Your favorite horror games of all time

Tis the season of horror! Do you love horror games, SW? I used to be afraid to play games like Silent Hill and Resident Evil back in the day. But now I love them! With that said, here are my favorite horror games of all time:

• Silent Hill 2 OG & Remake: these games are master class in horror game design. They don’t rely on cheap tricks or jump scares, the horror is psychological and tense with great design and a very intriguing, mysterious story. Definitely a GOAT!
• Resident Evil Remake: this was the game that helped me get over my fear of horror games. The mansion setting is spooky and the close encounters make for great tense moments. The enemy design, boss fights, and combat are great. I also like the replayability.
• P.T.: Kojima’s first crack at horror, and it was terrifying lol Being stalked by a ghost while walking through a house several times is anxiety inducing lol. There were so many moments that were super creepy and disturbing. And though it was not technically a game, it deserves to be up there on the list.
• Resident Evil 4 Remake: it was between this or Resident Evil 2 Remake. I love both games, but if I had to choose one, I’d go with RE 4 because it felt like a more fleshed out game. I think that has to do with RE4 being more of an action adventure horror game as opposed to just survival horror.

Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem (GameCube)

Doom + Doom II (damn near everything)

Doom 2016 (Xbox One)

Resident Evil 4 Classic (Wii, Switch)

BloodRayne (PC, GCN) and BloodRayne 2 (PC, Xbox)

Team Silent and their SH games are my all time favorite horror games. My favorite of theirs and one of my fav games ever made is SH2. You can bet your ass I'm overjoyed with the remake being as great as it is.

Siren: Blood Curse (made by the team who made SH1) is also a favorite. That game was creepy as hell. I found it really challenging to finish lol.

The only other horror game I found enjoyable was Outlast. Not nearly as scary as the games above but it was still frightening getting chased around a psych ward with only a dieing flash light.

I wish there were more great horror games 🥲

Edit: Forgot to add - Friday the 13th on NES was terrifying when I was child lol

I've been playing Back 4 Blood lately which I find to be a lot of fun. Underrated game.

I'm not typically a big fan of horror games, but the original 2 Silent Hill games, RE 2, maybe Dino Crises, Clocktower, or old NES or SNES games? Not sure I have a favorite, but I have liked a few. PT was cool.. The Outlast Trials is awesome.

Comedy horror – Deadly Premonition

I love horror. My favorites are probably the original Resident Evil 1 and 2. I just really love the atmosphere. I love a lot of games though. Even some of the indie ones that imitate the old ps1 games.

Not really a horror fan I hate jumpscares but these are games that for some reason able to hold me really well.

• Bloodborne. Literally the best game depicting cosmic horror.
• Shadow Hearts 1 & Covenant. Idk it got its horror themes.
• Silent Hill 1,2 & 3. Loved them equally. Havent bought SH2 remake.
• Immense love for Original RE3, RE4 as well as the remake of RE2. I never played RE4 Remake.
• Parasite Eve and Dino Crisis 2 as well.
• Until Dawn PS4 ver. Best horror visual novel ever.
• Dead Space 1 original. Havent played the remake but people said its better than orginal so I got it in backlog.

Oh, doki doki literature club. That game was fun psychological thriller.

Probably OG RE2 or System Shock 2.

I heard concord was horrific,but I never got the chance to play it before it got pulled

Silent Hill 2 Remake is incredible. You should definitely check it out!

yeah bloodborne is incredibly underrated as a horror game. captures playing in a nightmare better than any game ive played

I think I'll finally play Dead Space for this halloween

I actually just installed RE4 Remake on a whim because I wanted a scary game for the holidays. Not sure if I was even going to play it lol (like I said, on a whim). It's really good?

Yup. But it’s more of an action game than anything else. Horror action lol.

Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly ( PS 2). Gives Ju On The Gruge/The Ring vibe.

Don't really play scary games, but I guess these kinda fit:

Alien Isolation, Dead Space, RE2, RE4, Eternal Darkness, Undying, FEAR, Doom 3, Inside.
