Your Biggest Gaming Fail?

Mine was the 7 day achievement for Dead Rising.

On the last midnight i got cocky so i went to tease the Convicts / bad idea/.

My mistake came when i tossed my food book at them , which they got stuck on a wall with the book under the truck.

I needed the book to survive , so i hade to waste my shotgun on the driver.

Lost health , no shotgun , no food , yeah , i went to the Food Cort - where Carlito had spawned with a machine gun.

All this made me forget where is the last food i left there , and such , i lost 14 hours of my life running around the mall like a headless chicken collecting food.

Came back and got the achievement 6 years later.

What game feat you tried , to only get egg on your face?

When I first played The Last Remnant, I decided I didn't need to refer to a guide to play it.

I got 20-30 hours into the game and got to the Gates of Hell. Was getting massacred. Turns out I had missed a lot of the best characters because of random bullshit you had to do to get them.

So I restarted the game from the beginning and that 20-30 hours went to waste.

Fucking Japanese games

Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 for the 360. Went for all the achievements and only missed one. The only reason I never went for it was because it required me to replay the whole game all over again due to it being in a spot you could not return too. This to this day irritates me to no end that I have to replay an entire game and do all the side missions again just for one achievement. I will never have the patience to max level all my characters again just for one achievement worth 10 points.

I bought Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3. Twice.

playing super mario bros fairly recently (the nes version) and i died at the very first enemy...on the first level :S. i thought i judged the jump just right...and i did...to land just right in front of the goomba :(.

im really really rusty at 2d platformers. thats my excuse and im sticking to it :P.

i dont remember what is the worst but the latest one has to do with suikoden 2.

i have a guide for finding all 108 characters but i missed one of the conditions to recruit character because i didnt realize that when on a story mission, all recruitable characters disappear. so i was 19 hours in but i restarted. on my 2nd playthrough, i got to where i left off in 13 hours but i noticed that i only had 1 of one of my fav runes while my first playthrough, i had two. After some research i found out it was only attainable in an area i could not go back to. i went back and started a third one while trying to farm for a certain rune. i printed out another more comprehensive guide for getting all 108 characters. i think im finally on track

Buying Xcom. Game gets old fast.

Most recent would be that I gave up on Bloodborne. Would have liked the platinum because I got them for Demon's Souls, Dark Souls and Dark Souls 2 but I just couldn't force myself to get the last trophy for the queen in those horrible chalice dungeons. Already wasted much time on defeating the damn watchdog and even more on defiled Amygdala. I heard that the three bosses in the last dungeon are much easier but the descendant broke my patience. Didn't even try that often to beat him but I just couldn't do it any longer expecting the beast after that to be even worse. I guess I could have done it after putting the game down for a couple of days but I already deleted it.

Buying Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance. That was the worst purchase of my video game life.

Using RP to buy champions in League of Legends.

I played Fallout 3 without doing any side-quests, was near the end of the game and wasn't even level 10 yet.

Let me think... missing 2-3 times in a row as a Scout against someone that is not looking at me fighting another guy. Bonus points if they are standing there.

It's pretty shameful if you have the kind of aim I have in TF2 to be sure. On the servers I used to play in, missing one or two times from fairly close range pretty much meant death. If they are occupied, it also usually meant death.

Okami - Forgetting to use the mist to blind the guards to see the Princess.

I got really bummed during our overnight PC rental party and I was supposed to level boost my friends.

My friends pitched in in game cash and I felt really pathetic lol.

Being a fanboy as a youth.

To my defense, I was a child. I had a stupid idea in my head that nobody other than Nintendo can make good games or host a decent library on a system. I saw the error of my ways and by the time I was 13 or 14 years old... I decided to get a PlayStation. Best thing ever to happen to me.

If blows my fucking mind that adults are voluntary fanboys. I always thought it was part of growing up as a gamer... getting over your fanboyism and being a actual gamer to play and experience more of the industry and craft and, frankly... have more fun. I see adults talking down about Nintendo, PlayStation, Xbox and the PC platforms here in SW as if the companies simply can't do anything but produce shit. It's like walking into a mental hospital here sometimes. I can't fucking believe it.

