I'm frankly just so sick of Ps3 fanboys making up rumors due to what is the worst type of fanboyism-- caring about platforms over the games. Yes, FF13 has towns. Yes, FF13 has a world map (on which you can even ride a chocobo!). Yes, FF13 has....a special type thing from FF7 which people wanted known as a fun place. Yes, FF13 has recieved great reviews from japanese publications. Yes, FF13 has recieved crap grades from half-***** sites no one has heard about who probably don't even understand japanese. Yes, FF13 isn't such a typical JRPG, but that's good. Yes, FF13 will most likely be great, on both the Ps3 and Xbox 360. GamerX2311Why does everyone on these boards have to link everything to certain fanboys? I want you to personally prove me that PS3 fanboys have been the ones making up rumors and complaining about towns. As far as I'm concerned, I've heard that complaint from just the people who are heavily anticipating this game, NOT JUST FANBOYS....
Please... it seems consistently to be those with Uncharted, God of War, Sackboy, etc. avatars. It pretty much is. GamerX2311
Which means what?
A users avata doesn't denote which company they "side" with. It's a personal expression of whatever they want on there.
Don't be so ridiculous.

I think you're confused about who are actual fanboys. GameSpot as whole tends to think that there are a lot of fanboys, when there is surprisingly a minimal amount.. I see more complaining about fanboys than the fanboys themselves. Do guys understand these "fanboys" could be ones that are just banned multiple times or ones who just make multiple accounts, right? Also, the more notorious fanboys on these forums do a lot of fanboy like posts, which may create the illusion that all PS3 fanboys or Xbox 360 fanboys believe this, etc.

So if a person has a God of War avatar they're not likely to be ps3ers? If they act like fanboys with that pic, I guarantee you they're cows.It could be completely linear, no towns & rated poorly by the best gaming sites (An IGN reviewer that openly hates the FF series has already said it won't be getting more then an 8) & I will still buy it. I haven't been overly disappointed with an FF game yet, & by the trailers & streams I've seen, this will be just fine.

I had a Killzone 2 avatar for the longest time, however I owned a 360, PS3 and PC and was more of a Hermit.
Your overgeneralization does not work in my case, so that disproves your point.

I had a master chief avatar for a month or two, I don't really like halo all that much and I don't own a 360. I just liked the picture.[QUOTE="lundy86_4"][QUOTE="GamerX2311"]Please... it seems consistently to be those with Uncharted, God of War, Sackboy, etc. avatars. It pretty much is. GamerX2311

My avatar is from FF VIII and I don't like it as much as other FF games. It's a picture... People use w/e picture that they think looks cool. Why would PS3 fanboys try to bash FF13 when it's an exclusive in Japan?

As long as it's multiplat somewhere, they'll be angry.
Sorry, but it doesn't. Any videos you've seen are misleading you into making you think you are seeing a town like area. There is roughly 5 areas I would consider townlike. Bordam (only in flashbacks and quite small), another large town that Sazu and Vanilla visit (which again, doesn't allow direct interaction with NPC's and is very much designed to be ran from front to back in a line). A sequence on Cocoon which is in the city (Very impressive, but it is basically just a large set area for monsters).
There is also a trading town but again, you almost never interact directly with NPC's, no shops or inns here either. It's basically just a large set-piece to funnel the story and encounters. It is not in a town in the sense that you can do anything there that you can't elsewhere. It's more like a dungeon with a reskin in town like colours.
Finally there is another "town" like area in the game which is just a detroyed town filled with monsters. Very atmospheric but there isn't a single person there, just broken homes. I guess there are towns of sorts in FFXIII but they are probably not what you think they are.
Another note is that despite the large open field like area, all the areas that lead off it inevitably end up being really long runs in a single direction. If you look at the map it is hard to see this though because what appears like a short path on the map is typically 40 seconds to even 2-3 minutes running down one long tunnel. The world of FFXIII though is indeed massive and there is a lot to see. However the design of it is lacking even if the scenary is pretty amazing.
