LOL, watch microsoft like 2 months after elite releases makes all xbox360 standard with hdmi 1.3 port lmfao!
Owell, im happy with my component/vga out 360, does the job for me
hdmi bleh overrated.
I wonder why they didnt add hdmi 1.3 support? xbox360 soundchip doesnt support it? hdmi improves like color pallette and adds stuff like uncompressed sound.hytrytrytrytryt
Â
Why are yoiu opposed to HDMI 1.2 ?Â
thye should have just put dvi on the original instead of vga and they wouldn't have got into this problem, hdmi offers nothing over dvi but sound intergratedimprezawrx500
and hdcp support, if movies company uses ICT on the movie, the signal on hd movie or blu ray will be downgraded to 480p.

if mean dude, if you are gonna put hdmi in a console, like ms did why didnt you just put latest and greatest hdmi version?
kinda dumb adding hdmi 1.2 and ps3 has hdmi 1.3 this will automatically makes consumers/buyers think  ps3 is way better because it's a higher number/version of hdmi  sounds better lol.

Better than what the number "599" sounds like to a potential consumer.

What does HDMI 1.3 do that HDMI 1.2 can't?Â
Amir Majidimehr, Corporate Vice President of Microsoft's Mobile and Embedded Devices Division has revealed that the recently announced Xbox 360 Elite console will not be HDMI 1.3 compliant, unlike Sony's PlayStation 3. Instead the X360 Elite will be complaint with the HDMI 1.2 specification.
This will mean that Xbox 360 Elite owners will miss out on lossless multi-channel HD DVD audio formats like Dolby Digital Plus and TrueHD if they're using the HD DVD add-on drive. Instead, lossless audio tracks will be down mixed in the same way that they already are on the Core and Premium versions of Xbox 360.
Majidimehr admitted that if you want to experience lossless audio formats in HD DVD movies, you're going to have to look elsewhere. "If you are keen on having 5.1 PCM output, I recommend purchasing the Toshiba A2 player which after the price drop, will be much cheaper than Elite."
However, he did say that the X360 Elite's HDMI port will support 2-channel PCM audio. "Our goal was to provide a digital connection for video which people wanted for some of their TVs. And of course, single cable A/V connection. So if having analog video bothered you before, you can now use digital. If you lacked component/VGA on your TV, you are in business with Xbox 360 Elite."
He also revealed that you won't be able to select the output video format yourself with the console connected via HDMI. This is because the connection relies on a handshake with your TV in order to select what it deems the appropriate RGB/YUV settings

Here is a clever comment. Here's a cookie!!!
No Wi-Fi... no rechargable battery back... no 65NM CPU... no wireless headset... no better Xbox Live subscription... just a waste of money. Xbox 360 should be experiencing a price DROP, not a price INCREASE.

HDMI 1.3 does not add lossless audio...
The Toshiba A1, XA1, A2, and A20 HD-DVD players are all HDMI 1.2, and they are all capable of lossless audio.
Not having HDMI 1.3 is not the reason the 360 doesn't output lossless audio.

Yeah like people are gonna turn away from a 360 becuse it's got a 1.2 instead of a 1.3 and really can you tell me the difference, between 1.2-1.3?? Can you, well sure you can't becuse the difference is so tiny you wouldn't even care!!

Uncompressed audio - on the Xbox 360 it would make little difference. Developers aren't going to add 7.1 audio tracks to games, and 1080p native games will be exceedingly rare this generation.
As far as the consumer is concerned - I don't think the average consumer gives a flying beep about 1.2 vs 1.3. A good 90% of the people I see on this forum who have all three system and an HDTV don't have a sound system - that's amazing to me. Or they'll have Logitech speakers that *aren't* the Z-5500 hooked up and think they're getting surround, despite clearly putting a stereo signal into 5 computer speakers and a tinny "sub".
I'm just glad for the optical output and 5.1 surround. A real sound system is a joy to have - if you're still living with your TVs speakers, or that crappy unpowered subwoofer on your home theater in a box - skip the next gen system for now and get a decent sound system.
Serenity and Underworld are so much better in 480p widescreen with 5.1 surround.

You're forgetting, the Elite isn't for the "average consumer". It's for the "Elite". Why even bother making an "Elite" version when you can't even included the latest HDMI spec?Â

Also, consoles like the 360 and PS3 are elite to begin with, and the price tags only appeal to the elitist gamers. Casual gamers are buying Wii, DS, and PS2. MS should have just brought the Elite out as their first sku, because the hardcore elite gamers are the early adopters.
So far the ps3 is one of very few electronic pieces that uses 1.3. Only about 1% of HDTVs on the market right now support it, and Denon arguably the best Surround Sound reciever maker out there, hasn't released there 1.3 compatable reciever to the public yet. The cheapest Denon that will be available has a suggested retail price of $1599. Which is quite expensive.dru26
