Maybe priced too high? I got my PS4 @ launch, and will probably get the X1 at some point, but this launch reminds me of the Wii U, where you could walk into any retail store and pick one up no problem! I have 5 Walmarts in my area, and they all have Xbox One in stock despite all being open 24 hours a day! Weird! How come they're not sold out?

Not entirely sure. When the PS4 launched here it was sold out everywhere expect for FutureShop (they had piles and people who lived like 90 minutes away were even driving here for it). I did a quick search for Xbox Ones and most places have them in stock at Wal-Mart etc.,

My buddy who lives in a pretty big city went to Wal-Mart for the midnight launch and said there were ~50 people waiting, whereas another friend went to the midnight launch where we live (small population) and he said there were about ~150 people at the midnight launch for the PS4.

No way to tell for sure until the release their numbers, which should be decently high considering they launched in more places then PS4.

I got my Wii U at Wal-Mart. It was my only option at the time. Everyone else in my area was sold out or had a huge waiting list.

But anyway, back on topic. The price is probably just too high for many people.

In the UK it appears to be selling out everywhere, Amazon are saying that any pre orders after August 15th will most likely come after Christmas.

I'm going to say it is due to good supply. Check this out, anyone remember when these pics were posted on GS back in September? Now think about that.......

I don't think the Xbox will sell as many as the PS4, mainly due to price. The guy in the store last night said PS4 preorders beat Xbox 5:1, That's not saying much though as there were only 2 of us there to pick up the Xbox at midnight. The GAME store over the road was busier.

actually I walked into my local futureshop on the saturday after the PS4 launch and they had 5 units sitting on shelves.. I had a pre order for the X1 but a buddy of mine didn't. We just spent 2 hours driving around town looking for some. Everywhere is sold out.

Well, actually I was, since people were saying the exact sam thing at PS4 launch: that Walmart had lots of stock still, so I assumed no one really buys consoles from Walmart.

I have no basis of knowledge other than that though, we have Asda as Walmart in this Country :P

I went to Kmart because they were only selling them to Shop Your Way Rewards members........of course since it was Kmart they only got 5 and were sold out before I got there, which was 5 mins after the store opened. I might check Walmart or Target when I go out later. Im in one of those "ill pick one up if theres one on the shelf" kinda moods.

Three on the shelf at walmart this morning, could be any reason for it. Amazon also had a few ps4s available after launch, which could have been a glitch. It is only a problem if they are still on the shelf tomorrow, or the next shipment sits on the shelf until christmas, similar to the wiiu.

I can't speak for overseas, but here in the US online you can't fond any available anywhere. And here in Illinois I have two buds desperately searching and can't find any. In the US I think MS sold every sing;e system they could make. Can't ask for more than that.

I love hoe information has boiled down to, "well I went to 3 targets and 4 walmarts and they have 22 xbox ones" and, "my local gamestop manager Keith says ps4 had 92 preorders and xbox had 73" sad.

There didn't seem to be as much excitement around the Xbox One launch compared to the PS4's launch.

I just came from doing some shopping on the mall close to where i live and on all wallmart and gamestop you could buy one walking in,make me kind of sad because now that i am not interested in 1 they have ton to sell, the 360 i had to camp to get one.

So either they have a incredible huge supply which i doubt,or they are not selling well.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Best-Sellers-PC-Video-Games/zgbs/videogames

Look at UK the PS4 still selling better even that the xbox one landed today there,is a clear indication of the unit not selling as good as the PS4 is.

It's in stock in a lot of targets in my area (Bay Area). 94804 zip code if you wanna check.

Best Buy is sold out Online and so is Walmart for online. Not sure about in store though. This does remind me of the WiiU launch.

I'm more interested on whether they'll still be on shelves next week than today. We won't know for sure but I think the "hardcore" gamers who opted for the PS4 are the ones who normally would stand in line at midnight. The normal people (casuals) who are Microsoft's new target market will be out shopping on a weekend. I still think we'll be seeing shortages and units going for high prices on ebay in a few weeks.

Anecdotal stories are fun and all, but we're going to have to wait until official numbers come out for launch day or NPD.

Those people that are trying to flip the xbones online are going to be disappointed just like the WiiU flippers.

Sony confirmed that yields for the PS4 were really really good so they were able have a ton of PS4s available for the US launch( and most likely EU/Latin America too)MS yields were kind of confirmed to be low when the dropped the number of launch territories from 21 to 13.

Just going off my area PS4 is sold out is large amount of PS4s very very fast and the Xbone with its smaller amount is still in stock a lot of places. Sales figures will be interesting.

I would hope stock being available on launch day for people who want it would be seen as a good thing. I want these companies to make it easier to buy their wares, not harder. But when they do, people make fun of them for it and say "LOL no one wants it" and it gets bad press, which makes them WANT to unproduce it so they can get the "hot item" label. I really want a future where when a new console comes out, I can walk in the day after and pick one up at my leisure sans reserve. Stuff like this makes that seem unlikely. Too bad.

I could get either one, but i'm so on the fence about either one since nether stands out really... i just don't know which to buy. By time i decide, they will probably both be sold out around my area.
