The N64 version is smoother and has more detailed character models. The PlayStation versions pre-rendered backgrounds appear blotchy in comparison, although it sounds better due to the CD format.
RE2 was bomb you should have posted some pictures of Leon holding the gun with the gangsta lean. I don't know what to say about this comparison. They look pretty close but I guess the PS looks better. It had more storage for higher res backgrounds than the N64 cart.
I think the Playstation version is definitely better than the 64 even though I only had a 64 at the time. For the same reasons, I think PS3 games like RE5 could end up being way more entertaining on the PS3 than 360 due to blue ray discs. Unless of course, they put RE5 on multiple DVD9 discs for 360. I love RE2, but why discuss this now?
Mate, this could be hard on you, but...you've travelled into the future. It is now 2007. But i can say this, the CGI was heavily compressed on the N64 cartridges (and badly done) and there was not a lot of difference in the graphics in-game. Overall, the N64 one was just a bad port. The original is superior (just like how RE4 on the Gamecube (Nintendo's nextgen) is superior to the one on the PS2 (Sony's ext gen)).

you do know that it was a challenge itslef to fit the game in the cartridge , but i cant say i only play the ps1 version, but you know what who cares , cause RE:crnicles is coming to the wii and then RE5 ois coming out too,so lets look the future RE titles isntead of the ones from like 10 years ago

People get what you're saying, but what people like you forget is that RE4 was created to make the franchise more appealing to a wider range of audience. It's like MEtroid fans saying Prime is a disgrace to the Metroid series because it doesn't "feel" like a Metroid game. Love it or loath it RE4 is a RE game.
Well.....At least this is something new and original. Not some Wii vs a rock in graphics comparison. PS1 version background and CGI cutscenes look much more cleaner, while N64 character models look more better...

RE2 is the best RE game. RE4 might have the better controls but RE2 was a masterpiece. I almost crapped my pants 5 minutes into the game when the zombies pop there hands out in a narrow corridor. At least there actually was a real storyline in RE2.
