For me the freezing problem does exist but it is EXTREMELY rare. I think it's happened maybe 5 times in the 2 years I've owned my ps3. munu9
It is rare... and depends on what game you're playing.
Last month I got Spiderman WoS and that game froze on me most times than the rest of the freezes I've got with the rest of my gaming library.
But the game is a glitchfest, so...
Until Sony has a three year warranty zip it PS3 fanboys about RROD. If my PS3 breaks after a year and Sony wants me to pay $150 to fix it I'll tell them to shove it.
PS3_3DO
Until the ylod problem gets as big as the rrod 360 fanboys zip it. ;)
freezing does happen, but it doesn't affect your system. it happened twice, when i was playing cod4. and then i never got it again. simple solution to freezing: turn off the main power. :D
My PS3 does freeze but my 360 freezes once in a while too. I'm sure the rate of RROD is still higher than the YLOD even though they 'fixed' it.
Realize that a lot of people go to forums for help when their system breaks. The YLOD problem only looks larger because you're on the Sony forums. BTW PSU was way better when it was PSU, and not PSN.
Anyways, like mentioned before even though the YLOD happens far less often at least there's a 3 year warranty for 360's, and not some bogus $150 charge like Sony has.
I was having to hard start my PS3 quite frequently as of late and was worried something else was wrong...I doubt it had anything to do with it,,but when I switch my ISP over to Version Fios 20/5 service.....It went to freezing almost every session.....to it has not in over 3 months..
I've had my ps3 for 2 years and it's froze on me maybe 2-3 times. The RRod happened 3 times within 7 months of my 360. Also I forgot to mention that I did have a TERRIBLE problem I couldn't get any help from. I had not even seen it posted in any forums after doing a couple of hours of research, but for some reason my games wouldn't start up anymore, I couldn't log onto PSN, I couldn't download games etc. I found out something happened to my hard drive, because after I did a full hard drive format which took 3+ hours my ps3 was up and running perfectly. It hasn't happened again, but it was very worrisome, but fortunately no one else has had that problem. Also it wasn't my game files because I backed them all up and they all worked perfectly.
RROD was worse but it virtually completely fixed now. I got my 360 (Jasper) in January and it hasn't frozen or RROD'ed a single time.
That being said, I have never even heard of YLOD so I can't imagine that its that big of a problem. My friend who owns a PS3 has never complained about it.
[QUOTE="In_Ur_Face_Fool"]ylod effects many ppl. I know http://boardsus.playstation.com/playstation/board/message?board.id=ps3&thread.id=3629439 the unoffical ylod thread vs rrodStealthKnife2% of ps3 get ylod 39% of 360s get RROD (that used to be 60%)
Fake statistics you pulled out your ass?
I'm quite shocked at the love people are giving for the 3 year warranty... You people do realize, that the -only- reason that's in effect, is because MS pretty much had the EU ready to rip them a new one if they didn't do something about it, right? In fact, if MS hadn't of offered it, they may as well have waved goodbye to the console war, as they'd have probably been forced to issue a full recall, which would have pretty much killed their gaming division off.jonnyt61
Yah? I'm also surprised that people would rather get their system fixed for free than spend $150 to get it fixed. Quite surprised actually.
