Seriously ?
Will I have to shell 60$ to play that game at home ?
How can you rent a game without paying for the whole price ?
Other than that, I think the USA will buy the Xbox One
That's right, the whole country ! :p
This topic is locked from further discussion.
Far as I understand, it plays games that are from the disc drive, but it requires $ to play it from the HDD alone.Seriously ?

I have only heard that by posters on SW, in none of the interviews or reports I"ve seen did they say this.
It all comes down to if the game was originally bought and loaded on your xbox from your account first, if that didn't happen then you have to pay. PERIOD.

They said that you have to install every game to the HDD before having the rights to play it !!!
So, I think that option is not possible...

Now pay us $60 so you can have our permission."

 yes we do...the only thing that can change that is if MS decided to back off of this new rip off idea after seeing how much of a negative reaction this caused. No one knows what happens yet.

As it stands now any game that is not originally logged on to your account first you will have to pay full price in order to play that game on xbox1.
*edit*
there is hope tho since MS seems to be DCing the whole thing saying they still have to iron out how they will handle it, so it's possible the drop the whole thing all together....What I am betting? They are waiting to see what Sony is going to do @ E3.

In regards to renting / buying used games? No we don't know. When asked, PH said "we will announce those details in due course."

I'm talking about renting games. That probably won't apply if you rent games.

No Renting man, at least as it's described now, you pay the full price according to the Vice President Phil Harrison. His underling marketing PR guys seem even more confused. So, go up to the top and read those guys statements again (Mattrick, Harrison).

:? how in the world would it not? I am asking you to think here for a minute...Do you know what the difference is between the games you rent on consoles now from regular used games like from a friend or gamestop...???
I'm sure they will clamp down on that too but possibly have a DD service that can do it better. Let you download the game and play for a week from when you start and then after the week lock it out

LOL the license for a rental is VERY different to a consumer copy. Thats the way it is now. Microsoft haven't said anything about how buying used games or renting games is going to work, so why are people so eager to jump to conclusions?
We'll probably find out at E3 in a couple of weeks, are people really that impatient

Ms said that they will talk about the different scenarios involving used games at E3. MS will probably still let people rent games.
Rental copies of games have a different price than regular consumer copies. Renting will be alive and well, they'll figure something out.

does not compute.
What you are talking about is between you and the vendor...but what about when you get home and pop in the disk to you xbox1 and that game is recognized as a game that has already been logged onto another account first?
I read there might be a small fee. When did that turn into full price? As it stands now any game that is not originally logged on to your account first you will have to pay full price in order to play that game on xbox1.

[UPDATED] Xbox One Fee for Buying Used Games? Full Retail Price!
"We now know the full extent of that fee, thanks to an interview between Kotaku and Microsoft Corporate Vice President Phil Harrison. The fee for buying used games or borrowing one from a friend? The full cost of the game.
If its $59.99 at retail for the game, youll pay $59.99 in order to activate it. Thats on top of whatever you paid the seller of the game."

What are you talking about. You think places like blockbuster (before they went out of business) paid retail for their rental copies? Eh no, they pay a premium on them because they were specifically designed to be rented. So in this situation, if you wanna rent a game, that copy that the vendor has is obviously not going to have a limit on its authetification codes. Its as easy as the vendor reestablishing a code on the disk when they get it back. This is such an easy thing to do and they could go about it a million ways. Since vendors pay first parties a premium to rent its obvious that this new system isn't in place to limit game renting.

Because you are effectively turning One copy of the game into Two, so of course you'll be paying again. How is this hard to understand?

In the yahoo chat today he said that they are trying to use the same used game policy they used on the 360.
Update #2: As of 9:06pm EST, Microsoft appears to be issuing conflicting statements. The new word? The things theyve talked about today after the show are all potential scenarios. Thats right. Hypotheticals.
Heres the quote they served Polygon:
While Phil [Harrison] discussed many potential scenarios around games on Xbox One, today we have only confirmed that we designed Xbox One to enable our customers to trade in and resell games at retail
My take? Harrison let news slip that wasnt ready for the masses, and now Microsoft is playing damage control. Major Nelsons update further suggests that fees exist because he clarifies that we wont incur them when using our accounts on other consoles.
Heres what I know for sure: a company needs to deliver a consistent message across the board on the day of a major unveiling.
What this means is nobody knows what the fuk is going on, so wait until you hear something definitive.

What the hell are YOU talking about? They weren't specifically designed to be sh!t...they were just sold as subsidized prices since it was a company buying in bulk instead of a consumer...that has NOTHING to do with the internal design of the game or how the game will interact with your system.Seriously ?
