Let's take a trip down memory lane shall we....

For PC:

1. Half-Life:

The game that revolutionized first person shooter. One of the best titles to ever hit the PC. Had great gameplay, interactivity and looked pretty good using a modified Quake 2 engine.

2. Unreal:

Without a doubt this game was the Crysis of 1998. Had stunning visuals, the len's flare, fantastic lighting, not to mention the levels, just like Crysis were vast compared to other shooters on the market.

3. Duke Nukem 3D

Duke Nukem 3D is probably the most time I spent as a kid playing games in the 90's. It was SO Different from all the shooters out on the market at the time. Instead of being in dungeons or in an alien world, Duke Nukem 3D set you in a real-life world where aliens have invaded and it's up to Duke to kick their ass and chew bubble gum. Did I mention the babes, t*** and strippers in the game. :P This game was about as adult as you can get.

2011 will be a watershed moment in gaming history. The longest time a game has been in development for has finally been released. I finally got to play another Duke game after....what seems like an eternity. Hopefully the next game won't be in development for 14 long years.

And oh yeah...Hail to the King baby! :D

Quake 2:

One of the best shooters that ID Software has produced in my opinion. It was un-adulturated sex riding on your 3D accelerator (yes people called GPU or graphics cards "3D accelerators") back in the day. :P

3. The Need For Speed

Who would have thought this would be the begining of the biggest racing franchise in history.

4. One Must Fall 2097:

Played this game to death on my PC. You fight as robots! :)

5. Raptor Call of the Shadows:

One of the best over the top shooters from the 90's. Had great graphics and gameplay.

6. Warcraft 2:

Ors and humans. I remember the last level being hard. And "are you still touching me". :P

7. Mortal Kombat

The best fighting series IMO.

8. Tomb Raider

One of the best, if not the best 3rd person action adventure series in history. Video games finally had a prominent and hot feminine lead.

9. Thief

One of the best stealth action adventure game of all time. Wish they would make another Thief game.

10.Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit

Need For Speed brought a Hot Pursuit mode to the Need For Speed franchise, where you could play as cop and be chased by the cops.

Let's move on to the consoles shall we....

1. Super Mario 64:

One of my favorite games from when I was a kid on the N64.

2. Goldeneye

Best FPS for the N64 in my opinion. An instant ****c. You could play a re-make version of the game on Steam called Goldeneye Source. I play it from time to time. It's free BTW.

Sony Playstation:

1. Crash Bandicoot

Have fond memories of playing this on my childhood friend's Playstation.

2. Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee

Another great game. Wish they would made a re-make.

2. Need For Speed 2 PS

A great sequal to the original Need For Speed. If you had a PC you could played the Need For Speed 2 SE with a Voodoo graphics card.

Other notable mention:

1. Forsaken

A descent like game but the graphics were much better than Descent. It's easily the second best looking game of 1998 after Unreal. GS gave it a score of 8.9. I think this game went under-appreciated.

You could download the full game and run it in HD widescreen for free here:

http://forsakenplanet.tk/

I still remember the commercial they used to play with the slogan, "The Future is Forsake!" , "The Future is Forsake!".

Anyways, that's all I have that I could think off the top of my head.

So, what are some of your favorite games from the 90's? :)

2. Sin

This game went underappreciated mainly due to the hype surrounding Half-Life and initial bugs of the game (which was later fixed). Cast including the sexy Elexis Sinclaire.

3. Mortal Kombat 3

Played this game a lot on the PC. Don't know what the hell is Midway smoking by not bringing the latest Mortal Kombat on the PC.

4. Lion King

A game based on one of my favorite childhood movies, The Lion King!

5. Moto Racer:

This game had super fast speed one of the best acrade type of games to be realeased in 1998. Did I mention how fast it was.

6. Moto Racer 2:

A good sequal to the original Moto Racer.

Lastly I have to pay hommage to 3DFX, one of great pioneers to bring 3D graphics from the 90's. Before there was ATI and nVidia bringing state of the art graphics to the market it was 3DFX that played a leading role in the 90's. The great graphics we have today has it's roots from the great engineers and people who worked at 3DFX. I will never remember forget the first time I saw 3DFX graphics running on the arcade game San Franciso Rush powered by Voodoo graphics. It was quite stunning.

That's all I got for today.

So, what are your guys favorite games from the 90's.

Sneaking out from my bed time to watch my uncle play Ocarina of Time. The part where you had to sneak into the castle to find Zelda.

Watching my Brother and Dad play the original Dragon Warrior, and my dad always made maps of each dungeon by following the right hand rule and drawing the walls around him.

Playing Dragon Warrior Monsters 2 with my brother, I had Cobi's Journey, and He had Tara's adventure, we would always combine our monsters to get the best monster.

Going to Toys R Us. with my mom to get Super Smash Brothers, and having to grab those little price ticket things out of the game section and bringing it to someone so they could retrieve the actual phsyical game.

Borrowing my friends original Game Boy, with Pokemon blue, and he told me not to save it, but I did anyways, and I could get through the Veridian Forest, because I didn't know you could just walk into the darkness at the very end.

