Nintendont have no shame. :P

Sheep, you all okay with this?

Thoughts?

The Story.

---

Nintendo unveils Wii U Virtual Console

You'll need to re-buy games bought on Wii Virtual Console.

Nintendo has announced the Wii U Virtual Console, the service for downloading old games made for old Nintendo machines.

The Wii U Virtual Console is due to launch after a spring system update, but games will take time to appear. You won't get all those games available on the Wii Virtual Console at once.

Wii U Virtual Console titles are being individually re-jigged to include Miiverse functionality and GamePad play, meaning, wince, you'll need to pay to download new versions of games you've already bought. To help this situation there will be a significant discount for anyone buying on the Wii U Virtual Console a game they own on Wii Virtual Console.

1

The service will initially have NES and SNES games. There was no mention of GameCube titles. Other platforms will follow, including Game Boy Advance for the first time, Iwata said. (Game Boy Advance titles were actually already available to 3DS Ambassadors on 3DS, but oh well).

Before the service launches, Nintendo will offer a number of NES games to try for 30p ($0.30) for 30 days. Titles include Balloon Fight (available today) and Mario & Yoshi.

Miiverse will be expanded with user communities and additional communities for games to avoid posts being buried too quickly. These features will be added around the time of Wii Fit U launch later this year.

Miiverse will also launch on smartphones this spring as a browser-based experience. A full app will arrive at a later date

You need to pay to have the extra features with the Wii U. But you can still play them without paying.

You can still play all your Wii Virtual Console games on your Wii U for FREE. You only need to rebuy them (at $1 apiece) if you want Wii U exclusive features. I wouldn't complain.

technically you only need to pay extra (and it's cheaper than pocket change) if you really want to use the gamepad.

Either fire up Wii mode and play them that way, or pay $1 - $1.50 for Gamepad play.

I see nothing bad about this.

That's really not that bad. Considering most people around here didn't even indulge in virtual console they won't really be having this issue. For people like myself, playing something like Secret of Mana off and on screen certainly isn't a huge deal for 1.50

btw I think the Try the NES games for $.30 for 30 days program ACTUALLY means, the NES games for that Month will be avalible on a discounted price of $.30 for 30 days.

Not pay $.30 for 30 days.

Preferably yes but I mean, if you don't wanna you can still just play in wiimode. I wish the Wiiware games could get off screen modifiers. Man, Lost Winds 1+2 off screen would be godly.

This seems misleading. Basically what I understand is that the games you already have for Wii VC will have some extra features for Wii U VC and that's what you would pay for.

Anyone with two brain cells seeing the VC games being locked to the console would have seen this coming a mile away. A smart person would have bought the original game on it's original system and not paid money for a glorified ROM service. I have no problems with it because I won't ever use it, like I did with the original VC.

No reason for it. Could it have been that difficult to write a new emulator for these ROMs? Why does the game need to be resold for Miiverse functionality? Its a cash grab. I've held onto my Wii for Virtual Console, and probably will continue to do so.

You don't need to purchase any game to use its Miiverse community.

Basically, you need to pay a small fee to upgrade your old VC game to the Wii U version of it.

This time you can play all those games on the Wii U gamepad itself, since it has all inputs needed.

Off-TV play is an extremely attractive function, especially since the games will look better on the small screen.

Bro, you CAN transfer all your games onto the Wii U and continue playing them for free. Nintendo isn't charging you for that, all they're charging you for is the Wii U functionality, which you don't have to have.
