Officer election: vote here

Hi all well it's midnight here in New Zealand so I suppose that means that a week has passed and it's now time to vote in the replacement for STWELCH.

The format is essentially the same as the last election, each member will have ten votes to distribute to whichever candidates s/he would like. We will spend one week voting and then I'll announce the winner and give them a shiny "offcr" badge. These are the rules that the election will proceed by:

-Only current Union members may cast their vote. If you join just to participate in the election your vote will be null and void.

-Each voter must distribute no more and no less then 10 votes. Even if you have a second account you may not cast an extra ten votes.

-All votes are final, consider carefully who you want before you post because you wont be allowed to make any post hoc changes.

-In the event of a draw we will hold a second round of voting to decide between the two candidates.

Okay well I think that's about all, allow me to introduce the candidates. They are as follows:

1 vote to Lansdowne5. Lansdowne you've also been here for a long time and you've provided some great contributions and much needed diversity. Despite some idealogical differences about censorship you deserve a vote.

2 vote to danwallacefan. Jake you've been an awesome gadfly for this union. I disagree with you almost all the time but I reckon you would make a decent officer so you get two votes.

1 vote to -Sun_Tzu-. Sun you haven't been here very long but I've seen the quality of your posts and your character so you get the last of my votes.

Thanks for counting the votes Lans. Here's an interesting tidbit for everyone, danwallacefan is not an actual member of this union. Until he joins up (which I've PMed him about) he cannot vote.

Now the very perceptive people here will probably tell me that this would be in violation of the first rule I set out which would be correct. In danwallace's case though I think an exception can be made since he's pretty much a member in all ways apart from appearing in the members section.

Yeah tell me about it. I really wish I had of noticed that before I made this topic.

If danwallace fan isn't a member then I can't promote him to officer, simple as that. If he wins the election but doesn't join then I'll just have to award the runner up with officership.

Please though could everyone vote as if danwallacefan was in fact a member of the union. Don't let this little hiccup effect your voting choices.

I vote for whomever is actually an atheist in that list and has the most votes. I haven't been paying much attention lately but the Atheist Union should at least have an atheist at its head IMO.blue_hazy_basic

In theory I agree with you, but this union, but despite the name is for people of all or no faiths.  I've had behind the scenes discussions several times about adding a devout theist to the officer ranks, I think it would serve us well.

From what I know MetalGear_Ninty is the only atheist in the runnings. Lansdowne is a young earth creationist, danwallacefan is a Christian, Android339 is a Mormon and -Sun_Tzu- is a....... pantheist? (sorry Sun I never quite figured out exactly what you are).

If you want to make your vote official you now know what the candidates believe or do not so you can pick who your ten votes go to. Given that there is already a strong atheistic presence here I'd rather you choose who you think will be a good leader though.

I'm not all that big on labels, because I think they are somewhat limiting, but I am an atheist in the sense that I reject theism.

And it isn't absurd to describe me as a pantheist.
