What do you guys think of Gamespot's new moral code? Gamespot used to be as prudish as the pope. Which is still common within the American society, as there is a large taboo on sexuality. I remember being moderated for mentioning the word porn. But all of a sudden that has changed. Now they even got shows and articles where sexual topics are openly discussed.

Personally I think it's rather refreshing. In Western Europe we were far ahead of you guys. Here it's normal to see full frontal nudity on sites that are aimed at teenagers. So I always felt that I had to held back, whenever I posted on Gamespot. But not anymore.

IT still has some ODD control parameters and will auto edit for the goofiest reasons. My time in Europe started with a culteral shock, walk into a store and see (Example) a box for a heating pad with a topless woman on the box was a mind blower for me, and that was in the early 80's. I beleive that when you don't make it taboo, it is not as enticing or dirty to the mind. You are starting to see more and more of a relaxation of such "morals" in the states, public TV is starting to use words that were part of George Carlin's 7 words you can't say on TV/Radio, and ever a boob flash now and then, but we will NEVER catch up to Europe in this aspect....

As for the spot relaxing, may people have left this site and generated their own due to the overly moderated ability to post, but it is relaxing. Personally, I don't like to see foul language and don't expect to see nudity here, as I wouldn't want my 8 or 9 year old to be subjected to it, but I was raised by a minister and it is not like anyone who can click a computer button can't find much worse in about 3 seconds. There is a fine line to acceptable some times, but I don't want it to be on a gaming site that it must be determined.

Never say never, you Americans have the habit of doing everything in superlatives. On television you've already surpassed us. With channels like Comedy Central and HBO. And I don't know if you ever watched the Gamespot show Screen Tear, but their last episode was pretty revealing.

I've never understood why people are always so paranoid about young children in relationship to nudity. As they havn't yet reached their puberty, they're simply not interested in it. I remember one time when there had been a fire in a house across my school and the fire department had cleared out all the flammable objects. The majority of which was a very large collection of pornographic magazines. The whole schoolyard was engulfed with it. But except for some boys in the highest grade, no one took notice of them.

I'm very surprised to see GS change it's policy, I wasn't even aware of it until 45 seconds ago... I did appreciate the fact that the site has always been family friendly. However considering the average gamer is in his 30's now, it makes sense. So long as the site doesn't start to sound like a CoD game, I think we'll be alright.

I think Gamespot is simply growing with its core audience... The Nintendo generation now pushing 30+.
