Xbox One exclusive D4 sales are reportedly very poor

That's really upsetting. I loved Deadly Premonition and am still looking forward to playing this game.

I have to say though, what the hell were Microsoft and Swery thinking? I know Deadly Premonition sold well on word-of-mouth but this is a first-party Xbox exclusive title! They should have advertised the crap out of it at E3, Gamescom, and Tokyo Game Show. Instead it disappeared and I thought it was coming out next year when they suddenly announced, "It's coming Friday!" the same week of announcing the release date.

they can't dump all the blame on advertising, I remember this clearly being one of the titles MS was touting for awhile before launch at events such as e3. No, the problem is it being a Kinect-centric game (even if it doesn't require it, it was designed with it in mind) and just being the wrong type of game for the system.

Not saying it would've done much better as a PS exclusive, but multiplat would've been the smart way to go. MS funded it, but from everything I read, they dug the grave themselves. Wanted to make a Kinect game and pitched to MS who accepted without even knowing the fanbase of these games.

The way the release date and such was handled was pretty stupid though, yeah.

Maybe they should make quality games and advertise them well.

Exactly, not many are prepared to drop $15 on a game they just heard about.

The game was announced at E3 and how many indie games had success without any marketing behind it? I can think of plenty that sold through word of mouth alone. A big percentage of the Xbox community just cares about shooters. How many made fun of "movie games" like D4?

Probably announce a PC version to make up the losses soon then.

The decision to launch the game at a moments notice without building up the launch doesn't make any sense at all..... I need to look into the game a little more to see what it is about. Perhaps a pity buy is in store.. then again, maybe that is what they are looking for, and this is the greatest marketing ploy EVER. My guess is that MS paid them a large chunk of change to try an alternative marketing method to see the reaction it gets.

10k is horrendous no matter how you look at it,and its especially bad considering this was a game with some hype and even had a big slot in MS conferences,I hope swery can save this by putting it on the PC and make some money.

it got 0 marketing, stealth release, niche game so its not surprising its selling bad. viva pinata took 2-3 years to sell 500k and that was a bigger budget game. only games that sell on xbox are shooters, this game would have sold better on ps4

A game which had its release date announced one day before the premiere, a game which is episodic in its structure, that isn't complete yet, that it's going to pick up sales' momentum thanks to good reviews and word-of-mouth, a game that it's going to get its boxed release once all the episodes are released digitally.

It may have been the worst release for a game I've ever seen.

It's not the game. People just don't want anything to do with the piece of crap xbone and who could blame them? Any company making exclusive games for xbone deserves bankrupcy due to poor business sense.

Is this game even sold in stores? It's suppose to be an episodic game like Telltale games so I expect most of the sales are digital. Was that included in the total for this $15 game? Anyway, this exclusive seems to have decent reviews. I'll wait till it becomes GwG. And by the look of it, the OP in the NeoGaf thread is a troll. I'm not surprised some here worship these Sony trolls.

It's a great game, I don't think it is as wacky as most people make it out to be, if you watch anime then the weird in the game is very tame. Kinect works really really well in the game, so much that I have not touched the controller at all. I'm 4 hours in and enjoying it. A shame it hasn't done too well, it deserves its 8 rating.

Announcing the release date the day before it was released was a terrible idea.
