Has anyone played F.E.AR. or Gears of War??
I know F.E.AR. was originally on PC, but it's real good on the 360 and Gears of War is just a great game overall.

Honestly, I dislike both games. When it comes to FPS, FEAR isn't really that impressive, nothing I havn't seen before. Gears of War's campaign was pretty good I though, but really short... the multiplayer just isn't fun to me either.

I really liked FEAR. I thought the story was well done and the feel was great. technically it was your standard fps in a warehouse but with better physics. the only think that really stood out was the AI and physics. This is for pc that i played.

I played FEAR on the PC and really enjoyed it ... I don't like FPS on consoles so I can't comment on it there.  I agree with the earlier post- nothing ground breaking in FEAR just looks really nice and plays well, I passed on multiplayer - much better games out there for that.  Still - if you had to choose - a FPS like HalfLife kicks butt on FEAR.

Gears of War - I avoided this game at first.  Another testosterone laden shooter for the xBox - yeah yeah - I been dying to see some orginal gameplay come out and I am bored of the great games always being shooters.  BUT, finally resigned and got it (it is third person and a console game) and it is a sheer pleasure becuase it is the example of taking a game into the new generation.  It's just beautiful to watch and play - maybe a couple of years from now we will be able to forget it because there will be great games for the 360 like Panzer Dragoon Orta was for the xBox or Shadow of the Colossus was for the PS2 - but for now we have Gears of War and I'm ok with it.  Just my humble onpinions expressed here :)

Haven't played FEAR, but I own Gear.  I avoided, like Digimod, but bowed to the pressure when I saw a used copy for sale at GameStop about a week after it came out.  My first impression:  it's awesome.  A couple of months later,  paying it only occasionally -- amazing.  Great replay value, great fun online, hard if you want to be, easy if you don't.  Most games I buy and trade as soon as I've finished them orgrown bored of them.  Like Oblivion, though, Gears has a special place among games I'll keep as long as I have the 360.

I play more Gears than Halo 2, and I just bought a new copy of it.

I'll tell you what, though: Splinter Cell: Double Agent? That's where the multiplayer goodness is at!

Now, if I could just find enough people that play the last four maps so I can get the rest of those stupid achievements...

I prefer Gears over FEAR. But Halo 3 wins for me.
