Yet another AAAE for PC: Path of Exile

Review

Played it earlier this year when it first went into open beta and was very impressed with it. Easily up there with Torchlight and Diablo in the ARPG realm.

Looks like PC and PS3 are the only platforms that still get high quality exclusives anymore, both with over 3 this year.

@BPoole96: played this a lot, spent money too to support the Devs. It's a good game but the loot is a total snore fest. They may have updated it and I will give it another go but have just installed Grim Dawn on steam, early access. This looks stunning.

It's damn good but spectral throw is pretty damn OP and very easy to build.

They gotta balance that shit, melee's a straight up beast now.

So it seems that the general consensus is that this is the game Diablo 3 should have been.

It doesn't require a good PC to play it, heck my Dad is playing it on his 2008 prebuilt Packard Bell

Got in the beta ealr y and liked , glad it scored well. Will be playing aging shortly.Add BroknOath if you want to play sometime.

Torchlight 2 was that game.

Path of Exile is just simply the best of all.

Anyways, was going to try this out during beta but didn't have much time, I'm going to definitely try it out now.

The loot in the new release version of poe is actually great. It feels way more polished then it did and I love the domination/ nemesis modes. Can't wait for grim dawn too... as Its from titan quest ex devs... but $27 for 1 act in alpha no less is not worth it.

Totally deserves it. It could even get a 10 as far as I'm concerned. This is one of the best games I've played this year and everyone can check it out for free :D

What about it ? I'm 16 hours in and haven't had a single issue ?

The only thing I'm not entirely happy about is the map. Sure, it shows everything you need in a simplistic way but it could be more detailed. And I think Torchlight 2s map system is a lot better, easier to use and more detailed.

Path of Exile is 1000 times better than Diablo 3. There is no comparison.

Grim Dawn is excellent as well.

Loved it. Any Diablo 2 fans will like PoE alot.

May give it another try but the beta left bad taste in my mouth. The game looked bad and gameplay was very unresponsive for such an action packed game. I can see it getting old fast too.

@soulitane: yes and it's not pay to win either. You can buy cosmetic spell effects, pets and account features like stash upgrades. Such a great way to offer games and one that obviously makes money.

@tagyhag: It seems so. But I don't know if I can trust a non-Diablo Online Action-RPG. Then again Diablo III was a great fail in my eyes, despite having played it for 197 hours it completely pales in comparison to my 10,213 hour diablo 2 career I had over 9 years.

Great game,well deserved score,also that makes two AAAE games on PC in the last week lol,the domination is overwhelming.

There´s a reason why he wasn´t around after the Beyond two Souls review,you know,with that 71 on metacritic and all lol.

I for one thought it deserved that score on Metacritic. And I never used Gamespot score either. However Hermits/Lems quickly pointed out Metacritic when they always said Gamespot is the only thing that matters

so davekeeh since you like going with metacritic a free pc game scores 83 on metacritic (90 user score ) which is the same as killzone 3 ( user score of path of exile is much higher but whatever helps you sleep ) so you must agree then path of exile is as good game as KZ3 but its of a much higher value considering is both free and lasts much longer than KZ3 ?

Path of Exile: 83

Killzone 3 critics: 85
Path of Exile critics: 10

Not really comparable since Path of Exile only has 10 critics. However what I find funny is that the PC exists for decades, yet it's top 3 exclusives are (Out of the Park baseball 2007, Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn, Grim Fandango). And those games only got rated by 5 critics or so. Not only that the top 3 is actually worse than PS3's top 3 that actually did get rated by tons of critics.
Path of exile is just a rotten cherry on a rotten pie
