Xboxlive is the only thing saving the X1 for me

I have both the X1 and PS4 ordered. I very much value online gaming. If Xbox live does not clearly beat the PS4 network on all levels, then I will switch to Sony this generation. This is coming from a guy who's never owned(with the exception of the PS3 that I owned for a short amount of time before selling it to a friend)anything other than an Xbox and some over of the older Nintendo systems back in the day. IMO that really is the only thing at this point that would save the X1... All other areas, the PS4 is looking to beat out the X1. It just seems to be a better built and designed system...it pains me to say but it is what I see. It looks like the rumors have been true all a long....the PS4 is looking to be significantly more powerful machine which would more it more future proof for the long upcoming generation. What the hell was MS thinking?

Have to agree. Not getting any console at launch and that's because of XBL. Tried both controllers. DS4 easier beats the Xbox ONE controller. I couldn't believe it.

If the rumors are true and XBL is worse than PSN, then it's pretty much game over for MS. Everyone including me, a diehard Xbot, will switch sides. No reason to stay.

I agree....xbox live and some initial good games are really the only things that are going for the X1. The PS4 simply appears to be the more appealing system right now. It's faster, more powerful, cheaper, rumor has it a better controller....... and if P4 network is even close to what Xbox live has to offer, I'm gone....I will switch over. I'm actually kinda of passed at MS for putting me in this situation.

I will agree that XBL made me gravitate more to my x360 than my PS3. Live was a much better experience then PSN. Now all my online buddies are xbox people which makes me stay loyal I guess. Im still getting both consoles. I am hoping Sony follows through with all of the improvements to PSN.

If the Xbox One's exclusive lineup and features (Kinect/Fitness/Motion/Voice controls/Snapping) are of no interest to you then you probably should get a PS4. I can live with the graphical difference while knowing that will improve greatly. But for what the PS4 can do better than the Xbox One doesn't make up for the Ones games and features for me. Having seen and played One games (Ryse, DR3 and Forza 5) if thats what launch titles look like, along with BF4 now, and we know the dev tools are shit, I'm very confident the system will produce great visuals even when they lag behind PS4. But playing Killzone at 1080p or Titanfall at whatever res it debuts at when its won rave reviews at every gaming site and convention, that doesn't add up for me. I can't play resolution or specs, but I do play great games. Not saying Sony won't have them as they will. Just not Titanfall, Halo 5, Fable Legends, Quantum Break, ect.

^^I wouldn't put any weight behind launch software, as we saw, MSFT doesn't have the minerals to keep that support and partnerships up.

Honestly, tho I think the fact that it actually as a few interesting exclusives is it's saving grace...as it should be. The xbox360 had virtually no high quality diversified exclusives for the majority of the generation so this coming out looks good; and that is not to say that the x1 line up look OMGBBQSAUCEAMAZING#, it just looks like a nice set of games and a good start for a generation (better than the original xbox, but I can say the same for PS4's line up)

XB1 doesn't beat PS4 in any area at the moment but I can compete with it by having good exclusive games of it's own. I see no other way for it to compete against PS4 as a gaming console, also the idea of hyping TV features as a reason to buy a xbox1 as a gaming system is a joke.

XBL network is NOT getting any worse. MS has better tools and infrastructure (than Sony) to keep XBL gold running like gold.

If you want good online, play on PC. On every level you have straight up superiority. Better players, better behavior, more avenues for communication, better servers, and it's an open platform.

PSN was definitely better than Xbox Live, just because of the skill and the behavior. People on Xbox Live, as a general rule, are loud and stupid. They're bad at video games, and they're not afraid to show it. They think their "Gamerscore" matters, and they take the games too seriously, while ironically being awful at them.

PSN has the same problems, but not QUITE as much. You're less likely to hear the N word and the gay-F word, and you can generally expect a better challenge.

Nothing, NOTHING is more annoying than the sound of a 15 year old boy whose balls just dropped calling you a C word.

X1 has features unlike ps4, has better line up in my opinion, ms putting kinect in every box, ms giving every dev access to dictated servers if they want. Changed the ancient audio plug for improved chat.

Yup... everything about the x1 is better besides the power atm. But if I gave a crap I would go 100% pc gaming... so you cows if you care about power so much why not get a pc?

No, that is it for me i guess. Now i just have to call the MS Store to cancel my pre-order ( yeah, they make it hard, you can not simply cancel your pre-order online, you have to call and wait on hold for several minutes just to talk to someone.)

My question is; is the X1 really not that powerful of a system or is it simply a matter of poorly designed system or, it is a matter of poor dev tools? To be honest, not of those options are ok with me. What he HELL was MS doing for the past 3-4 years? How come Sony was more prepared than MS? Will the situation improve with mature drivers and dev tools or is the X1 just not that powerful? I want a system that will truly stand the test of time over the next 10 years. At this point it is looking like the PS4 is more future proof.

If Xbox live is not head and shoulders above what the PS4 has to offer, there is now way I can justify going with the X1, especially with it being a 100 bones more. Being an MS and xbox fanboy, MS has really put me in a very bad position and has actually made me seriously consider going with the competition(PS4).

