It seems as though the Xbox One is getting nothing but flops, WHEN they get a game. Why is it that xbox owners continue to praise Phil Spencer? What is he doing for the brand? Will a new more powerful system make up for the lack of games? Discuss...

I mean, it sounds like Xbox One owners are enjoying the games they are getting, so what's the point in getting worked up?

I'm not actually getting worked up, I'm just disappointed that xbox owners are satisfied with shitty games. They can enjoy whatever they want, but my point stands. PS4 gets higher quality games at a greater frequency.

Shitty games from a perspective of 1 reviewer at GS. I don't know the scores, but could you include MC scores to get a better overview what the general consensus is?

Halo Wars 2 got a 6/10?! Well that was worth the wait.

Is the SW metagame dead or alive? Also it's very nice of you being so deeply thoughtful and so invested to care for what you think these Xbox owners like and dislike based on these scores.

It's a really really really bad gen to be an Xbox only owner. I have one and I do enjoy the console, but I also have a ps4 which satisfies most of my gaming needs.

The xbone is simply irrelevant. It's been a while since I've seen such an irrelevant console. I consider the xbone a waste of time since you'll be missing some of the best games this gen while playing flops. The worst part is that you can get all those flops on PC and they even run better there.

It's a shitty console. What do you expect? MS spent the last years of the 360 closing down studios and focusing on Kinect. They then decided to launch the new gen with a TV box/water cooler that also happened to play games. The fail that was the XBone is the result of that endeavor in stupidity...

After their plans backfired they decided to drop the whole TV thing and Kinect and pretend they were a gaming console. The problem was they didn't have the foundation of solid first party studios like Sony had with the PS3. While Sony spent most of the later half of last gen hiring studios and creating new IPs, MS was closing down studios and milking HaloGearsForza, and coasting on 3rd party support. This gen they really need their 1st party since 3rd party is in Sony's pocket due to PS4's success and unfortunately for them HaloGearsForza are stale franchises. Halo and Gears aren't as good as they used to be and Forza is a racing game that doesn't quite have the appeal to the masses that a blockbuster games like Halo and Gears used to have last gen. The only way they can fix this problem is to hire new talent and invest in some new fresh IPs but they won't. Instead they'll keep closing down studios and cancelling games and hoping that stale HaloGearsForza on Scorpio will save them.

So multi plats still don't exist?

My Xbox is my main machine and ps4 is for exclusives. I like the Xbox more overall, so that's what I use.

This thread is some weak bait. And one reviewers scores don't say much. Gamespot is almost as bad as ign when it comes to proper reviews.

Yikes indeed. It's really sad just how bad GS has gotten at reviewing games. I don't think there is a single person on staff who's opinion I'd trust on any game.

I prefer the controller and interface on the Xbox one more. And up until recently the ps4 couldnt support external hard drives for some reason.

And gwg is objectively better than Playstation plus. Not even counting the online aspect since I'm a single player gamer.

Admittedly, I am still yet to purchase an Xbox One/Windows exclusive but this year there are definitely some promising games on the way such as Sea of Thieves and Cities: Skylines that I'm much looking forward to playing on Xbox One. :)

But when you look at the actual MC scores you suddenly get a more objective view:

Xbox One - Average 78.2

PS4 - Average 80

X1 is good as a backwards comp console if you got a 360 collection. Other than that its useless for new games. PS4 lacks good games but at least has some!

Let's face it Halo Wars 2 will likely get some low scores because reviewers will ding it for lacking when compared to its genre but really it's a console rts which is always going to lack compared to an in depth pc rts. Doesn't mean it can't be fun.

see i played all those xbox games And I can tell you that other than forza horizon 3 the other games should be bumped up 1 point, but then again I play a game I enjoy it I don give two shits about some score from someone who isnt me.

I think its just a fact now people who reviews games for sites like Gamespot are Playstation groupies.

Yup, choosing a ps4 over xbone was definitely the right move this gen. 360 was good but ive always liked Playstation games more. Halo was the only xbox game ever for me that was worthwhile and now its pretty much a dead franchise. With games like Last of Us 2, God of War, Nioh, Horizon Zero Dawn, Detroit Beyond Human, Crash Remastered, Days Gone, Death Stranding, Uncharted Lost Legacy, Persona 5, Spider man, Ni No Kuni 2, Ace Combat 7, and much more to come, you would have to be a fool to justify an xbone over ps4. It's over Lems, yea Scorpio may be more powerful but xbox's first party will still be weak and what about the people like me that would rather play on PC or what about when Sony announces PS5?

@FastRobby: Well done, not such a huge difference when you compare MC scores, for the people who are really into numbers anyways this should help get a better idea. Sure some games could have turned out better, hey it's too bad ReCore was not Metroid Prime quality, but I still enjoyed my time with it, and it was not an expensive game.

FH3 is arguably one of the best racing games ever created, so you have a world-class masterpiece on that list. Gears 4 is one of my favorite games on the system, I wasn't that big of a Gears player last gen, I mean I did play the games quite a bit but I was more into Battlefield last gen. I find myself often going back to Gears 4 online because it's just fun, there's no other game like it in my library. Just some cool, white- knuckle arcade like action gameplay on dedicated servers. It works well when I play it and its over the top gore also make it stand out versus some of my other games.

PS4 list has some standout titles as well, NIOH looks really good, and you can see how the 2 lists in the OP are very different genres, which is good imo, they complement eachother, they don't butt heads.

I didn't know Forza Horizon 3 Metacritic Score was 91, that's very impressive, but then again, I don't really follow Metacritic cause when it comes to games, I want to play them before passing y judgment.

When it comes to scores of a review, I personally don't go with the score of a game nor do I take GS reviews seriously, I look at gameplay videos, dig up more info on a game and then play it for myself. I have play several MS games like Gears of War 4, Rare Replay, Master Chief Collection, and so on, I was impress what I have play from MS exclusive games but I will take cautions if I see a low score game and try to get the info before I buy.

The fact that PS4 titles continue to be scored higher than average here, while Xbox One games are scored below average is concerning. Then again most gaming sites, Gamespot included, have become irrelevant. They all have pretty much dumped their experienced writers for younger, cheaper "writers." Most of us wouldn't know the Gamespot staff if we saw them in public. That's crazy to me.

Personal opinion didn't matter when Halo was getting high 9's and Resistance and Killzone weren't, on that time ONLY GAMESPOT SCORE MATTER ON GAMESPOT.

Even with the things i prefer on the Xbox? And the fact that i only spent 250 on my Xbox over a year and a half ago? Inferior in what way? Because i own both. And get the advantages of both. And they both have advantages. Which i listed.

It makes perfect sense to get the preferred system, no matter the money.

Plus I've already gained back the money i spent on the Xbox at least 2 or 3 times over with the GWG program, something i cant claim with the Psn+ equivalent. Even though i own the Vita, and the Ps3 on top of the 4. The games just arent worth it.
