I find it interesting that the S has "Next-Gen support" and the X has "Series X exclusives" hinting that maybe some games will not support the S at all. Not sure why you would build a "next gen console" that will not be able to play every game that comes out next gen

Has more RAM than it should. It was 8GB. Not bad if it was upgraded.

The Series S is a piece of crap and MS is going to screw a lot of people over with it. It's not pro consumer to have it as an option. It's selling junk to people who can't afford the real next gen Xbox. It's anti consumer.

Thatd be a bummer if the S couldn't play all the games the X can. I'd be dumb dropping 3-400 on a new system that's limited. I have a hard time imagining this happening though.

Interesting to see them hitting 1440p as even Q6 Sammy's can do 1440/120, and they're a few years old now. Still, neither are of use for me given that I have a PC.

So 3.9TF = 1440p/60

But 10TF will struggle with 1080p/60 on PS5 side.🤔

say the series s is 100 cheaper than the digital ps5 for a hundred bucks more you get 10 teraflops and a faster ssd than the series x.

xbox should of left the disc drive in the series s to look a bit more appealing than just a 100 bucks cheaper at those specs.

@gifford38: I agree about leaving the disc drive in the S. I'm a little surprised they went that route unless it's gonna be really cheap(like $299). Cheap gamers like buying used physical games and trading them back in for cash. I bought Uncharted back in the day for $30 from a friend, beat it, and traded it in for $28 cash. I'm all for digital now, but itll be hard for some to switch.

No Disc drive system is DoA like psp Go and xbone sad edition. People want to use there discs from xbox one games.

i don't know i know a lot people that is buying the digital ps5 because they went all digital this gen.

but a disc drive is a must for me though. i still buy disc because its still faster than downloading a game and i like game cases.

It looks like they want to just erase the Xbox One and have this console be the lower end starting point going forward.

not quite what the chart says .. it says for the S "Next Gen Support" while for the X is says "Series X exclusives" .. so some games that are next gen would play on it.. while some that are focused on the X hardware alone may not (we are guessing at what the chart means)

The chart could be worded weirdly and the S could support all the games the X does but with downgraded features (less particles, less ray tracing, lower graphics)

I personally have a disc in my XB1X to play BlueRays in it but I rarely do that, it would not be the end of the world if there was no BlueRay Drive in the Series X as I have not bought a physical copy of a game since mid last generation

Releasing a console that would only play some next gen games would be a very stupid move even MS wouldn't do that. It would be self destruct mode.

1440p/60, Lol. Yeah at low settings. Just mention that I'm currently playing Odyssey at 1440p 60-100 fps, average 70's, on a Radeon VII.

Got to say I'm scratching my head on this, if they made the series S the same as the series X but at 1080p (even without RT) at a low price I could get that.

Its just a rumor and need to understand their plan before jumping to conclusions though.

You need to get educated more, proof that buzzwords and numbers sell, no disrespect. The architecture change means that 6TF will be weaker than the former. TF means zilch in isolation, always have.

This xbox x-series S. (The Xbox Series Sad) is just a dumpster fire waiting happened you can't play blurays your games you bought day one. I'm a bit confused on how the S would be compatible with OG and 360 games if it has no disc drive? Sure, some games were digital on 360 but it didn't really jump to digital until this gen. Even then, there will be many X1 owners with physical games.

Aren't all backwards compatible games digital tho? I thought you put disc in and it downloads game you have to be online to d/l the game and its not like real backwards compatibly like the ps3 had and stuff.

@ProtossRushX: Xbox One games may run natively off the disk. But 360 and OG xbox will have digital downloads more than likely. Either way, you still need a disc drive to play if you own physical copies of a game.

I'm no expert, but it could be cheaper manufacturing. S is likely a stripped down SX, and thus can run on the same or similar manufacturing lines... I'm not sure if it's the same anymore, but a lot of lower-end CPUs were slated to be higher-end, but failed testing.

The Series S games will run like crap they can't really participate in system wars at that point.

Hopefully the X beats the S in sales I'm not analyst so im not sure how this is gonna pan out.

Will people go with a cheap system or get the flagship? Usually cheaper stuff sells more but in this case people want flagship I think.