I think its a combination of a lot of things. one the tools are very immature, this has been said, the workaround for esram isn't there and that's big from what I read. it will improve. now the upclock of the cpu and gpu is also not avail, im thinking that will help a little. also the 10 percent GPU reservation time slice for snap will be available also down the line. So if you combine all those things. 6 percent for the upclock, 6 percent for the cpu upclock, the 10 percent time slice and the dev tools I think down the line the gap will actually shrink. It might widen again when gpgpu comes into play with Sony holding more cu's for functionality, but at that time cloud compute might actually be taking off. Was the MS rushed? Probably, its a little behind SOny in that regard. Will it be the better console to get?? there is no doubt in my mind that Xbox One is the better console. It is a media marvel and right now it has the better games by far. Its going to have the best game of 2014 exclusive to them in Titanfall. So I wouldn't be too concerned, but its a little wait and see. The 720p thing stinks hopefully that's not a lifelong sentence for the system. that is the only risk. I think MS fell short of true greatness here with them gimping the GPU, but overall the slew of services and XBL still make it the better overall console.

You make some very valid points. However, I think MS knows now that they could have done SOOOO much better. They are simply way behind Sony in regards to the hardware and even software(dev tools & drivers) I can't believe I even said that. MS(a software giant) was and is currently behind Sony in regards to drivers and dev tools. Like I said before, what the HELL was MS doing the past 3-4 years?

The PS4 has the X1 beat on all levels. Cling onto Xlive as to why to buy it, but PSN on PS4 is very good and has all the functions Xlive has. Party chat, crossgame chat, crossgame invites. It has all the same functions. There is nothing superior about X1 vs PS4. PS4 allows for HDD upgrades and X1 doesn't. DS4 controllers are built in rechargable and X1's use AA batteries. PS4 does all the X1 does aside from the TV BS and more.

Like I said, the only thing that is still keeping me in MS camp is Xbox Live and MAYBE some of the media features. If I see that MS had dropped the ball at all with Xbox Live and Sony has come within striking distance with the online services, I'M GONE.....I will switch. At this point, IMO, Xbox Live is X1 only saving grace.

This delusion is adorable. Sony is getting now what XBL had back in 2008. Cross game invites? Cool, I had that back in 2006, even if Sony did have all of the features that XBL has [which it doesn't] it doesn't matter since the actual functionality of PSN is garbage. Longer download times, terrible match making, terrible friends list, syncing trophies, installing demos, patches etc.

Not sure if trolling or just stupid, Screaming kids hasn't been an issue since like 2008. Once the party chat feature was introduced in game chat has nearly died out. And I've played tons of competetive games from shooters to fighting games. I played Tekken 6 Extensively on both systems and Mortal Kombat and the general skill of 360 users eclipses the skill of PSN users.

Asides that PSN was abysmal in it's functionality. You can do that on XBL also, and if Sony is behind 5-7 years then they won't have what XBL is having now until 2020. Also have fun with those laggy P2P servers.

It[s really simple, Japanese companies cannot do software or networking to save their lives. Konami is a perfect example of a company that utterly botched an online multiplayer component. Microsoft had an MMO planned for the original XB called True Fantasy Live but it got scrapped because the company [the same guys who made Dark Cloud] couldn't do the netcode properly. Sony is always going to play second fiddle, Software is what Microsoft does just like hardware is Sony's shtick.

LMAO Sony built a console with 1/3 of the features on XB1. Go ahead and make fun of the TV aspect all you want, their still features that PS4 doesn't have. Winning or losing a generation is subjective. Here's the fact, MS took a huge part of Sony's marketshare, that alone is a massive loss. Both consoles are sold out everywhere, as long they are making profit they don't have to beat Sony purely from selling more consoles then they do. And at least MS made a hefty profit off of software this past gen, Sony didn't,

Done and cancelled. It took me 10 minutes on a phone, talking to someone from India, to cancel my pre-order from the MS Store. Why cant i just cancel my pre-order online like i can with every other online store, like Amazon? MS is so messed up.

Who said everything was going to run smoothly? I can just easily point out the hardware blunders that Sony has had with the PS4 so far, the system locking up and freezing. I only stated that Microsoft does better software than Sony does, likewise Sony with hardware.

I'm waiting to make sure MS is committed to exclusives and not timed exclusives, then I may buy one.

Everyone has been talking about how the XB1 will get better over time. Well, so will the PS4. Some people are under the assumption that the PS4 is already tapped out- Cerny himself said the console's full potential won't be tapped for a couple years at least. So while the XB1 is trying to catch up to the launch PS4, the PS4 will be getting better than what we see now too. It might wind up being the issue that the XB1 is playing catch-up to the PS4 for years. Neither system is going to stay as-is after launch. Heck, the PS4 is allowing lower-than-DX-acces to their GPU (aka AMDs Mantle), which could seriously lengthen the gap over time.

Dude all companies are bent on screwing over their consumes, or at least get as close to screwing them over and getting away with it, in this case Microsoft was flying too close to the sun and backed off. You're probably one of those delusional people that thinks Sony actually gives 2 sh*ts about you, well guess what, they don't and if they had Microsoft's money or better yet a plan to take as much of your money while giving you as little as possible they would.

I think they were gunning for a 2014 release and were caught off guard. I also think the drivers and dev tools will come up to date. they will always be underpowered in graphics power, but I think by the time they catch up and ps4 starts to pull away again, the cloud will either make or break them. If they actually have the cloud doing some really innovative things, cloud compute, you can start to get a slant that Sony will be really behind in. Its a box that is a multimedia gem, slightly underpowered, but the games will do the talking. If you look at RYSE I don't think you should get that nervous of the output that the XBO can deliver. I think devs talent first and foremost is the biggest factor in all of this and it looks like they have secured a lot of it. I was close to cancelling my preorder, but I just cant take a step down in everything else and make Sony a primary console. It doesn't do all the things I value. to me Microsoft has took the next progression in consoles and that's and all in one media device, but again they did slightly underpower the GPU so nothing ever is perfect in the consumer world I guess. Just weigh your pros and cons, or just get both..
