Your personal game of the year

What would you pick to be your game of the year?

Mine would probably have to be Metroid Prime 3 or Mario Galaxy. Mario Galaxy has more replayability and is more innovative but Metroid Prime 3 drew me into it and had me playing for hours and hours on end until I beat it. So I guess it would be Metroid Prime 3 overall.

I was going to say Halo 3, but really I don't have one yet. After beating Halo 3 I really haven't played it since. I still haven't got Mass Effect yet, which is what I really want, it looks like a real nice game.

I've been playing Virtua Fighter 5 Online a lot, but I a fighting game as GOTY doesn't make much sense.

I would say Rainbow Six Vegas but it came out last year. :(

Definitely GOW2, the game was fantastic and entertaining throughout the 12 hours of play. I thoroughly enjoyed the game and couldn't let go of the controller as the game was so addictive. The graphics, gameplay, sound and story was top noch and the game was well presented and definitely a showcase for PS2 and proof that PS2 can still keep up with new consoles.

GOW2 was my game of the year and made me anxiously excited for GOW3. Roll on 09 :D

I'm so glad GS had the common sense to nominate GOw2, it is one of the years best Action games. My personal GOTY.

well im still playing mass effect. i was suspecting to be a bit underwhelmd by the game after jade empire.....but this is far far better. u can really tell that Bioware were passionate about this game. definately a contender in my book. if the character development improves then it may very well take it in my book. at the mo the characters feel a bit....2D though in terms of personality and character imho.

at the mo though i would be giving the title to mario galaxy. this is not ure standard issue platforming business.....its completly nuts. a real step foreward over mario 64 imho. the master still has many lessons to teach. let us hope the students are listening.

underdog of the year: definately the witcher. everything was going against this game (no big IP, unknown developer and so on) but the devs mostly pulled it off. its a game that has had alot of love put into it and it shows across the board. the new 1.2 patch has also greatly improved the technical side (loading and saving is much much faster). the only thing that lets it down a bit is a dodgy translation in places (which is pretty important in an RPG it has to eb said). i was following it for years, hoping it woudl do the business and it pretty much has. i wish the devs great success in their future titles.

Coz Blue Dragon sucks and Uncharted doesn't? Just my opinion obviously but if BD is the best you've palyed this year i'm inclined to think you either have played no games or die hard old-school RPG fan. That game was mediocre at best to todays standards.
