Speculation is often stupid, with hardly enough info to actually say something meaningful.... BUT .....Speculating is also kinda fun tho! So what the heck, lets do some crazy speculating just for fun......screw 2012, lets look at next year! Next year we already have a good idea of the big hitters. But of all of them, theres FOUR games that seem practically impossible to fail: GTAV, Last of Us, and Bioshock Infinite. (update) also WATCHDOGS OF COURSE! Their developers are so good, and trailers for them are so impressive, that im gonna go out in a limb and say GoTY will be a battle between these three games. For fun, speculate the GoTY of next year. Will it be the insane bioshock infinite, the ambitious Last of Us, or the amazing joyride GTAV. Or the unique watchdogs! (If you dont wanna do crazy guessing, at least say which one u care about most)

Though its still thought by many watchdogs will come next year on current gen consoles, i think its very debatable. I think theres good chance it will be a 2014 title, and maybe not even this gen. Thats my good guess tho, its release date has been kinda vague

It's SimCity, it is going to be good. There is no such thing as a bad SimCity game. And yes, you should put it in, since Ubisoft confirmed its release date to be H2 2013.

I think it has an upperhand. It looks better than the Uncharted series, and that always has its hat in the GOTY Discussion. I would say SimCity and Company of Heroes are more the level in that they have to prove themselves before being seriously considered. And that leaves us with only time to tell

I didn't say inferior at all; I said as good as. And SimCity games are absolutely incredible. The fifth one looks like it will be the best one yet. You should play one of them, you'll understand :P (And no, as good as they were, the SNES and PS1 versions don't count lol)

Between Last of US, GTAV, Tales of Xilia and Watch Dogs I can't decide. It's a good problem to have, unlike this year

This year had alot of good games but it seems like the only game that really got mega praise with both the critics and fans this year was Halo 4. Assassins creed and me3 are amazing games, but the fans are slamming both of their endings. And ac3 reviews were great but had a couple oddly low scores

Yep, that's why We see Sly, GoW, Ni No Kuni, Beyond, and all those being said to be GOTY contenders on a regular basis (Sarcasm, if you can't tell). In reality, its just a GOTY contender that happens to be a PS3 exclusive. Ultimately, this is the best way to describe what I think of you attempts to discredit it...

Well simcity will probs win pc GOTY, but overall GoTY, i think its very unlikely. Maybe. We'll see. Maxis has never once let me down (well, except for Spore, but that game was too ambitious for its own good), and SimCity looks like their best effort yet. The Last of Us will, like I said, be great for what it is; it might even be the best game of its kind. Actually no, scratch that, I say God of War will be better :P But yes, TLoU objectively looks very good. I won't deny that. I just happen to not care :P

I very much doubt both. Company of Heroes has too much competition in Rome 2: Total War for me to think it'll rise high enough in comparison to it to get a GOTY contention. SimCity has a lot to prove on its own, since the series hasn't really scored all that well in quite a while.

I very much doubt both. Company of Heroes has too much competition in Rome 2: Total War for me to think it'll rise high enough in comparison to it to get a GOTY contention. SimCity has a lot to prove on its own, since the series hasn't really scored all that well in quite a while.

The last mainline entry in the series was SimCity 4, nearly a decade ago, and it scored well enough.

84 on Metacritic and 8.1 here. A great game, sure, but not in the range of GOTY contenders.

Sure, and like I said, objectively, I have no doubts that The Last of Us will be great. I believe it. I like Naughty Dog and the Uncharted games, and I have no problems admitting their expertise, or their status as an elite developer. It's just, the setting and core concept of The Last of Us leaves me absolutely cold, and if I have to go with a linear game, then God of War is my pick (not that God of War isn't awesome anyway; one of the best series in modern gaming).

Well,if that´s the "requirement" i don´t think CoH needs to prove much,the previous gwme has a 90 on GS and a 93 on meta,and the same goes for Rome 2 for instance,having every single entry of the franchise being AA and most of the latest ones AAA(both here and meta),not to mention it´s the direct sequel to one of the all time greats.

It's the direct sequel to the best game in the franchise, actually <3 Rome. And to think I never even played any of the Total War games till this summer...
