@moistcarrot: Riiiiiiiidge racer
@Pedro: Ya it’s a bit more than I was expecting. I don’t think exchange rates have much to do with it, I think its always been region specific for pricing. Even when exchange rates here are good we’ve always paid around the same difference to US, although the gap this time has widened sadly. The price you pay for the superior console I suppose.
I couldn't possibly live with myself paying so little for so much tech.
I'm going to pay $899.99 for that SuperMighty MonsterBox just to ease my guilt. lol :P
Tell you what... you send me the $899 and I will buy it for you and make sure you have it on day 1 :D
@regnaston: Nice. Those were the Canadian prices that I was hoping for/expecting. Good to see them confirmed.
yea they could have gotten away with 650/400 probably, glad they are keeping it more reasonable.
I won't be getting one personally but glad to see my fellow Canadians won't be getting screwed

maybe we need a Canadian only forum ;) or at least a Canadian Flag beside our username
So let me get this straight.. I've been hearing rumors that SONY was releasing info today for weeks now and instead it's MS? lol.. I mean, don't get me wrong I'm happy for any news I can get and the ball is in SONY's court now to make the next move but this is pretty funny.
I wonder if MS heard SONY was going to reveal today and decided to steal their thunder on a big day in SONY history. MS like ziiiiiiip and plopping them down on SONY's desk.. lmao.
Pretty savage move actually. I want to see how SONY reacts. Fight, fight, fight, fight, fight!!! Feels like an after school special.. :P
Either way for SONY to do anything other than $399 digital and $499 physical at this point makes little to no sense unless they can pull off a miracle and slash both of those prices by like $50. If SONY releases both higher than that then MS will really have an edge.
Way more than I'd pay for a closed gaming machine with the X.
The S not having a disc drive makes that a non start for me.
£350 is my max for a console.
Wonder what Sony is offering.
Both are the best prices MS could have given us. Now i wonder if pussy sony will undercut them on the disc drive ps5 or not, cuz they certainly won't be able to price the digital ps5 at $300.
Tjey have the hardware spec and price sorted, now they just need the games to swing a 2:1 deficit. Will be a tough ask but it'll only be good for gamers if they manage it.
Xbox punched Sony in the face with these prices.
$300 for a next gen console? That is insane. Add to that Game Pass which will take advantage of the new hardware with over hundreds of titles? Xbox just won next gen.
Canadian Pricing
We're.... actually getting a good price? Wow much respect to MS for selling it at a loss in Canada, good for those who want it.
@HalcyonScarlet: with consoles I find it's always best to wait for a bundle with a pack-in game or in case of the PS5 i'll be waiting for a larger SSD version or a slim.
True, to be honest, I don't think it's worth it day one anyway. By the time the proper next gen good games come out, a year has passed, the hardware is more stable, the software is more stable and in better working order and the price has come down.
At release, you pay a premium for a product, that actually isn't ready. The Xbox One was in such a barebones condition on release with system software. Even games they finished with updates. They really use the internet as a crutch. The Xbox One should never have been released like that imo. The only ones it benefited was MS who were trying to compete.
Buying an XSX day one for sure. But is the S a significant jump over the X1X as a basement system?
Series S will probably closely match the X1X in terms of general performance, it will have a much better CPU, though 2GB less RAM, and 2TFlops less GPU performance. But I doubt GCN architecture TFlops equals RDNA 2.0 TFlops.
Series S is meant for original Xbone owners as a cheaper upgrade option.
This is $100 cheaper than I was expecting. For $200 more than the S, you get an optical drive, way faster GPU, faster CPU by a little, more RAM and much faster RAM, a SSD that's twice the size... This is a much better deal for the money than the S.
@tormentos: You would have a meltdown over that. Consistent with you being butthurt over the PS5 being 30% weaker than the Series X.
A next gen console that outperforms Xbox One X and includes all next gen features at $300 is insane.
Game Pass plus Xbox Series S is gonna sell like hot cakes.
@BlackShirt20:
The best part about that $300 next gen xbox is its 4TF GPU.😂
Nope
The best thing is the $500 next gen xbox is 12.15TF with 3.6GHZ that can run full wack all the time.
Where is PS5 price, the still haven't produced it.
Xbox punched Sony in the face with these prices.

Maybe you should have read what i was replying to before making an ass of your self.
He was talking about the series S not the series X.🤣
In other words the series S is not a real next gen console is a weak sauce machine to trick suckers into the xbox.
I don't know but you people are acting as if the PS5 cost the same as the series X without actually knowing if the PS5 is cheaper what excuse will you make? Because the gap can be very well be justify by a cheaper price, unlike the xbox one on 2013 $100 more and 40% less powerful.
Both are the best prices MS could have given us. Now i wonder if pussy sony will undercut them on the disc drive ps5 or not, cuz they certainly won't be able to price the digital ps5 at $300.
They don't need to sell the PS5 digital for $300,its a damn 10TF machine has more than twice the power of the series S,there is simply no way.
Is like expecting the 3070 to be priced at the same price as a much weaker 3050 when it arrives it doesn't make sense at all, sony does need to undercut the series X which is like 21% stronger give or take, the 150% weaker series S no they don't need to undercut that.
$400 is a widely accepted price range in the industry.
@tormentos: You would have a meltdown over that. Consistent with you being butthurt over the PS5 being 30% weaker than the Series X.

Well it is not me the one artificially inflating the gap you are.
Ray tracing serve for shit on that series S,ray tracing is related to the actual performance of your GPU which mean the 2080ti has better performance than the much much weaker 2060,it doesn't have the same performance across all models.
This will be a FACT for the series S as well, its ray tracing capabilities will be pretty much meh,for the same reason the PS5 one will also be inferior to the Series X,there is no way to erase that.
The xbox one X was been outperformed by Vega 580 and even the 1060,which are last gen tech so beating it by a hair means nothing, don't expect the same quality in that model as the series X even at reduces resolution, unless quality on series X is fu** up some how which i doubt.
Is not a true next gen machine is a weak sauce console with ray tracing.

So the definition of next gen is the TF of the GPU and nothing else.
Funny that doesn't apply when talking about the SSD in the PS5.
