10. Quest 64
![](http://n64media.ign.com/media/previews/image/questus6.jpg)
Ok, this game didn't score well or was particularly popular but it was one of the first RPGs on N64. The N64/ PS era was a huge turning point in gaming history and Quest 64 helped pioneer the 3D RPG genre. The Story was generic and the graphics were mediocre but it had one of the funnest battle systems I have ever played, thus ranking it #10 on my list.
9. Mario64DS
![](http://dsmedia.ign.com/ds/image/article/561/561385/super-mario-64-ds-20041028012251723.jpg)
Mario64 broke down too many barriers to count when it was released. Like Mario64, Mario64 launched with it's system. This game is in my top 10 list because it took everything the 64 version did and improve on it, as well as adding some pretty nifty features such as local multiplayer, additional quests, mini games and other unockables (including a playable Yoshi). This game brought me countless hours of joy, ranking it at #9 in my list.
8. River City Ransom EX
![](http://pocketmedia.ign.com/pocket/image/rivercityransom_033004_000.jpg)
River City Ransom was THE game to have on NES. If you had this game for your Nintendo, you were the cool kid. Much like Mario64DS, River City Ransom EX takes what the original did and made it better. The GBA remake includes alternate/ extra stories, a ton of weapons and upgrades. This brawler/ RPG is one of a kind and a true gem for both NES and GBA. River City Ransom EX "BARF!"s it's way up to #8.
7. Poke'mon Blue

When Poke'mon stormed it's way to the U.S. it was a national phenomenon. Schools had banned any Poke'mon related products (including lunch boxes) and thousands of dollars were confiscated from students all across the country. Did the kids learn anything? Hell No! I remember seeing a beautiful tapestry of GB trade cables connecting avid collectors in my elementary school lunch room. Behold the sight, it was a step away from utopia. As much as you might hate Poke'mon, you have to admit that you, at one point, had to catch them all. It had a great story, great gameplay strategy and it also had a dupe glitch that reset your game, go figure. Poke'mon Blue bricks it's way to #7.
6. Mario Kart 64
![](http://www.gaming-age.com/reviews/archive/old_reviews/n64/mariokart64/1.jpg)
Granted, MarioKart DS makes this game eat it's dust 10x over but that's not the point. The point is this game provided one of the greatest 3D racing experiences in it's era. Peer only to Gran Turismo and Episode I Racer, MarioKart let up to 4 players duke it out in head-2-head, Gran Prix or Battle mode. The only thing I regret about this game was spending countless hours trying to unlock Magikoopa instead of playing the damn game. Oh well, MarioKart 64 skids it's way up to #6.
5. Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2
![](http://www.gaming-age.com/reviews/n64/thps2/3.jpg)
THPS was a playground favorite, inspiring many scrubby kids to pick up a skateboard. It's sequel, THPS2 made the Tony Hawk Series obsolete. It introduced destructable environments, secrets and tons of unlockables to the series. If you weren't tempted to cheat, this game could be extremely challenging. Unlike the following games in the series, THPS2 had no balance meter to speak of making huge combos a total challenge. Though the game had tremendous gameplay, the only thing that left a sour taste in my mouth was the glamourization of money in the skateboard world. Since this game was more than just incredible, I'll let that one slide just this once. Oh, yeah, and before I forget, this game has SPIDERMAN as an unlockable skater (need I say more?) ! THPS2 grinds it's way up to #5.
4. Megaman Legends
![](http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y32/Boba_Fett_3710/Megaman.jpg)
This game was sadly ahead of it's time. A non-traditional shooter RPG featuring everybody's favorite super fighting robot. Megaman Legends had superiour voice acting for it's time (when compared to Resident Evil, also made by Capcom), tight gameplay mechanics and a captivating story. The cutscenes made you feel close to the characters and the customization was a nice addition to the series. Considering a game like this was rare in it's time, I'm truly surprized it isn't among the Playstation elite...Oh well, this game is definately elite in my mind bringing Megaman Legends to #4 on my list.
3. The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask
![](http://content.ytmnd.com/content/c/e/9/ce98fadec40a227b2a9aec16292e8f68.gif)
Oh Snap, the top 3! Majora's Mask was horribly underrated, being constantly compared to it's predecessor, Ocarina of Time. Instead of focusing on a large world full of enemies and secrets, MM focused on the story's characters. You had 3 days until the end of the world. 3 days to solve a plethora of problems, gain a library of masks and to defeat the corrupt Skull Kid. It's a good thing you can go back in time. I think it's the concept that purist refuse to adapt to. It's their loss as Majora's Mask is ranked my #1 zelda game but #3 on my list.
2. Killer7
![](http://nintenblog.free.fr/images/ngc/killer7_20050715.jpg)
To many, Killer7 is a game that breaks all boundaries. It's controls are unconventional, as is it's visual and story-telling styyle. A deeper look into this poorly under-rated sleeper hit shows that the game's story is deeper than anything we have seen this side of Metal Gear. The political storyline keeps gamers guessing well enveloped int a world of explicit violence and all-around badassery. The characters are as unforgetable as the story is complex. Killer7 smiles it's way up to #2.
1. Thrasher Skate and Destroy
![](http://psxmedia.ign.com/media/previews/image/thras7.jpg)
This is it, my #1 game of all time, Thrasher Skate and Destroy. Thrasher is the polar opposite of THPS2. Instead of crazy combos, Thrasher is realistic and tight. Instead of promoting the glitz and money of pro skateboarding, Thrasher promotes the grit, blood, sweat and tears involved in skating. Sure you could read my review of the game, but it's so much easier to tell you that this game is about real skating and not product placement. Great game, great controls and it was one of the first games to use ragdoll physics. Thrasher my #1 favorite game of all time.
So there you have it. This post took forever so I hope you enjoyed it. Feel free to post your favorites, I really would like to hear what games other people put in their top 10.
