SPOILERS BENEATH - I'n not tagging them since spoilers are bound to be in a thread like this.

In no particular order:

  1. Arriving on the shores of Mexico in Red Dead Redemption, greeted by a horse and Jose Gonzalez's 'Far Away' as I make my away across the barren landscape to town.
  2. Dying at the hands of Gunther and a squadron of troops and mechs in Central Park, only to wake up in the cells of Majestic 12 in Deus Ex. After being released by a mysterious figure, I make my way out of the cells only to find myself in UNATCO headquarters. NO F***ING WAY, so THAT's what was behind that security door...
  3. Making my way through the Cathedral in Fallout. As I descend deeper and deeper, the walls and floor become more and more flesh covered. Then, at the bottom, I come face to face with The Master: a series of circuits, tubes, displays and a voice box connected to a mass of flesh and bone. After an eeire conversation with his many voices, you choose to be assimilated into the Super Mutant army, set off a nuke beneath the complex or just kill him.
  4. Finding out that you are in fact Revan in Knights of the Old Republic. I did not see it coming, but on a second playthrough you realise they drop multiple hints that you are Revan.
  5. Winning the FA Cup, the EPL and the Champions League with Arsenal in FM2010 after two seasons.
  6. "This...is The End". Hearing him breathe as I crawl around trying to take him out.
  7. Leaving the Pillar of Autumn escape pod and finding myself on the halo for the first time.
  8. Destroying my enemies and beating Alpha Centauri by conquest with the Human Hive.
  9. Being placed on a train heading to an unknown location, and then making my way through City 17 for the first time, meeting its inhabitants and then escaping from the patrols and meeting Alyx in Half Life 2.
  10. The tram ride at the beginning of Half Life.

Metal Gear Solid 2 - from Arsenal Gear to the ending. One of the most thought provoking segments in a game ever in my opinion.

Operation Flashpoint: Cold War Crisis - I was approaching an enemy town in a tank with comrades. Our tanks vs theirs. They won. I remember getting out of my tank in disbelief, calling out to any surviving members of my crew. There was no one. I was all alone, injured, in the middle of an enemy town. What I felt then was a sense of dispair, of emptiness. Then I realized I was playing a video game, and I was so immersed in the game that that moment changed my mood. Crazy.

Stalker series - all of the crazy adventures I went on in those games. I had many. One that stands out is one time I was approaching an enemy encampment. It was nothing I couldn't handle. Just 4 or 5 Duty members. I had a wimpy rifle, but it was again nothing to difficult. Well I approached, fired the first shot, and was overwhelmed by them. I jump from cover to cover because they'd force me out with their grenades. I ran and tried to approach them from a different angle. No dice. They were too much for me. I think I killed one or two. But they had good guns and lots of ammo and I didn't. I retreated. I could not win. As I depart, they radio me: "Don't bring a knife to a firefight, fool!"

Okay I'mma shut my eyes now and think what comes to mind...

Final Fantasy 8 the different calm and great atmospheric moments in the Garden. Fishermans Island, for example.
Final Fantasy 8 end of disc 1, with the great cutscene with that 10/10 music. (That sorceress parade).
Nier emil's scene and the endings! WAAAAAH!!!
Crisis Core, all the ending scenes. Most emotional scenes ever!
Final Fantasy X ending - also sad!
Etc... You know what, I could write a whole essay about this, time to lay off the nostalgia drug for now.

My most memorable? Way back in 1995.

Trying to shake off a Japanese Zero on my six o'clock in 1942: Pacific Air War. Microprose released a patch that made the AI pilots almost like human.

Not much altitude to outdive the Zero. So, I spent most of my time "jinking" around throwing off the Zero's aim just enough. It finally broke off when some "friendlies" happened by. I was actually sweating afterwards.

I haven't seen AI that good since.

That sounds... breathtaking! This reminds me of another post I saw a while ago, where someone was playing a WW2 plane simulator online. He was fighting a difficult enemy. He was low on fuel and low on ammo. They fought for about 15 minutes until both guys ran out of ammo. They then simply said good day to each other and went their separate ways.

Picking up the Master Sword for the first time... I will never forget it... :) With friends, betting on which dog would win the Majora's Mask dog races. Hiding under the covers while my brothers played Resident Evil. I had nightmares...

Yup. That encounter with the Zero in 1942: Pacific Air War brought home what real Allied pilots were briefed about the Zero which is never try to turn with it because the Zero will run rings around most Allied fighters. It's best to make slashing "zoom n boom" attacks:

Get the altitude advantage

Dive and make one firing pass

Zoom away and climb to replenish energy lost

Dive for another pass

Dogfights online are also much friendlier than say, your typical FPS online multiplayer although I haven't tried it in a while.

Brawl's character select screen for the first time. It was surreal finally being able to play the game I had been dying for for the last few years. In Twilight Princess entering Hyrule Field for the first time. Playing Gears of War for the first time. It was my first "next gen" game and it literally blew me away.

There are many. Some games were so memorable all the way through that I can't pinpoint one moment that stood out (OoT my first Zelda for example). My mouth just hung open the whole way through.

There are a few that come to mind immediately for some reason, while the games aren't necessarily great:
- The restaurant part in Indigo Prophecy, where you can see the cop walking slowly to the toilet about to find out about your crimez. Experiencing that what-should-i-do-?! feeling.
- Using the kitten in No One Lives Forever.
- The moment the wings of my airplane tore off with the sound of a fat fart in Red Baron 2.
- The person who flew an A-10 off of the aircraft carrier in Battlefield, managed to immediately turn it upside down without moving forward and exploding into the water next to the carrier.
- The protagonist in Shadows of the Damned reading the first fairytale. Caw! Caw!
- Blowing up that town Megaton in Fallout 3.
- The trial in Chrono Trigger.
- The bad ending in Karate Ka (C64).
- My first Objection with Phoenix Wright.
- Picking up the sword in Prince of Persia (original) and the mirror image.
- The snow level and its awesome music in Golden Eye (N64). First time I felt like actually treading through the snow in a game.
- The conclusion in Portal.
- The first day of World of Warcraft. All those people new to the genre, including me.
- Hearing the voice in Dungeon Keeper. Man that guy has a cool voice.

Especially the first one, easly one of the most memorable moments in my 25 years as a gamer:

-My first video game (the original Arcade Donkey Kong)

-My first 3D game (Super Mario 64)

-Finding out that video games can have a well constructed and meaningful story line (The Legend of Zelda The Wind Waker)

-Super Mario Galaxy 2 (completely blew me away the first time I played it because of how original and creative it was. I'm over it now, but nothing can replicate that initial feeling I had with it)

The funny thing is, I have absolutely no idea why. I remember absolutely everything, from beginning to end of that game, and yet it doesn't strike me as something that *should* be that memorable, or really even that well designed. Then again, here I am, remembering absolutely everything about the damn game, and loving the fact I dove in and bought the game.
