Xbox One almost won 2017 holiday in the US, despite getting second place both months!

Based on known and leaked information from November and December, totals stack up like this:

Nintendo Switch: 2.3-2.4 million

PlayStation 4: 2.7-2.8 million

Xbox One: 2.7-2.8 million

Congrats Microsoft and Lemmings! Xbox One X is a success somewhere after all! Of course it was third place worldwide but it's still cool.

Edit: I have November numbers wrong. PS4 just barely won.

I'm just glad they are doing well so I can keep enjoying their products. The fact they are close to the market leader is great. Overall it seems all 3 consoles did well, and that is a good thing

PS4: 2.77M (~1.69M + 1.08M)

XB1: 2.745M (~1.38M + 1.365M)

NSW: 2.275M (~775K + 1.5M)

If Nintendo doesn't lose momentum it could happen in summer 2019, but it's a moving target. Hard to say, though the fact that Xbox really only does well in the US and semi-ok in the UK is going to hurt it. The only place Switch is a flop is Australia, and it's only okay in the UK.

The Switch was $550 upon release here in Australia, not sure of the price now, but its still high, and you can get the PS4 PRO for that price here, and you can get an XB1 for $299 with Minecraft, so its no wonder it hasn't done well here.

Yeah, I know. I hope that it gets a revival when the price drops, but with such a bad start it would probably need a relaunch. Maybe when there's a revision.

But that's a portable only gaming device, whereas the Switch is a hybrid, so I don't see a revision coming at all.

NES, SNES, and Wii also had smaller hardware revisions, and GameCube and Wii U had very minor revisions. I can see where you're coming from, but I personally disagree, especially since Nintendo is unlikely to launch another dedicated handheld but may need a smaller Switch someday, or might want to make one without a fan, or with more built-in storage, or better battery life.
