Hey peeps so hows Far Cry 2, I only want your opinion if you've played it! I think it looks really good like a different free-roam FPS. Looks interesting, I like how you can aproach missions with different tactics. Looks cool.

Its a good game, given you can manage through its easy to see faults. I was one of those exceptions. For most, the cons outweigh the pros.
The biggest thing that annoyed me was respawing base camps with mercs right after leaving from its view. Literally.
Yeh ive only paid £5 for it so I wont feel to bad if I dont like it. I almost bought it on launch but got Dead Space instead.
Sit down, this could take a while. To begin, the game is half-baked., and blatantly so. A prime example of this are the two warring factions. I can't remember their names at this point, but it makes little different. Faction A and Faction B regularly hire you to work for them. The actual missions they have you do will be delved into later. They often put you to work against one another, giving you money to blow up the other's stash or kill their men. Does this not SCREAM for a faction loyalty mechanic? Guess what, it's not there. You can literally tell that Ubi wanted to make one, and the devs just started to implement it...then the game was released. As for the missions, they're proof that Ubi didn't spend alot of time on AI. When you take a faction mission, each time the boss tell you "Oh, by the way, this mission is top secret so not even my men know of it and will shoot you." This is just a Deus Ex Machina for, as Yahtzee so deliciously put it, "Coding friendly AI is hard, so we're not even going to bother". There is not a single friendly AI to be found. Now, you could argue about the mercs that you can befriend, but the ONLY time these useless wastes of data and polygons come into play is when they appear in a scripted cutscene of sorts where they save your downed ass and promptly vanish. No AI at work there in any sense. Now, let's move on to the malaria mechanic. You get this crap right off the bat, and have to take pills for it at regular intervals. Oh, and you can run out of said pills and have to do lame side-quests for a priest to get more. Do I have to explain why that is bad? And the respawns...god the respawns. It sure is nice to go Sam Fisher on an enemy outpost, taking each guard down silently without alerting anyone, and moving through...only to get gunned down by the SAME guards you just killed because their respawn time is about one minute (literally). Also, who likes ALWAYS having to stop driving your jeep and getting out to fight? If you do, then Far Cry 2 is the game for you as it's the ONLY way to get jeep persuers off your tail. And your jeep invariably takes damage when these lame chases occur, so be ready for lots of tedious repairs. Why though? Whats bad about it?

The respawning enemies sounds bad, I hope you guys are exagerating!
It got good reviews so it cant be too bad..... can it?
Good decision. Dead Space = GREAT! Far Cry 2 = Abhorrent junk that disgraces the original game and Crytek. For 5 quid though, it is actually a pretty good game. You will get 5 quid out of it from the online alone. If you had paid $70 though, it would be highly regrettable (I certainly did).Yeh ive only paid £5 for it so I wont feel to bad if I dont like it. It's far from the best game of all time, though it gets way too much hate.

Well I dont know about that. Verge hit the nail on the head pretty well. Its simply being able to stand those problems or cuss them out and hide the game in the cabinet. I manage throughs odds and evens and can play through it without much complaining. Still, those damn pills. I forgot about that and thats one of the reasons Ive taken a long, long break from the game.
It can my friend, it can. Like I said, I got hyped for it, told my friends about it, played a couple hours and enjoyed it.. then I had serious Assassin's Creed syndrome and buyer's remorse. It's just repetitive, the respawning magnet guards are unbelievably annoying and immersion breaking, the level design is absolute garbage. The lighting in the jungle looks cool, I guess hang-gliding through the jungle might be worth 5 quid, but I will be shocked if you get through the game. Read Verge's post, it's dead-on.The respawning enemies sounds bad, I hope you guys are exagerating!