Unfortunately I once owned a Playstation.

Somehow reaching the final boss in Final Fantasy IV only Level 42-45 for my entire party.

to be fair,i'm only a fanboy in SW, for the lolz. (i think everyone else is too) outside of the 'net, i'm not one.

I was playing Counter Strike Source and I was on the T side. We had planted the bomb and for some reason while I was camping the site, I some how thought I was a CT (Prob cause I picked up a M4 at one point) and I tried to defuse the bomb.

This is more of a friend's biggest gaming fail but I have funny youtube videos to go with it. Me, him and some other guys played as a group during Dayz's glory days, and one of the varients, Dayz Origins, had Bi-Plaines that you could find, repair, and fly to an island with amazing loot. My friend who was supposed to be the pilot of the group managed to crash the plane on take-off twice in a row after we spent hours repairing/fueling them. Anyone who played early Dayz knows how much of a pain it is to repair vehicles, the danger of even being at an airfield, and how bad these fails are.

I happened to be recording for the second incident:

I wasn't in part one but I'll include the video since its pretty funny as well. Especially because the pilot who crashes the plane jumps out and dies even though he would have survived if he stayed in.

Not an individual fail but more of a long running one. I used to play RtCW in a clan and I could literally stand in a tight group and be the only person to die from RPG fire, it was almost guaranteed that if anyone died, it would be me. This occurred so often that one of my clan mates stated that I was the only person he knew who could die from a RPG fired on a different server!

i bought ps4, had to return that piece of shit after a few months. Shitty controller, no games, crap multiplats.

Can't aim with analog sticks. I suck so bad that you will probably think I have never picked up a controller or played a shooter before.

Lots of mistakes in Dota. Ulting + manta style as CK and then literally sending in the original on a suicide mission because I forgot to control + click, fucked up ward placements, screwing over teammates with Io ult, dooming creeps, forgetting about entire items (BKB, TP boots, etc) sitting on the courier/stash for over 15 mins, ulting creeps as AM, TPing in as Tinker and suiciding, disrupting my own channel on Sand King by prematurely blinking, zipping across as Storm Spirit and suiciding. I used to check Dota cinema's weekly fails expecting that I was gonna pop up on one of those vids but I never did.

Also, I have a tendency to not respect my boundaries and learn games from the top-down. Fighting games are a huge testament to that because I have an extreme tendency to learn ridiculously unsafe combos while completely skipping fundamentals. So when it comes to match time I just get bodied by stupid shit because I don't have the presence of mind to keep a chill head and enter into full panic/button mashing mode.

Edit: I also have a tendency to overthink puzzles. I've restarted games countless times thinking I fucked up something like meeting the Deku tree in Wind Waker, didn't realize you could just roll into the tree so I restarted the game, got frustrated at the same situation, started mashing buttons and knocked into the tree. I don't even want to talk about the Water temple in Ocarina of Time.

Not many. But, I recall playing the Crysis demo like it was Battlefield (no cloak, no powers, no customizations) with weapons remaining in the same state when I picked them up. Then I wondered why Nomad was being shredded by the eagle-eyed KPA. After a couple of weeks, I decided to read the instructions.

I played Eternal Darkness with a full sanity meter, I didn't understand I was supposed to let it deplete to see scary shit, I just figured I wasn't supposed to let it deplete so I didn't and kept charging it back up when I saw it go low and had time to do it. Though, I didn't like the game so I never bothered to give it another shot.

Never finished Sheep Raider because of how difficult it was. hey i was like 6 year old. if i get a chance i'll finish this thing.

Team killing mistakes during CS 1.6 scrims, because for the longest time I never bothered to look at the radar.

Buying Sonic 06. I played it for a day and couldn't take it anymore.

Buying the Wii, hated using that Wiimote. Celda was the best game I played on that system lol.

Mine was probably Rock Band 2's Endless Playlist. Played through it once, only to halt to a stop after several hours because I could not get through Green Grass and High Tides on Expert difficulty. Tried again a few months later, and failed once more. :(
