Yeah, that makes sense.

I don't really care what label I'm given. It's not going to affect my enjoyment of any game.

yeah, i would agree with that. fanboys that want a rival console to fail amaze me. it's like they identify themselves as a ps3/360/wii owner instead of a gamer....I guess they fail to realize that if any console fails it will hurt the gaming industry. on another note, and no offense meant to you, the-very-best, but i've been impressed with your discussions lately

I own all the systems (except a now broken 360). Just because one of them has crappy games that makes me not like it doesn't mean I'm not a true gamer.

I play as much as I can to criticize what I see going wrong.

See i have a problem with this. I can understand why someone would dislike a company, dislike the hardware they produce yet like games on their system. See I hate Sony for trying to trojan horse their Blueray into homes on the backs of gamers but that doesn't mean I hate Motorstorm (damn fun game btw).

I think that if MS hadn't of stepped up to the plate this gen we would all be suffering as gamers. Sony, when they were dominant, became so arrogant that they thought they could launch a console with virtually no games...and even went to the trouble of telling us we would buy it without games, HA!

So while I love games and game developers, I can also hate companies and their hardware. Next gen MS may be the devil to me, or they all might get my support...who knows.

I agree with TC. It is fun every once in a while to talk some trash and poke fun but SW is just plain out of control at times. People like Socrates wishing MS would "get out" of gaming and what not. Even if you own one system you want another out there to push your system to new heights. I just know thanks to the Wii, 360, & PS3 I will be flat broke come the holiday season. Oh noes teh games are coming!!

I use to like Nintendo even though I gamed much more on my PC Engine and Neo Geo, but the SNES days were excellent. But when N refused to adopt optical media, started making us buy addons like rumble packs and memory expansion packs, and many of its game keeping with the same formula during the N64 to the GC days, I was tired of them and their rehashes.

PS1 had a huge collection of games that is new to me. Ever played Bushido Blade? Kagero Deception 2? Ore no Ryouri? Unique games I haven't seen anywhere else. That's what Sony does. They make the best platform, at their own expense, unbiased to the devs needs.

And I play MUCH more genres than just FPS and I really doubt Loco Roco has an 18+ rating.

Edit: actually, I'd like to add that I do play more 18+ rating games because I am 18+. I apologize if my needs are involving and thrilling, epic stories with excellent gameplay and the best visuals to deliver these elements, but that's how mature people think when they outgrow the shallow days of their lives.

I agree with the OP, a person that enjoys playing videogames shouldn't be made to feel that they have joined some form of hierachy. We are all simply individuals that share a common form of entertainment. But in a gaming forum, I think the "spitting" contests that people get into are entertaining. I'm an "old-schooler", lolso luckily I'm more in the clear than most. Anyway here is a pic that I think that we can all enjoy....

I've played almost every console ever conceived since 1985, and ive had great fun with all. Yes ultimately the gaming experience is not up to blind fanboys but people playing games to enjoy themselves.

But alas, this is system wars, standards are somewhat...lower here. Welcome.

And just a quick note, the only consoles ive ever owned have been nintendo's, so if you were ignorant you would label me a fanboy, but, I actually greatly enjoy playing my friends xbox360, and my pc. I also had great fun with a ps3 for 3 days (i rented it).

IF I had the money i would have every console with every hald-decent game. But i don't, so i get what brings me the most enjoyment, and what is the cheapest.

Its cool so see you have a NTCS Snes and PAL Snes (FTW!).

Still the absence of a gaming PC is a bit disturbing (noting your mega collection) ;)

Nah, man. A true gamer is someone who makes fun of casuals who play "Rubbish" like Halo and GTA.

They're the ones who play Chronicles of Riddick, and then brag about it; however, if Riddick were to sell more than 200,000 copies, they'd stop playing it, 'cause then it would be casual filth.

They're the ones who played Katamari Damacy - before it was cool. They're the ones who wouldn't play a great mainstream FPS (stupid casual filth...) but get in a tizzy over crazy JRPG's like GrimGrimoire or Shin Megami Tensei.

That's a true gamer.

/Sarcasm To The Max.

On a side note, you're right. A true gamer is one who just enjoys games, no matter how popular or unpopular they are, no matter how hardcore or mainstream they are, and acknowledge a good game on another system even if they don't own it.

A real gammer is a person who plays games, very simple. I like system wars because it gives me a chuckle but in reality I don't hate any system. I own a 360 now because my loving wife bought me one for my birthday last year and now that we have kids on the way (any day now actually) it is not fiscally responsible for me to buy any more systems at this time. I would love to get my hands on a ps3 but it will not happen. And I would also love to get a Wii some day (maybe once my kids are old enough to enjoy it I will). But I am a gammer because I play games not because I own a particular system. True gamers do not care about that crap only fanboys worry about what system you play the games on.

No, because casuals can play games for fun and own more than one console and still be a total and complete fanboy who makes ignorant posts that show they knownothing about gaming.

OR what if someone owns all consoles and play games but only plays mature games and bashes everything he considers "kiddie".

Frankly, I've even seen many people who claim to own all consoles in a generation act like a clueless fanboy.

I would add the disclaimer that true gamers don't judge games by their score or their "image", and that true gamers are interested in the industry and not just promoting their console of choice.

Well.

I like every console - Wii, PS3 and 360. Seame goes for hand helds - DS and PSP.

Ive been gaming since I was 5, and own stacks of other consoles + handhelds,

I do have my own personal preferances though. PC gaming is my favourite.

Does that make me a 'true gamer'?

The very definition is a bit vauge....
