I commonly read on this forum that Xbox360 is the American-ites home console. While similtaniously from the same group understand that it is games that matter, not hardware sales.
Xbox360's front line is British. It's highest rated game is Great British, and it's frontline first party developers (Rare, Lionhead) are British game developers. The actual hardware is made in China.
The purpose of this thread is just to gain a little recognition for the Home Team (I'm posting from Gamespot UK, we have a secret forum on this website) and just to state that We invented videogames, and were still in the forefront of videogame development. Booyeah!
Go team! To celebrate, here is some music by a British Band you might recognise. lol. Sorry cows.

A look at Wikipedia will tell you that the earliest video game was invented by an American in 1948, and the first coin operated, commercially sold video game (in other words, the real father of all video games) was made by an American.
Where are you getting your info from?
Nothing against the Brits, I love the UK, but your info is just completely wrong.
And it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out why it's considered an American console. Nintendo and Sony have plenty of American developers, it has nothing to do with developers. It has to do with where the parent company that actually made and invented the console is based.
Honda has plants here in the US (more Honda facilities than anywhere else, including Japan) and many Honda cars are made here, but there's a reason Honda isn't considered an "American" car. This site has lots of British users and users from other parts of Europe but there's a reason it's considered an American site (it's based in Cali.)
That being said, I couldn't care less what the console is considered. I wouldn't care if the 360 was considered Indian (and I do love Rare and Lionhead.) I only care about the quality of games, don't care where they or the hardware that plays them comes from.
