Maybe the Arcade games but the the full retail titles? I highly doubt that just on grounds that emulation requires a machine to be many times more powerful than the original box.
I don't see how someone who's employed at a retail Microsoft store (and my guess, only a hourly paid sales lead) could make such a credible call like that.
They aren't. This is game "journalism" at it's finest. In line with asking a Wal-Mart cashier about the corporation's global strategy for the 2014 sales year.I don't see how someone who's employed at a retail Microsoft store (and my guess, only a hourly paid sales lead) could make such a credible call like that.

After getting back into PC gaming, I feel like BC is a much bigger deal than many console gamers think.wolverine4262PC does not have BC..... PC platform didn't change to need something like that, theoretically you can run any software ever made for 32-bit PC on any PC. Ofcorse there system compatibility issues but that's matter of software setup and on Linux you can really run really old software there as there hardly anything removed from the Linux kernel

However, any game I buy on steam will still be playable on any future PC build I do which is effectively BC. Whereas all of my 360 games and arcade games will not be playable on the X1.

Either the retail Microsoft guy had some pretty amazing connections, or games journalism companies walked into a random store and paid off some guy to say something so they can make a story out of it.
Honestly, the only reason I want BC is bc of GTA V. It sucks that this game is coming out so late in the gen. If MS could figure a way to get that game to work on XBONE I would be grateful.
As someone who is developing games for next-gen, I haven't heard anything regarding this potential feature set being added onto the X1. Now, a SOC solution is definitely out of the question, so the only means would be through emulation (as seen on the 360).
It would probably be for a very select number of titles, and if the emulatioin support that the 360 gave to the OG Xbox is any indication, I imagine it'll stop being actively supported within 12 months. Also, with the gamestop deal in place for trade-ins of 360 games towards X1 versions lands the X1 game at $9.99, I don't know why MS would even bother.

Never cared about the lack of BC on either console. If I still wanted to play 360 games, I would still own a 360.darkspineslayerThese are my thoughts too on the whole BC aspect. I dont just throw away my old consoles. If I wanna play PS2, I take out my PS2...end of story.
Depends on if it's a corp store or a regular store. If it does happen the Xbox one will get tons of points. It's best to wait till release. around 3 months left!I don't see how someone who's employed at a retail Microsoft store (and my guess, only a hourly paid sales lead) could make such a credible call like that.

Yea but if it is backwards compatible, i get to put my 360 on ebay... and probably get at least 50 bucks out of it. Which in turn makes the xbox one effectively $50 cheaper.
Wow. When will MS stop embarrassing themselves with all this back tracking? Keep the system shitty, please.
