MS PR UPDATE:
http://venturebeat.com/2015/05/14/xbox-one-outsold-playstation-4-in-april-according-to-the-npd/
“As the best-selling console in the U.S. in April, fans set record April sales and engagement for Xbox One last month,” Xbox marketing boss Mike Nichols said. “Xbox One console sales in the U.S. increased 63 percent in April 2015 compared to April 2014 and Xbox Live comparisons showed the number of active global users (Xbox One and Xbox 360) grew 24 percent. We are grateful to our fans for their passion and support and are looking forward to sharing more on the best game lineup in Xbox history at E3.”
Edit: Weird multiple thread glitch is now fixed.
Now we have several factors that we need to look at to determine why this is and may be so.
1. Amazon has the ACU bundle and the PS4 spit right next to each other. And the Halo MCC bundle is only a few spaces before both of them. (TLOU did not chart) and while we can't do any numbers and can only use positions on amazon do to the short distance between the 3, I think it's safe to assume the 2 XB bundles together outsell the one PS4 SKu.
2. Bestbuy had some crazy deals where you could get an Xbox One for as low as $175 for trade-in. Also Xbox one is number 1 for the first time in Best Buy history.
3. Gamestop had an interesting deal were you could get an Xbox one for up to $225 with trade-ins.
4. No big game this week for either, full month of Halo MCC bundle, which seems to still be the top bundle everywhere outside of Amazon for Xbox one.
5. Halo 5 hype.
6. E3 is soon and MS have been more vocal about it and people related or associated with Microsoft have been vocal about it more compared to the others.
7. $399 is running out of steam, expect a price drop for the PS4 soon.
8. Black Ops 3 pre-orders combined with initial rumor of being next-gen only, with Xbox One pre-orders doing better than PS4 pre-orders (NPD is USA remember that.)
9. The Witcher 3 being near with Xbox marketing, and that will accelerate as we go further into may.
10. Toys R us had a $50 off if you trade in two games toward an Xbox One.
11. Momentum at the start of may still had XBox one topping Amazon charts, which can be given to Aprils momentum.
12. The 2 controller deal Halo MCC bundle for the regular $350 price at Walmart.
I'd say we are finally going to see a win, and it will also most likely win next month as well, and then once October comes it will win again. But who knows, it may win the summer as well. E3 is right around the corner.
