Zelda BoTW's attention to detail is unmatched!!!! Detail King!

Things most people won't even realize they can do/can happen. Keep in mind this shit is still being discovered as people play through the game:

- If you drop food in a cold mountain, it turns into icy food that can later be used to lower body temperature in blazing hot areas.

- If you want frozen meat in a non cold area, hunt with ice arrows.

- If you remove Link's clothes, he will check his biceps in his idle animation

- If you attach enough Octo "balloons" to a raft, it starts floating. If you have a Korok leaf, you can blow wind to the sail and propel the raft through the air.

- Rain can be used for stealth as your usual movement noise is less noticeable.

- If you try to jump off a cliff while an NPC is nearby, he will try and talk you out of it.

- If you have a RUSTY weapon, throw it at an Octorock as he inhales, he will spit it out brand new

- You can actually shoot items off of Hinox's necklace and skip a long hard battle altogether.

- Feed a horse carrots and he gets extra speed thrusts.

- If you leave your horse unattended somewhere for too long, it can die.

- You can use a string of metal weapons to channel electricity and bypass specific electric puzzle key items.

- If you always wanted to float on a tree trunk, you can

- If you wake up people in their houses with no shirt, they'll call you a creep!

- You can sail a raft with a metal weapon and thrusting magnesis against the raft's sail pole

- There are double rainbows in this game

- If you cook durring the light of a Bloodmoon you have a higher chance of making High Quality food

- Reading refills your runes' cooldown and stamina instantly

- Blowing a Korok leaf near a flame will set it on fire. If on fire, Link will lift it as a torch.

- Torches keep you warm in cold areas

- Weather affects what NPC's are doing and when certain NPC quests can be triggered

- Goddess statues assign health and stamina upgrades. There is a hidden devil one that lets you reassign...

Those are awesome. This game just keeps on giving.

It's like when Kojima was in-between jobs he paid Nintendo a visit.

Dwarf Fortress destroys it in attention to detail. As does Liberal Crime Squad.

But it is nice to see an AAA game with this much attention to detail. Metal Gear Solid does a phenomenal job as well.

I was walking through a dense forested area and in awe of the breathe taking scenery.. and I notice a hazy fog dancing on the top of the grass.. Wow! That's some attention to detail right there..

..then I walked closer and noticed.. no matter what direction I was facing.. the foggy haze was facing the same direction.. 2D assets..

Another one is that if you're carrying a metal weapon such as a Sword, and you're in a thunderstorm, lighting will be attracted to it, and will likely 1-shot you. But if you carry a wooden weapon like a club, you don't need to worry.

Still doesn't match the attention to detail of Realms of Arkania - Blade of Destiny from 25 years ago. When you removed your clothes because you were trying to be smart since they had no armor rating and only weighed you down people whould chase you out of their village with sticks and stones for being a pervert. You people should really play some more games so you don't get so surprised by simple things.

That one example you gave me didnt really convince. Especially since BoTW NPCs also aknowledge Link's lack of clothing.

Nethernovas post didn't exactly do his point any favors, but I think the takeaway here is this. Saying BotW is "detail king" and calling it a day just doesn't work.

The attention to detail poured into this game seems staggering at times, the interactive elements on display here are absolutely impressive. But it's not unparalleled by any means. Rare for a AAA effort? Sure.

MGS2 and 3 have better detail...

Can you elaborate? I know the melting ice cubes where awesome back then, and advancing the clock to kill the old sniper was smart, but please list examples

MGS3? Yeah, probably. The amount of absolutely absurd shit they hid in that game was ridiculous. I remember just going through my items in the Volgin fight only to find out there are dozens of ways to change that fight depending on what you have on your person. Happen to have a tree frog on you? Toss it out and watch Volgin squeal like a bitch. Put Raikovs mask on? Watch Volgin get weak in the knees lol.

I'm not even gonna get into the shit you can do in MGS3, it's absurd really. Dozens of playthroughs in and I was still finding new stuff to do. I remember finding a way to turn myself into a deadly swarm of hornets, I'm not even sure if that was intended.

MGS2? Mmm, I dunno. It's up there, yeah, but BotW probably has the upper hand tbh.

Having not completed BotW, I don't want to make any claims either way. But I was still finding out crazy shit almost 300 hours into MGSV. It's amazing how similar these two games are, even if I think BotW will be the better game all around.

Does this game have an achievement system? Also, does this game have villages or towns to visit? Always enjoy finding large cities and villages to explore and meet other people...

No chievos as far as I know. Towns? Yes. Some damn cool ones too.

It's a shame its astonishing attention to detail wasn't matched with the graphics which still look like a really shit launch PS3 title.

Alternatively, if only Nintendo could have gotten a clue they would have made a console that isn't almost two gens out of date. Yeah I really wonder how much it would have costed them to release something more powerful. The Wii was gen out of date, the Wii U a gen and a half and the Switch is 2 gens out of date in terms of horsepower. That really sucks because BOTW would have benefited greatly from that extra performance.
