I've hear alot of people saying the series just keeps going down and they're not excited for XIII. I hear there's too damn many, and Squeenix should focus on something new. Although the opinion of XII seemed high almost all around, it didn't seem like it was enough to turn the majority around. Cows always go on about it as a big exclusive title, but fanboys don't really need to like it to use it as an argument. Is it just players being over-nostalgic about the oldies, or they're ps favourites?

I'm pretty excited for 13 (all versions). No gameplay footage yet, but I have high hopes. For me it's leading the charge in reasons for me to get a PS3, that is, if it ends up looking like fun. Do you still enjoy the series?

FF isnt really a series, the games have nothing to do with one another, and the only thing they have in common is theres alot of airships in them and always someone named cid.

No one knew FF until FF7, so I'd say the climax was in 1997... and FF9 was the downfall... and FFX and FF12 were alittle better

You're right. A FF game can be seen as ''RPG number x''

I knew FF before FFVII... and after playing VII, VIII, IX, X and X-2, I realised that the series climaxed in 1994.

Yeah, it's better just to call it a franchise then a series.

at yes they are easily 1 of the top 5 games of hte year when ever they are released.

I loved 1, 4, 6, 7, 9, & 12. The series died to me with 10 and 10-2 but 12 really brought it back for me.

FF is a great series, but they need to start making the new ones more like a game and less like a movie. Hopefully 13 will fix that.

People who say that they haven't been good since FFVII are just lying to themselves. Of course... I'm quite a FF fan, I've beaten every numbered game other than 11 and have even beaten Mystical Quest and X-2. I'll play any FF game they put out, they all intrest me greatly, I love the stories (XII has the best in my opinion), gameplay, characters, everything.

For me, the peak was FFVII(though i havent played 6 yet, but plan on getting the GBA adaption.) IMO, X, X-2, XI, and XII have all been medicore at best. Especially X, I completely disliked the game. Anyway, if they can get back to the way they were FFVII and before, I will be happy but as it stands im not all that interested in the FF "series"

I feel Square should stop making new FF games.  That is to say, there is a lot of good FF content out there that has been underused.  I feel spin offs of older games would be nice, instead of forcing out more over the top stories that become less charming each game.  I'd love a fully 3-d FF6 or a remade FF7, or a tactics game encompassing parts of the series.

You cant compare the 2d with 3d, they took different directions, and alot of the earlier FF games stories seem lame and overused now, even though it was original then. And I loved all the FF equally, I dont see why people hated FFX, it was good, alot better then 9.

Okay, to those saying it's not really a series, granted. Whoever used the word 'franchise', that's more like it.

I'm working on playing them all, I'm working on 5 and I love it. Lately I feel like they are getting a little too complicated. Squeenix appears to be going a bit off the deep-end, with the Sphere Grid, FFX2, an MMO, and then the Lisence system. Strange ideas, and some games have quite a bit to think about when equipping etc. Ofcourse the job system started all that, so I guess it just depends when you get into it.

And to them becoming movies...that's not a bad thing for everyone. Myself, I like the amount of cinematics. Yes they're very nice-looking, but they help to draw you in too. RPGs are really for people looking for a good deal of story anyways. When there's as much movie as gameplay *cough Xenosaga* then it can be a pain, but I'm glad they're there anyways. Imagine them on PS3 as well...FF cutscenes are usually good for showing system strength for graphics.

Both 12 and 10 are really good. The people saying X is bad are also saying 9 is good... the worst FF game ever made, next to X-2.

I would like FF to go handheld. PSP preferably. The PSP can do good cinematic, and after playing FF1 and 2 on the gba, I loved it.

After playing FF7 i got into the series. I bought some others (8,10,10-2,12) expecting them to give me as great of an experiecns as 7 but i was somewhat dissipointed (except 10 and 12 as decent). Im hoping that VS13 will be as good if not better then 7. If not i will not be buying any more FF games.

Stop making them =O are you guys insane, and talk about 12 not being good, the game is great, each final is unique. completly diferent story. they just keep the key elements together, and it´s exatly what you want in a rpg. Very few games reach the genius of Final Fantasy.

I love the series but it really kinda peaked around FF6 and FF7. FF 8 was good and FF9 was nice (in my opinion) but then FFX had to come along. And the pretty boy archetype was introduced and fangirls all over the world rejoiced and gamers like me groaned in agony.

FFX is personally a dark spot on the FF series in my opinion and FFX-2 didn't do anything to help redeem the FF name. FFXI shall not be mentioned and while FFXII does have the annoying girly-man, I hear it's much better then FFX and the story is much more refined then FFX so I'll try it out once I can afford it. Also, the whole real-time gameplay thing FFXII has going for it makes me want to at least rent it.

FFXIII looks very promising to me and if I could ever afford a PS3, it would be so I could play FFXIII.