Rushed... All it is.
Repetetive to kingdom come, pointless malaria mechanic, healing animations just for show etc.
If it got 6 months of dev time it would be the greatest game this gen...
I actually really enjoyed it, its a lot of fun and the different ways to approach missions varies things up a little bit.
The respawning enemies are a con sure, but its not that big of an issue, because usually you're not going to go back right away anyways.
I just didn't like having to drive across a huge map between missions. Other than that though, I really enjoyed it!
When you say dead=dead you mean that those guys in the checkpoints actually stay dead? Or was this some sort of ironic post? :DI want to go back and replay it ironman style, realistic difficulty, dead=dead. Apparently, it makes the game a lot better.

I enjoyed it but there are definitely very serious flaws in the game that may dissuade a purchase. Not to pimp my own stuff, but I wrote an extensive review here.
I thnk it could be a good game to pop in now and then when you feel like doing some shooting missions and just messing around on. I even bought the DLC already becasue it was on offer for 2.79and i got the game so cheap! I think that adds an ATV, Crossbow, silenced shotgun and antique shotgun and 4 multiplayer maps.
Far Cry 2 is an absolutely terrible, bloated abomination of a game, packed from end to end with some of the worst design decisions I have ever had the gross misfortune of being subjected to. Each and every one of the game's few positive aspects were buried under layer upon layer of misery, boredom, repetition, and needless frustration.
I hate it, and I hate Ubisoft for having created it.
Yet, people continue to hype Ubisoft games. After the garbage that was Double Agent, after the empty shell of a game that was Assassin's Creed, after the steaming, sun-baked piece of **** that was Far Cry 2, and look kids, what's that coming over the horizon, oh yes, Splinter Cell: Conviction, a game so stupid, so inherently idiotic and mindless that it plasters basic info all over the game environment, that it kills people for you automatically, that it shows you a little fake man so you never have to worry, or feel tense, or have any fun, that it fills the screen with an ugly and distracting black and white effect because light meters aren't cool any more, the list goes on and on with this trash.
When will you learn? I say "you" because I learned with Far Cry 2, and I haven't bought a Ubisoft game since.

Hey Assassins creed 2 was good :PI thought the game was amazing. One of the best games I played in 2008 (I thinkthat'swhen it came out. I forget) it's just all around a great game, the stealth works very well, the AI is amazing and the roaming is fun. I have he played the game for probably 60 hours and half of that timewasn'teven doing missions. It's so fun just to get a sniper, mortar, andUziand sneaking up on enemy bases and killing everyone.
I think the only reason why people hate this game so much and find it such a disappointment is because, around these boards its very popular to fall for the hype the developer creates and people just keep hyping it up and up expecting it to be the game of the universe. I usually try not to hype games at all. I find this works best because then you get a more satisfying experience at the end when you didn't expect the game to be perfect.
I liked it better than Crysis. It was about time someone made a game in Africa and using fire strategically was a lot of fun. I'm guessing a lot of people didn't like it because you couldn't just shoot your way through all the missions.
It's a good game to get at 20 or 30 bucks. I didn't buy it new because I knew it wouldn't be that different from a typical shooter. Still a lot of fun and the driving isn't a big deal once you get used to it.
Or because the world design was repetetive? Because the whole "malaria" thing was flat out annoying? Or because no AK47 should ever jam and break after 2 shots? :|I liked it better than Crysis. Nah, there couldn't have been any legitimate reasons people didn't like it.

Taste is of course subjective but there were a lot of complaints about the difficulty when it came out. I thought it was actually quite funny that you could get a malaria attack at anytime, even when you were a few shots away from finishing a mission. The weapons certainly degrade too quickly. Once you can store a few guns at the safe house it becomes easier to deal with.
Terrible. Clunky controls, drab enviornments, crappy multiplayer, crappy weapons, crappy vehicles, crap, crap, everything is just crappy.
What's really disturbing is I actually bought the game for $30 at BestBuy. As I got home I NEVER OPENED it. A usual ritual I do when I buy new games. Then, I look into various gaming sites, including Gamespot, in order to read many of the reviews from players who've personally played the game. I Use them as guides.
And the next day, I returned the game for a complete refund.
Yeah......that's how bad the game is. Despite myself not ever playing it.

That's actually a pretty smart way to do it.
