Fair..........professional and critical.

I have to agree with this review. This Zelda game is sort of.......dull. This really wasn't what I was expecting at all.

I also don't see the point in exploring if there really is no benefit to it. Hours spent exploring and all you get are crafting items and the same Moblin squad battles. That sort of seems like that's it so far. Overall, this world just feels large and empty.

Zelda: Breath of the Wild - Gadgets 360 Review

Link’s latest adventure isn’t without its wrinkles thanks to unnecessary padding, an annoying durability system, and odd difficulty. In the face of the likes of Horizon Zero Dawn, The Witcher 3, and even Final Fantasy XV, it comes off a bit short. You could do far worse than The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, but, despite all the hype, it's not the console defining game you may have hoped for. It will be interesting to see how soon before Nintendo releases a game that realises the Switch’s true potential.

Highlights

  • The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild suffers from excess padding
  • Weapon durability is an unnecessary addition
  • Games like The Witcher 3 and Horizon Zero Dawn do open-worlds better

Pros:

  • Welcome attempt at story
  • Great visuals
  • Freedom in traversal and how to approach its quests

Cons:

  • Weapon durability is a joke
  • Unnecessary padding
  • Inconsistent difficulty in combat

Rating............7/10. Thumbs up for this truthful review.

Kind of remind me of polygon TLOU score a bucket of water in a ocean.

Zelda is a fantastic game people should stop trying to downplay it.

Lol if they bitch about weapon durability it means they haven't grasped a fundamental structure of the game's design which makes their review worthless.

This review is accurate, BOTW is a 7-8/10 game.

I saw this. It's worth having diverse opinions but at the same time, it's not the strongest or most knowledgeable of opinions.

Except you lose health doing so. That's where the franchise’s age old health system rears its ugly head.

Like prior entries, in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild too you start off with three hearts — the game’s indicator of your health. Completing each of the four dungeons grants you a heart. Similarly, being victorious at a shrine trial grants you a spirit orb. Four of these let you increase your health by a single heart. To obtain the Master Sword you need at least 13 hearts. So if you plan to beat Calamity Gannon with this mythical weapon, you have your work cut out for you. This is optional and killing Gannon is possible without it, provided you have enough weapons at your disposal, but you’ll want the sword considering that it deals a massive amount of damage to bosses, Gannon included.

That first sentence would imply that he has a criticism against how the health system works, but in no way explains what the problem is with the health system, and why it is a problem. Something basic in a critique, so I checked out right there. I can accept that some people don't like the weapon durability, I don't agree, I think they are missing a finer point in how it has you using more weapons, how it doesn't trivialize the weapons into a series of just cycling the bigger number weapons without a care in the world, and having a resource system keeps the player honest. Plus mid-late game you start getting a string of weapons that hardly ever break, and the larger issue to the game is that the game is made more frustrating on the player (in terms of gear) if they aren't moving along to Dungeons.

So crazy people who go "I spent 25 hours before I entered a Dungeon"...well there you, that's why your weapons suck. The games scaling is tied to its dungeons, which I would agree might be a silly design decision. Either way shit read, as expected by a video game review. For the record, I would have said the same thing about the 10 out of 10s. In fact they were shit reads.

But all three of those cons are bullshit. How is it a fair review when it doesn't even seem that he played the game to begin with?

51 10's on MC and no score under 90 from 78 reviews. I guess every single one of this reviewers is biased, unfair and lacks professionalism.

GTFO, fanboys have their panties in a twist because the best game of the generation isn't on their console of preference.

We all have great games to play. Don't hate because the best one in many people's opinion is on Nintendo consoles.

You know you fucked up criticizing a Nintendo game when even tormentoes is defending it.

This is why I don't like game reviews. Whether they are positive, negative or whatever.

It puts people without the credentials into a position of authority over a medium they don't understand. Some knowledge of game design should be a requirement, really. :/

You can literally taste the salt in the review. No way does witcher 3 do the open world better, maybe storywise, but openness, the way you approach quests, the sheer freedom of movement and sandbox like interactivity, the combat etc are not even close to botw. Haven't played HZD yet

Nah, if anything it's one of those lazy "but the metascore is this number, so this is automatically wrong because of the score" nonsense.

Thank the gods that one reviewer is finally stepping up to speak the truth about the new Zelda game.

Should we email Metacritic about removing the 98 score, and replacing all of the nostalgia-blinded perfect scores with this totally-not-clickbait 7/10 review?

The only reason Zelda is scoring so high is because reviewers want to go back to being children again.

Nice to see real reviews for the game.

I love Final Fantasy XV, I don't dislike it as much as other people, but comparing it to BOTW? It's not even in the same league. Awful, Awful review. It's one of those that's either just really bad, or hoping to get some angry fans clicking for website hits.

"I agree with this one review, so i'll start a thread about it... Even though the overwhelming opion goes against mine."Okay, so why do we give a shit?

The only issue I have with this game, this the horrendous fps in spots, and for it to make me overlook that to a pretty large extent... Well, that's something.
