  1. Minecraft (PS3)
  2. Don't Starve (PS4)
  3. Outlast (PS4)
  4. Gone Home(PC/YOUTUBE) (I actually streamed the whole walkthrough and I enjoyed it. Beautiful story)
  5. Hotline Miami

I've probably played many indie titles, but I've recently focused my time and played those titles the most.

How about you guys ?

I'd say Cave Story is my favourite. Just excellent, really no flaws with it. Dust: An Elysian Tail is also really good too.

There is a distinct lack of Spelunky and Hotline Miami in this thread.

@Young_Charter:

1. TOME 4 - Tales of Maj'Eyal -- The greatest roguelike ever made... roguelike mixed with mmo cooldown abilities and passives with no pots and strategic combat with 30+ unlockable classes, and entire world with lore and realms. Sad thing is i am probably the only one on here to even hear of this gem of a game.

Loading Video...

2. Dungeon Siege Stone Soup.... another killer roguelike - amazing game.

3. Terraria - Mincraft with more detph on a 2d plane....

4. Rogue legacy - Can't wait to be able to play this on my vita everywhere i go!

Honorable Mentions:

Banished -- greatest "builder" game.

Project Zomboid

Prison Architect

Looking forward to Axium Verge and Starlight Drifter on vita.

Favorites, not most played.

Hotline Miami, Journey, Resogun, Dear Esther, Transistor

Difficult defining what "Indie" means anymore - if it only means mid-tier development, then I'd probably find a place for Child of Light

Hotline Miami is definitely up there as a favorite. Not only is it an amazing game, but the soundtrack is one of the only video game soundtracks that I actually listen to outside of playing the game.

Botanicula
Antichamber
Super Meat Boy
Braid
Brothers
The Swapper

are some other favorites

However, there are a too many independent games in too many different genres to lump them all into one category though.

For me, it's pretty much any studio producing games that are independent of any of the major publishers and their developmental myopia (i.e. Activision, EA, Microsoft, Rockstar, Sega, Sony, or Ubisoft).

Modded Minecraft

Don't Starve + (RoG)

Chivalry

Tribes Ascend

Loadout

Space Hulk

ARMA series / Day Z (In Dev.)

Tropico 4

Orcs Must Die 2

Worms series

Skulls of the Shogun

Hotline Miami

Next Car Game (In Dev.)

Mark of the Ninja

Prison Architect (In Dev.)

War for the Overworld (In Dev.)

Star Citizen (In Dev.)

Spelunky

Sir, You are being hunted (In Dev.)

I'd rather thin my backlog than play something coded by a hipster/neckbeard in his mom's basement.

So the answer is none.

Super Meat Boy was just glorious

Castle Crashers was one of the early and glorious indie games, Tom and Dave really knocked it out of the park.

Spelunky, play it daily. Because i still havent reached Hell yet

I can list a bunch, but I'll keep it simple. Recently?

FTL...although I haven't played it in over a year. They released The Advanced Edition (free DLC update) which I updated a few months back, but I haven't booted it up yet. I tried once and there was once again a steam error and just didn't feel like dealing with it.

@geniobastardo: Rayman? If Ubisoft is Indy, I would hate to see what you think a single man developer does.

Starbreeze isn't an indie studio.

We're talking about a team that did Escape from Butcher Bay, The Darkness, and Syndicate.

I liked Everyday Shooter and Journey and Flower are pretty good for people that have insomnia. I played another one that was kinda like Contra but with chickens too... Indies really aren't my cup of tea though. Although No Man's Sky is looking great, and that one indie that is ripping off Metroid too.

@geniobastardo: What would Indy refer to, if not the dev? "Indy" does not simply mean a smaller budget title or 2D. Rayman might have started with a six man team, but it ended up with hundreds working on it, a grant from the French government and was always helmed by Micheal Ancel, one of the biggest developers in that country.
