I'm planing on replaying MGS 1-4 pretty soon, which one do you guys think is the best?
Also, should i play PS1 MGS1 or GC MGS? Can't make my mind up.

you mean TTS? or the actual metal gear solid? I didnt liked TTS.
I loved MGS4 as far as plot goes, and gameplay was great too, but it was one hell of a short game...you can easily beat the game in 5:30 hours

I meant TTS, hence why I posted its boxart.
Same goes for MGS1 (TTS), even less.

MGS1 is not TTS though, MGS1 is much better, TTS is filled with a bunch of ridiculous gravity defying stunts that you generally see in crazy asian films such as crouched tiger hidden dragon and a lot of stuffs that just make you lol

In a franchise like MGS and considering all the weird s*** going on in those games, all that stuff doen´t feel out of place at all. :P

yup, I preffer not having my games filled with those ridiculous stuff...seriously I remember the hind d battle. liquid shows up and shoots a missile and snake jump backwards to safety in MGS1. but in TTS in that same scene when liquid fire the missile snakes jumps, land on the fricking missile (while its still in the air) rides it for a while then he makes a 2 meter jump on top of the missile and he makes a backflip in the middle of the air as he takes out his bazooca and shoots down the helicopter while making the backflip. snake is more of a ninja than gray fox in TTS[QUOTE="lightleggy"]

theres a difference: the people who perform those crazy stuff, like for example that crazy boss from MGS3 that was some sort of human spider or the one with a bunch of hornets, you know they are mutants of some sort, but when you see snake performing that ridiculous gravity defying stunt which im sure you wont even see at a charlie's angels movie you just feel as if it was a ridiculous game. theres a difference between having paranormal stuff in a game and having cheesy stunts in a game[QUOTE="Shirokishi_"][QUOTE="lightleggy"]

Like someone above said MGS is filled with nonsense, but it is a different kind of nonsense and this asian action movie/Matrix type of nonsense is totally out of place.

My problem with TTS is that its using the MGS2 engine but the game was not built for it, you aren't supposed to be able to aim from first-person type views in MGS1 like you can in TTS, and the game is not re-balanced for it, so you can enter a room, tranq everyone and move on, with 0 effort. Not saying the other ones are hard, but its completely 0 effort now.[QUOTE="Shirokishi_"][QUOTE="lightleggy"]

MGS1(PSX) - played this, MGS2 & 3 in 2011, and i gotta hand it to the first one. Absolutely beautiful soundtrack, great characters, amazing voice acting considering it's a english to japanese dub., fantastic bosses, masterpiece of a story, pretty damn fluid for a older game, and breath taking ending. One of the best games i've ever played, it left a mark on me, still listening to that soundtrack in my playlist.
I really enjoyed the one where you had to beat that boss by plugging your controller into the 2nd player port so he can stop reading your mind.
Well its a really tough choice...
Metal gear solid had the most enjoyable story and felt totally new and original
Metal gear solid 2 had really fun gameplay, i remember having so much fun aiming in first person mode and playing with the guards.. also the demo that came for it.. i replayed it like 100 times.. thought the story got ridiculous though..
Metal gear solid 3 had the most amazing ending,,, and its the one that had the bigger impact... the gameplay wasnt as fun as mgs 2, but it was alot more challenging and had a different feel to it.. You felt accomplished after passing it, and went well with the entire survival theme of the game. Also, it had some of the best boss battles..
Metal gear solid 4 felt like they removed all problems in the gameplay of previous games, and made them perfect... snake was very versatile, and didnt feel so much like a tank.. the gameplay was great and it had the best replayability of the bunch by far.. It also has a nice difficulty ballance and some great nostalgic moments.
I can't decide which one i like the most... but i am sure this is my favourite series of all time..
MGS3 was the best in the series. Best Boss Fights and Least Convoluted Story. I just wish the landscapes for each stages were bigger. I can imagine going up against the End in landscapes as big as those found in the farcry series. ;)
I think 3's boss fights were just as bad as 4's. The Cobra Unit had no personality and had little to do with the main plot, all they did was say their names over and over. At least Foxhound and even Dead Cell were interesting and contributed to the story. Compare Sniper Wolf's death to The Fear's and you'll get my point.MGS3 was the best in the series. Fear...FEAR!! *explodes*
I agree.
I haven't played MGS4 yet, but I'll go ahead and join the party by saying MGS3 is my favorite. The gameplay has a nice free-form feel to it, a nice level of detail and meat to it, and the story, fortunately, is significantly less obtrusive than the previous Metal Gear Solid games.
MGS3, kept the fun gameplay of other MGS games up to date, with a story that was at least bearable, unlike other MGS games.tagyhag
Im guessing by bearable you mean more simple. Since I agree out of all the MGS MGS3 story was the most simple and straight forward, but to me that doesint make it better. MGS1 is number 1 to me. MGS3 bosses besides the final boss was a big disapointment to me.
MGS1,MGS4, and 2&3 keep swithcing places for me.

Yea my feelings exacly. MGS1,2 and 4 bosses had backstory to them which made them more interesting imo. MGS3 bosses felt like they were just there to be there. Well besides the final boss.
This fits System Wars, how?
Mograine
Most of the topics in System Wars aren't between two systems anyways, SW just deals with gaming threads that span across all consoles as no one really goes to General Gaming Discussion.
MGS4 was the culmination of all that was great about the series for me, but I love them all almost equally.
It's a tie between MGS and MGS3 for me. It felt like Kojima tried too hard with the stories on MGS2 and MGS4.
SOedipus
MGS2's story was fine, but I can see why a lot people don't like it compared to say, MGS3's. It requires a bit of previous insight of the themes it presented.
MGS4 on the other hand, was fail. Nanomachines this, nanomachines that. Kojima needed an editor on that one. The gameplay was great though.
