Ok, so lem bots are saying that the Xbox360 can run the UE3 engine well. Look at Too Human...it looks like a Wii game.

Epic developed the first Unreal 3 game on the PS3 and PC. They knew those were the superior platform to show off the game. That's why the 360 version came less, they were having problems porting it to the system.

The reason why? Mainly because PS3 has better AA and Animostropic filtering. Silicon Knights had trouble working with the Unreal Engine on 360 thats why it took forever for the game to come out. And when it did come out, it looks like a last gen game.

The culprit is mainly the 360's GPU inability to do animonistropic filtering. It uses the less hardware intesive bilinear filtering, making the textures and lines look very blury to hide the pixelation. You can tell when looking at the character models and environments that they are not up to par with other games this gen.

This post was not meant to bash the 360 or Too Human. It's just to state the truth, when Too Human, the flagship game in Microsoft's lineup and Silicon Knights, expert programers are not able to get the game to run well and look well on the system even after all these years and that high of a budget. You can't argue with the facts.

Too Human doesn't use UE3. The TC has been trolling on the Xbox 360 and System Wars boards, so I think it's a bandodger.

Wow.

1) Silicon Knights's programmers are largely non-graphics programmers.

2) Its graphics are decent.

3) Are you ever not trolling on the 360?

i wish all Wii games looked like that.

Still i find it interesting, when a game looks bad on the PS3 it's "lazy devs" when a game looks bad on the 360 it's "the 360 has poor hardware" funny

Epic developed the first Unreal 3 game on the PS3 and PC. They knew those were the superior platform to show off the game. That's why the 360 version came less, they were having problems porting it to the system.IvyCassandra

so you work at epic then?

The reason why? Mainly because PS3 has better AA and Animostropic filtering. Silicon Knights had trouble working with the Unreal Engine on 360 thats why it took forever for the game to come out. And when it did come out, it looks like a last gen game.IvyCassandra
so nt only do you work at epic but you also work at silicon knights?

the flagship game? wha?? all these years? wha??? you mean the game that started on a PS1? so i guess that the PS1 had terrible hardware as well, that why it failed 2 gens ago amirite?

Mainly because PS3 has better AA

IvyCassandra

What are you talking about?

and Animostropic filtering

IvyCassandra

That isn't a real term. Perhaps what you meant was Anisotropic filtering.

The culprit is mainly the 360's GPU

IvyCassandra

No, the culprit was mainly Epic.

animonistropic filtering.

IvyCassandra

stop saying that.

as to why UT3 for the 360 was delayed

http://www.joystiq.com/2007/08/01/mod-restrictions-holding-back-ut3-360/

in regards to what happened with too human and the unreal engine

http://kotaku.com/gaming/busted/unreal-engine-3-half+baked-broken-and-late-280548.php

•Epic did create a working version of the Unreal Engine 3 for the Xbox 360 before E306, but kept this code to themselves. Later, Epic allegedly failed to provide guidance on how to use the Unreal Engine 3. SK claims that since Epic employs only 75 people and was working on two titles (Gears of War and Unreal III), they were spread too thin and unable to help companies like Silicon Knights. By contrast, SK employees 140 staffers focused on creating two titles.

UE3 is terrible for any game except if it's made by epic. Too Human is a recent example. Lost Odyssey before that. BIA Is the latest example. It looks horrible. Last Remnant will be next.

Lost Odyssey looks beautiful and runs very well. Same for BioShock on 360. Too Human doesn't use UE3, so it's not an example.

I can throw away this entire argument with one statement.

Too Human does not use Unreal Engine 3.

So what if Too Human did look like a Wii game? Gears of War and GeOW2 both looks brilliant and work perfectly on the 360, and they're UE3. But I guess one game that doesn't look as good means the 360 sucks right?

And with your statements about the long loading you have just proven that you did NOT play the retail version of the game. There was a big ado about them sending out pre-gold copies to reviewers, and the retail versions did not have the long load times of them, and they had to rework the reviews because of this.

There was still long loading, how are you going to tell me? It's one of my favorite games, but it's technically not very good. The loading was hidden... It takes like 10-15 seconds to load up a random battle, but it's hidden by the spinning purple things and fly ins of your party

No there wasn't. You can check my gamertag in my profile for proof that I bought and played the game extensively. There was not intermitten long loading between battles. The longest loading I experienced was three seconds. Those long loads ONLY existed in the review copies of the game. The game is technically great.

I believe you own the game :? And those loads didn't only exist in the review copies. They may have been worse, but they still existed in the final version. Kevin V even went over the changes. i don't know. my copy suffered from all that

They only existed in the review copies. My personal experience, and the statements of numerous reviewers support my claim. I highly doubt you're telling the truth, because you're talking about non-existant load times that only existed in the review copies of the game. The spiral lasted about a second, and then you had all the characters doing a single animation like throwing the staff in the air which took all of maybe four seconds.

[QUOTE="Couth_"]I believe you own the game :? And those loads didn't only exist in the review copies. They may have been worse, but they still existed in the final version. Kevin V even went over the changes. i don't know. my copy suffered from all thatVandalvideo

Kevin V supports my claim. Loads werent as bad as reviews stated but they were still there... Spirals for me lasted between 2-10 seconds some times. And if each character does one animation, 4 seconds times 5 characters is 20 seconds bro..

Too Human didn't use UE3... They used another engine, and why are you focusing on the graphics in an overall mediocre game? That should show you that they didn't take the time on anything. Your argument has more flaws but I've pointed out enough.

Kevin V is also incredibly bad when it comes to JRPG reviews, and I've already had an extensive conversation with him about it. The swirl takes 1 second, and the overall animations take anywhere from 4-6 depending on the location you're in, with some locales having a birdseye view before combat. The most loading you're going to have between battles is like 7 seconds. If you have the audacity to complain about SEVEN FREAKIGN SECOND or TEN SECONDS for that matter you should check your perogatives. Many JRPGs have had much longer load times between battles. Its not that big of a deal, and its muckraking. Not to mention all the character animations happen at the same time.

I am not complainging about the load times, I thoroughly enjoyed Lost Odyssey. I don't think you understand where I am coming from. I thoroughly believe LO would have been technically better if it used a different engine. my beef is with the engine, which doesn't produce technically advanced games, unless it's made by epic

Theres no way I can accept a made up stance. You're talking about a non-problem and greatly exxagerating it to the point of laughability. The longest load time I've seen is in the Crimson Forest, which was about 18 seconds long, and even then that was a prepanned cut. Most battles do not take that long to load. LO was an amazing looking game with short load times and an overall great story. Complaining about 6-12 seconds of loading is laughable.
