Either that or some of us just don't like MGS's st yle of gameplay, and we find it to be repetitive, gimmicky and boring. God help us if two people don't share the same opinions :roll:.
I'm always like yeah, lets compare an action stealth shooting terrorists game to an action stealth shooting cowboy terrorists with magic riccochet bullets, flying psionic terrorists, invisible robot ninja terrorists and terrorists driving mechs with rocket arms and frikkin lazer eyes.
Can we finally end this whole comparing MGS and SC thing? Please? It's a joke.
Yeah, that or you could just be completely turned off by the entire nonsensical storyline that took place since after the original MGS for the PS1 (which was freaking awesome by the way) as it has one of the dumbest plot lines of all time.

Seriously, the only reason I play the MGS series is it does have some great gameplay. But their are other parts of the game that keep me from preferring it over other series.
SC:C looks interesting and I like the concept. However, I disliked the forth so I may hesitate to buy or even hype it. Then again, Double Agent is the only SC game I've played so I yet to try out the prequals. This game is on my list but until the critics' and players' reviews come in, I'll have to wait and see.
Also, no, it's not stupid to think SC:C is going to be better than MGS4. I'll disagree but it's all opinion. Hec, I perfer Killzone over Halo. *holds flameshield*

Seconded. I don't recall the original Metal Gear being that ridiculous. Psychic ninjas? Fat bombers on rollerskates? Severed limbs possessing their new hosts? Comm analysts yapping on about Godzilla or their anniversary? Unkillable women in love with vampires?
Splinter Cell's story may be less exotic, but it's quite a bit more plausible. Couple that with the broken-into-chunks level design and generally flat environment, and I finally wrote MGS2 off halfway through. I tried MGS3, but didn't even bother after half an hour - it sucks far worse than MGS2. I don't think I had as much fun at any point in MGS2 as I have on average in any Splinter Cell game.
Now, I won't argue that many people enjoy Metal Gear Solid, but I hate the series, and I'm sick of pretentious fanboys telling me I must not be as smart as they are for not enjoying its story.
What sets SC apart from MGS is multiplayer which increases the replay value. But I have an idea, lets wait till both are out and reviewed before you make any judgement, so that way you won't get owned.
