holiday 2022). That may have accelerated things.
