I'm enjoying the game quite a bit. The multiplayer is a blast, even online (though I do encounter lag pretty often). I do wish there were true single player campaigns for the characters, but that may be asking too much. Is it best in series? I have a soft spot for melee. What can I say, I'm more hardcore. But this is a close second.

What are your thoughts, SW? Like it? Hate it? Is it the best one?

Bonus question - who is your favorite character? Me liking Zero Suit Samus.

Don't have a wiiu yet. Would love to hear opinions from people who played it. I'm curious if it's more similar to Melee or Brawl

Funny enough is I just made a thread in the Nintendo forum saying how there are too many recycled stages.

Aside from that, I am impressed with it.

My one complaint, no Subspace Emissary. I very much enjoyed that mode in Brawl.

My only complaint is the stages. I'm not really a fan of all the moving ones, or the ones that are incredibly large, or the ones with hazards. I like having the option, but there aren't enough stages that are just static but varied.

Custom stages work nice for this though, so not all is lost.

4's my favorite. Beats Brawl mechanically and Melee in a quality of life level. However Melee has the best stages.

I've been using Captain Falcon for nearly twenty years now.

Melee's fighting engine is still better overall. Also the event mode was actually dope in Melee. But WiiU smash is quite good, significantly better than Brawl, which sucks, in every capacity.

Nah. Big disappointment. Brawl was better. More fun and better appealing movesets.

Fundamentally the best in the series, but the lack of a single player mode is a big deal to me. Online works perfectly, which is a huge plus.

My main is Marth.

Didnt charizard just make this thread like a week ago, where I believe you actually participated by saying you liked Melee best?

It's plenty of fun, but as a friendless dork I find it's single player offerings very lacking compared to Brawl which is a big disappointment. Subspace Emissary was totally awesome and I wish it had made a return, instead of shit tier modes like master hand tickets and whatever that mario party mode is.

Online is good but I don't like that there is no competitive mode with custom moves. As a Sonic loving guy, I find his default moveset really redundant.

We had this thread, like, what, a week ago?

But yeah Smash 4 is my favorite. Melee still has the mechanical superiority, but Smash 4 is no slouch in that department either, and it is staggeringly huge, and the character selection is impeccable. Plus 8 Man Smash is the culmination of gaming. My only issue is the stages, which suck on the Wii U game (though Smash 3DS is so great in that regard).

I guess my answer to this question changes on what you mean by Smash 4: If you mean Smash 3DS orSmash Wii U versus Melee? Melee wins, no questions (though 8 Man Smash exists...). Smash 3DS andSmash Wii U versus Melee? I'll take Smash 4.

To answer your question, it is an evolution of Brawl. It is basically Brawl done right, which is great, but which leads it to not having the mechanical nuance of Melee, of course.

Best one.

If it had Melee's mechanics it would've been perfect.

Don't have Wii U, but from what I've played in the 3DS version, SSB4 is great. SP contents suck, yeah, but really, I think I'm having more fun playing it than Brawl. In Brawl, most of my 300 hour game time was either 1) playing with friends or 2) my friends crashing my place and playing it while I do something else.

Not sure why though. It does feel a bit faster than Brawl, maybe that's why.

Super Smash Bros Wii U has some of the weakest single player content in the series. Weaker than 64, Melee, brawl, and the 3DS version. It ranged from lame to utter bullshit at times, and they completely screwed up Classic mode with 8 player smash. Also had the worst exclusive mode between both the Smash 4 games.

Multiplayer is fine, it's better than Brawl's but still inferior to Melee's (worse mechanics compared to Melee, as well as worse stages). Also feel compelled to add that I still think their handling of the omega stages was really, really dumb. Did we really need 20-30 final destinations? It's like Sakurai came across the "NO ITEMS, FOX ONLY, FINAL DESTINATION" meme and thought it was serious.

So no, I wouldn't say Smash 4 Wii U (or 3DS for that matter) are the best Smash games when looking at either multiplayer or single player content.

It's the best in the series simply because of the insane new 8-player multiplayer, unique and creative new characters and an online that actually works well.
Downsides are no Subspace Emissary equivalent (yes, I actually likes Brawls story mode) and too many annoying stages that make for unfair disadvantages.

The SP is so bare bones (due to developing 3DS version at the same time) it will never be the best in the series to me.

Well I did say varied. :P Guess I could have specified that I meant more varied than just a reskin of Final Destination.

Weird, that's the only way I play it online. It's set to 2 stock which is a solid amount for how long it can take to KO someone.

On topic: Overall this is the best in the series. It sets an excellent middle ground between the competitive smashers and the party smashers. It's a lot faster than Brawl with mechanics that promote competitive play far more. On the flip side it isn't as fast paced or mechanically advanced as Melee so newcomers can hold their own in a free for all item match setting. I've played the game both ways to maximum enjoyment. That range of enjoyment makes it one of the best multiplayers to have in your collection.

I'd take the opposite plane and say that Brawl is actually better than 4 in every way but online play. I'd but it over the first Smash though. I'm talking about both versions of 4 btw.

I really like Melee and this one for different reasons so those two are even for me. I also liked Brawl, only slightly less than Melee.

I really like Zero Suit Samus also. Others I intend to use the most are Shulk, Ike, Mario, and Robin.

Surprisingly to me though, I don't like using Mega Man that much. I was looking forward to him the most since being announced but I don't like how he plays much.

I agree with this 100%. Melee had the best stages. I mean fighting on top giant Goomba was magic. But that was about it for Me and Melee as I didn't like the fighting hardly at all. Brawl was a decent Smash but the WiiU version plays the best but I still really enjoy 64