Then on Christmas I got the Gameboy Color (Green) along with pokemon Blue, the strategy guide, and a link cable. While my brother got the same but with pokemon red, and the purple Gameboy. We would play all day.

And finally on another Christmas when my brother and I both got GBA's but I got Megaman Battle Network, the only GBA game, and my brother got no game because he wasn't as good as me.

I doubt anyone cares, but it's nice to remember all these things, I really wish I could go back in time. I love my parents.

Loving Doom on my iPad 2 right now, I'd even go as far as saying its the best port of it ever. Duke Nukem 3D really sucks hard on it though because they badly messed up the controls, its completely unplayable yet its still up for sale. It's a shame because for some reason I've never played it before and every time I try to download the XBLA version I get an error before it finishes.

From the 90's. well lets see: PC: 1. Planescape Torment 99' 2. Ultima Underworld 1 and 2 (1990 / 92' the games that inspired wolfenstien and doom, and had full real-time 3d before doom had fake 3d) 3. Ultima 7 - top tier crpg! 1992 4. Baldur's Gate (AD&D the best since the gold box days) 1998 5. Thief the dark project 98' Grandaddy of the stealth genre - and still no one does it better!! 6. Might and Magic 3-4-5 the Xeen series 1990-94 7. Might and Magic VI - 98? 8. Heroes of Might and Magic 3 - 98' 9. Civilization 2 - greatest real world TBS series 10. Fallout - who could leave this out? Notable mentions: Quake, Doom, Stunts 3d (so much fun building trick ramp tracks and having friends race them), Quake 3 Arena, Half-life, Unreal Tornament, Decent, X-wing vs. Tie fighter, Wing Commander series, I could go on and on..... Oh and great job of mentioning the pioneers of 3D accellartors... MY Voodoo 3 and Voodoo 5 5500 salutes you (man i was mad though when i bought the V5 and have them go out of business 3 months later...but i had the best Anti-Aliasing and Diablo and Unreal tornament graphics for at least another year.) SNES/ Genesis: 1. Final Fantasy IV (snes) 2. Final Fantasy VI (snes) 3. secret of mana (snes) 4. Link to the past (snes) 5. Road Rash (gene) 6. Mortal Kombat 3 (Gene) 7. Sonic 1 (Gene) 8. Aladin (gene) 9.Phantasy Star 2 (gene) 10. Shining Force (gene) PS1 Era- 1. Legend of Dragoon 2. Suikoden 2 3. Vandal Hearts 4. Vagrant Story 5. Final Fantasy 7 6. Legend of Legia 7. Final Fantasy Tactics 9. MGS1 10. Parasite Eve Notable mentions: Mega Man Legneds, Deathtrap Dungeon, Diablo1, FF5,FF6.FF8,FF9, Tactics Ogre, Alundra, Suikoden 1, Lunar, grandia, Xenogears, Crash bandicoot, Tomb raider1, Medieval, colony wars, Resident evil , silent hill, I can go on and on....... Wow... I see a trend.... in the 90's the PC and PS1 were the best systems in my eyes...also the ones with the most RPGS!!! hands down. and in the 2000's the PS2/PS3 and PC are the best systems again!! (NES and PC/Apple II ruled the 80's) I stopped gaming for a bit in 93/94 on consoles...it took the ps1 to bring me back into the fold. PC I never stopped. the 90s' rocked for gaming!!!! It's also easy to see why some people chose the systems the did this gen. Most N64 lovers weren't going to choose the playstation as n64 was a dead zone for RPGS .and nintendo basically is still that way (DS excluded).

super mario 64 and ocarina of time are a couple of my favorites. planescape: torment has its issues, but i really like how legitimate of an option dialogue is for progression. its something you dont see a lot of.

Zombies ate my Neighbors with my best friend on SNES, and couldn't get past that stupid giant baby.

And playing some pony game on the Sega Genesis, I think, at my other friends house. Haha, I remember that game so well, I just don't remember the point of it.

The 90's? I take that to mean the whole decade not just the latter half when 3D acceleration was starting to be in full swing.

Doom

Steel Panthers (1 and 2):

1942: Pacific Air War

Crusader: No Remorse

Curse of Monkey Island

Close Combat (2): A Bridge Too Far

GLQuake

Quake 2

Dungeon Keeper 2

World War II Fighters

Closed out the decade with Combat Flight Simulator 2

Not a bad list, but it was missing a LOT from the 90's, including the SNES games and stuff like all the Final Fantasy games and Resident Evil and MGS games.

I mostly skimmed it actually, but only 2 N64 games is very small. I think Star Fox 64 deserves a spot, same for The Legend of Zelda games that changed the world.

Anyways, I'd say my top favorite games from that era would be: Super Mario 64, Metal Gear Solid, Half-Life in that order as my top 3.

Super Metroid, Donkey Kong Country, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, Syphon Filter, Metal Gear Solid, Driver, Doom II: Hell On Earth, Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island, Super Mario RPG, Super Adventure Island 2... and so on. I'm not one of those "older games are better than new games" kind of person, but a lot of games from that period are far more memorable, and meaningful experiences than what are coming out these days. Which seem more like "products" than "video games."
