Your favorite female protagonist in games?

Okay, look. Don't want a war up in here, lol. If you don't like girls in games, fine, don't care. That's your prerogative. But if you do, I mean like in terms of main characters, then what's your favorite? Your criteria can be anything, character writing, abilities, appearance, yada-yada. It's up to you.

Mine is and has always been Heather Mason from Silent Hill 3. Tough, smart, and able to make somewhat acidic, somewhat subtle sardonic statements at will even when she's in the middle of what is arguably the Ninth Circle of Hell. Moreover, even when she loses her dad, she's able to shoulder it and power on through said Ninth Circle. Very inspiring stuff.

So what about yooz guyz?

Toss up between Tifa and Aerith from Final Fantasy VII Rebirth.

Regina of Dino Crisis, Jill Valentine of RE and FeMC of Persona 3 Portable for leads.

I really liked Lara Croft in the reboot games but specifically the first entry, the rest she is basically Nathan Drake minus the charm.

Always been an Aerith girl.

Joanna Dark (from the Perfect Dark series). She kicks a lot of ass.

Bayonetta, she's just cool, and hot.

I'm very flexible for female characters that I like. In Paladins alone, I have a wide range of girls that I play:

• Ying
• Ash
• Inara
• Imani
• Willo
• Lian
• Io
• Evie
• Maeve
• Furia
• Lilith
• Nyx
• Seris
• Cassie

They have a range of looks and personalities. Some are very nice, some are evil, some are calm, some are crazy, etc. Even different species and looks. Some are muscular, some are slim, some are tall, some are very short, some are black, some are white, some are Asian, and some aren't even human.

• Big fan of Alyx, from Half-Life.
• FemShep from Mass Effect. Actually, pretty much all the ladies from Mass Effect.
• There are A LOT of great ladies in Star Wars: The Old Republic (interesting since it's an MMO). Lana Beniko is pretty great since she is a Sith, but she is also kind of a good Sith, if there could be one?

Hmmm I'm actually kind of drawing a blank here. There's a lot of great ladies in video games, can't think of a lot right now lol. I make a lot of female characters and they tend to be pretty great.

Really enjoyed her evolution throughout the series; she went from naive grad student to underworld information broker to basically the savior of the galaxy second only to Shepard.

Alyx and Samus, absolutely. And yeah, there are a bunch of great female characters across years. Another one is Aya from Parasite Eve. Or Trip from Enslaved. Also really like Morrigan from the first Dragon Age.

Bayonetta, not only because Bayonetta 2 is my favorite action game ever but also because she as a protagonist, makes fake feminists mad.

Ellie from TLOU 1 is pretty cool too.

Clementine from Walking Dead.

And of course, the OG, Samus Aran because she is that badass.

@BenjaminBanklin: Yeah, fighting games do have a lot of cool ladies. Some of my favorites would be Taki, Orchid, Momiji, Vanessa Lewis, and of course Chun Li.

As far as protagonists of their own game, Jesse Faden really won me over in Control. The way she's thrust into this bizzare situation and it all kind of grows on her was an interesting arc. Not in a campy "I live for the fight" kind of way, more like she starts to feel natural imeresed in the supernatural.

Bayonetta on the other had, is campy fun, and that's cool too.

Part of me wishes they would just come out and cancel the thing so we could move on, but no, they keep saying they are still working on it. Supposedly the PoP Lost Crown team was made of developers who needed a break from the soul crushing BGE2 slog.
