Since 2010 has just ended and a new year has begun i thought a thread like this would be appropriate. Which year of this gaming generation has been the greatest to you?

2007. Portal, SMG, MW, MP3 and many others.

I started in 2008, 2009 was the best one, 2010 was really crappy, looking forward to 2011

07 > 10 > 09

2009 pretty easily, Killzone 2, inFamous, Batman AA, Uncharted 2.....scrumptious, that's why 2011 will be prime, its got the sequels to all those amazing games.

2006- first year where all three next gen consoles entered the battle.Some notable games include: Gears of War, Zelda TP, Oblivion,Wii Sports,Okami, Dead Rising, FF 12, R6 Vegas, Advanced Warfighter, New Super Mario Bros., GH 2, Resistance, MGS: Portable Ops, Fight Night 3, Kingdom Hearts 2, Company of Heroes, Bully, etc.

2007- Tons of great games with every genre being well represented (IMO one of the greatest years ever) - Crysis, Assasin's Creed, SMG, Portal, Halo 3, Uncharted, Metroid Prime 3,COD 4,Crackdown, Mass Effect, Forza 2, The Witcher, Zelda: Phantom Hourglass, Rockband,Ratchet and Clank TOD,God of War 2, Rockaband, GH 3, Bioshock, TF 2,World in Conflict, Supreme Commander, PGR 4, Warhawk, Skate, Zach and Wikki,DiRT,Pacman CE, Heavenly Sword, Motorstorm,Super Paper Mario, Eternal Sonata, WoW:Burning Crusadeand many manymore.

2008 -MGS4, GTA 4, Burnout Paradise, Gears 2, Left 4 Dead, Little Big Planet, Fallout 3,World of Goo, SSB Brawl, Mario Kart Wii,Persona 4, No More Heroes, Braid, GoW: Chains of Olympus, Dead Space, Sins of a Solar Empire, GRID, Geom Wars 2, FIFA 09, The World Ends With You, FableII, GRID, Patapon, Resistance 2, Proffesor Layton, COD WaW, SoulCalibur IV, Boom Blox, DMC 4, Motorstorm PR, Crysis Warhead, Battlefield Bad Company,Spore, WoW : WotLKetc.

2009 -An outstanding year for action/ adventure gamers (My personal favorite year). Great games included: Batman: Arkham Asylum, Infamous, Uncharted 2, Ass. Creed II, Forza 3, GTA :Chinatown Wars, DiRT 2, MP Trilogy,Borderlands, Street Fighter IV, Mario and Luigi : Bower's Inside Story, Demon's Souls, Dragon Age, Shadow Complex, The Beatles Rockband, Killzone 2, L4D 2, COD MW2, Tiger Woods 2010 Wii, Empire Total War,DJ Hero,Plants vs. Zombies, Flower, Punch Out, Blaze Blue, The Sims 3, Trials HD, Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2, Little King's Story, etc.

2010 - Shouldn't be too hard to remember - Heavy Rain, Vanquish, Bayonetta,SMG 2,God of War III, Black Ops, Halo Reach, Alan Wake, Starcraft II:Wings of Liberty, Mass Effect 2,WoW:Catacylysm,Super Meat Boy, PacmanCE DX, Limbo, Ass Creed Bro, Read Dead Redemption,Rockband 3, Kirby's Epic Yarn, DonkeyKong Country Returns,Battlefield Bad Company II,NBA 2K11, GT5,NFS: Hot Pusuit, Amnesia : DarkDescent, Monster Hunter Tri, Modnation Racers, Splinter Cell : Conviction, Mine Craft, Joe Dnager, NMH 2, Just Cause 2, Mafia II, etc.

2010. '06 was ok, '07 was pretty good, '08 and '09 sucked ass, but last year came through for me.

The gamespot GotY Demon's Souls & Persona 4 (for Europe & Australia/NZ etc) also. 2009 was a big year. I can't really decide on a favourite though.

2008: Metal Gear Solid 4, GTAIV, Fallout 3, LittleBigPlanet, Gears of War 2, Smash Bros Brawl, The world ends with you, No more Heroes, Left 4 Dead, Crysis Warhead, WoW: WrotlK etc :)

2010, Happy newyear ppl.

2009 was the greatest for me because I bought a DS and PS3 and entered the current gen. Had a lot of great games to catch up with, that I'm still trying to catch up with. I don't know if I'll start next-gen as late as I did this one, or I should just skip next gen and upgrade on the gen after the next one.

2009 was a good year for me.

2008 had MGS4 and GTA4, so 2008 for me...

If I go with the games I bought in each year rather than the actual year each game was released, I'd have to go with 2010

-Super Mario Galaxy 2 (easily the best game of the generation and very possibly the best game I have ever touched)

-inFAMOUS (after hating the demo I took a chance and bought the game... One of my favourite games this gen)

-Batman Arkham Asylum (it deservs its praise)

-Devil May Cry 4

-Donkey Kong Country returns (super challenging sidescrolling platformer? Heck YES!!!)

-Sin and Punishment Star Successor

-Tatsunoko vs Capcom

-Dragon Quest IX (this series continues to be strong unlike another Square Enix "RPG" series I know)

-Pokemon Heartgold (Gold was my favourite back in the day and this remake is really well made)

I have had a lot of fun with all of these games this year

Yeah. That year had an insane amount of awesome games. Games like COD4, Forza 2, MP 3, and Bioshock will never get too old.

I'd say either 2007 or 2010 so far.

2011 has a good chance of being my fave though.

Definitely 2009. Demon's Souls and Uncharted 2 really made it a great year for me.

2007 for me lots of great games - crysis, world in conflict, cod4, stalker, team fortress 2, portal, etc

2007 and or 2010 those 2 are the best the worst would be 05 and 08 , 09 was good enough, 2011-we will see but it cant be any worse then 08 ,

2010 is because of the majority of old franchises making thier return-007 goldeneye donkey kong kirby metroid in 2d form , etc

2010 for me. My favorite game of the gen came out and there were just plenty of other damn fantastic games as well.
