I have fixed 2 of my friends.   Dont know why but I have also heard this has been a big problem.  I still own my launch day console but I dont play like my friends do so maybe thats why it hasnt overheated.

Putting your own thermal paste on is easy, but doesn't opening up your 360 make you lose your warranty? hmmm....

Yea...I'd rather have a professional do it and keep my warranty.

It will void your warranty and if you try to send it in to MS for repairs after your warranty has already expired, and you opened it, they will not work on it.

All youve got to do is overheat it by using towels and it works fine. That is the Ring of Death I mean.

You overheat it with towels when you get the Ring of Death to fix it?? I've heard of people doing this successfully on the Xbox forums (MS's site) but I'm pretty sure it poses a risk to the console as well as the building in which you are playing the Xbox360. Wouldn't it be simpler to just get it repaired?

While I was awaiting my coffin for my Red Ring'd 360, I tried the "towel" thing.  And I can confirm that it works.

The towel only needs to be on for about 10minutes.  It gets real hot but doesn't burn.  Doing this made the 360 fan reach a near jet engine like velocity, and thereby fixed the ring red effect if only for a short period.
