You CAN NOT store your PS5 games on an external drive

Since space is at a premium on these new consoles one option being spoken about was to store the games you are currently not playing on an external drive. While you can do that on the XBOX Series consoles for any generation of game from the original to the XSX/S exclusive games, it seems that with the PS5 you can only store old titles on an external drive

*** I am NOT talking about playing a game from the external but the ability to transfer a game to the external that you are not currently playing but don't want to have to redownload***

WTF is going on with the PS5? I got to concede that it just feels like bad news upon bad news. @sealionact you won this one.

That's ridiculous. The list of lacking or inferior features on the PS5 is getting absurd. The weird thing is, it's a pretty nice kit in a vacuum - I'm not sure I can say Sony got lazy or phoned it in. But they didn't put nearly as much thought and ingenuity into this when stacked up against the competition. It better have a killer library....

That's kinda shitty, especially coupled with no internal expansion at launch. Sony should get on this in a FW update.

I guess none of the people with preview units were allowed to talk about it, or never bothered to check. Maybe now is the time just to make a list of all the things Sony forced influencers not to talk about.

I also think its a bit grim that they still haven't confirmed a m2 drive that can be used. DF tried one and it wouldn't even boot.

Remember how long it took ps4 to support external drives? Lol... this will probably be patched into the system later on. Pretty lame though.

The PS5 supports External Drives though.

No reason for not being able to transfer PS5 games onto an external drive. Sure you can't boot or load games off it. But you should be able to Store the games on it

I have a 2TB External SSDThat i'll store a bunch of XSX games on it and move around games i need to the main drive. I can't play those games off the external...but i don't need to. I also don't want to delete and redownload a 60GB game that can take ages.

So? Just do what ps4 users did for the first three years of that console. Delete finished games. It’s not like movie or qte games have much replay value anyway.

Sony fans have to make noise over this. The hard-drive is not particularly large and not being able to use your external to backup your games is absolutely ridiculous.

Well, there isn't that many games to play right now. So while an issue later, not exactly one at launch

Almost half of the PS5 drive is NOT 250GB but over 400+GB. Stop making stuff up.

Me, personally, i still cannot believe this god damn system doesn't support 1440p natively. Holy f*ck. I will never get over this. Its such a big deal to me that all the other negatives (and the system has a ton of them) are forgotten.

I thought this would be a feature for sure with a digital only console option. That's pretty crazy and lame. Sony needs to fix this and the 1440p support with a firmware update very soon.

It's not a crazy deal breaker for me since I don't keep games installed if I'm not playing them anyway. It's just a weird thing to not have. They'll probably add it in an update if people complain enough as @Pedro suggested.

@Pedro: My apologies. I thought I read somewhere different specs. CoD comes out to 133GBs. Still a lot of space though - especially on the digital ps5.

So let me get this straight:

• doesnt support 1440p natively
• inferior GPU and CPU compared to the competition
• Series X loads games faster then the PS5 (even though PS5's SSD is suppose to be faster)
• And now you cant store PS5 games on an external HDD?

When you look at all the features of the PS5, you have to wonder what is so impressive. Seriously, how can they not let there users transfer games back and forth on the SSD to an external SSD/HDD?

Sony ponies can continue to damage control all they want, but sooner or later they have to say enough.

Xbox Series X is killing PS5 in design, hardware and features.

Lol, downloaded console games. Unless it's actually much cheaper than the disc (like with Gravity Rush Remastered), I would never buy a game from the PlayStation store. This is only more reason not to.
