It's good that Falcom is in the direction of evolving the Ys VIII combat system, which has been well received by many.
The first Ys I played was Ys Eternal, which is a remake of Ys I and II. I liked its simple but very responsive and satisfying gameplay. The opening animation made by young Makoto Shinkai (Your Name) is very impressive as well.
Then, retrospectively, I played games on NES, SNES, and TurboGrafx/PC Engine in the past, and was impressed by the deep history of the series. Even if the gameplay and graphics are out of date, the music of Yuzo Koshiro (Street of Rage) alone is worth listening to.
It's a niche series, but it has more than 30 years of history alongside FF and DQ, so if Smash uses the tagline to celebrate the history of video games, I think Adol (another sword fighter!) should take part in it.
