Oh sweet, I didn't realise it was up already, excellent so far, thunderf00t really is the perfect guy for the debate though, he is not distinguished or well known (at least out of the internet) enough to lend Ray Comfort's position credence like someone like Dawkins would if he actually went to the trouble of debating him, but is extremely knowledgeable, calm and well reasoned to make Comfort look like a bumbling child in comparison.
I finished watching it last night but then I went to bed because I had to get up for work in 5 hours. Overall it was pretty good.
Ray started off by putting forth the typical cosmological argument and asking Thunderf00t where everything came from and whether or not any scientist can make something out of nothing. Then the conversation went on to ethics and the teleological argment which touched on a number of rather interesting points. You might expect the subject of evolution to have prominently arisen but it didn't really, it was only discussed briefly and predictably Ray made an ass of himself by saying that lizards which have speciated cannot reproduce simply because of infertility. Lastly they discussed the Bible which Thunderf00t had been recently reading. This part was okay but I feel that Ray convincingly answered Thunderf00t's questions and criticisms.
Overall it was a polite, gentlemanly and worthwhile debate. They didn't read pre-prepared material they just had an off the cuff discussion which was nice.
Go ahead and give it a watch everyone.
Some points I thought were interesting:
Ray admitted the only way to differentiate between a figment of the imagination and god was the bible, that his belief was comfort based, that speciation occurs (or was it just infertile salmon  ), life is in the blood yet there is no blood at conception, he was also completely lost at the baby with no head example, that god created the mechanisms that create snow (so why not the mechanisms to create the diversity of life?), Anything else?
Also provided a brilliant contrast between how their two minds worked.
The video caused VFX to come out of hiding

There's been a depressing lack of politeness and mutual respect in both camps, so it makes me very happy to see the debate described as "polite, gentlemanly and worthwhile". I'm going to go watch it now. :)

Whoah man he sounds pissed off. I laughed at him demanding that Thunderf00t delete every one of his videos.
Impressions: Ray seemed to be all about the generic christian talking point.
The background noise was fairly noticeable.Â
It was more civil than i expected it to be.Â
A lack of bananas.... I would have loved it if Ray brought a banana, and TF gave a brief account of the problems with this argument.
Other than that i think tooltime's sentiments regarding the debate were fairly similar to mine.Â
Â
I really liked TF's reflection video.Â

Shawns video, was as bad as i expected. Tooltime made a good response

I'm somewhat of a fan of Thunderf00t's and I'm actually quite disappointed with his performance in this discussion. TF hardly troubled Comfort throughout the debate, to the point where the vast majority of the points he made were easily dismissed by Comfort without much challenge. In fact, the only times I were impressed with Thunderf00t, is when he enticed Comfort to blunder his way through the salmon discussion, and also when he presented the predicament of deriving morality from scripture. Unfortunately though, these incidents were an exception to the norm. Furthermore, the absence of evolution in the discussion of the teleological argument seemed like an appeasement to Comfort's ignorance on the subject, allowing him to comfortably manouvere through TF's arguments.
My verdict: It was far too comfortable for Comfort.

Nice pun. :P
Thanks, y'know, I try to do my best. 8)I watched it a couple days ago and found it was a good debate. Thunderf00t could of definitly pushed harder on some subjects but from watching his reflection video on the debate, I sort of understood why he didn't. I also think it would have been better if they had a set of points they were going to discuss. I don't think they focused enough on some points like evolution, etc. Nevertheless. it was an interesting debate.Â
Oh, the part about speciation was rather funny.Â

While I on one hand agree with you that neither side pushed the other very hard on several points, that was also a large part of what made the debate stay civilized. To me, that's a good trade-off. :)My verdict: It was far too comfortable for Comfort.

Yeah, I'm not saying that Comfort got the better of the debate or anything like that. The difference between the two being that Comfort is already a high status debater, and can do this sort of thing many, many times. Thunderf00t however is much less well known, and I some how feel because this may be his 'only shot' so-to-speak, so that he really had to try and bring the fight to Comfort which I don't feel he did.

Only shot to do what? :P I think God himself could appear and agree with one side over the other and still no one would change their mind.

His only shot to get himself noticed amongst the whole debating crowd i.e. to get himself a debating role outside of youtube.I supposse, but then debating, especially in the types of the debates these guys participate in is rarely about making the other guy change his mind.

Does he actually want that?
If he does, I think MGNinty is right and Tunderf00t could have done a better job pushing and presenting several of his points. However, Comfort is, as has been mentioned, already an established debater of some status and to agree to do a debate like this with a YouTube Celebrity (for lack of a better word--no offense meant to Tunderf00t) is very generous of him. I can easily imagine that a lot of Thunderf00t's behavior and debating techniques were out of a desire to not offend or come across as rude. Maybe not good for a debate, but certainly understandable.[QUOTE="MetalGear_Ninty"]His only shot to get himself noticed amongst the whole debating crowd i.e. to get himself a debating role outside of youtube.GabuEx

Well, the mere fact that he did this with Comfort indicates that he wants to debate with those other than the like of VenomFangX.But you may be right, , Thunderf00t doesn't seem like he'd be the most comfortable person in a public forum, and he may be content with his current online status. Whether he wants it or not though, I do feel he missed an opportunity that doesn't come by very often.
NO FRIGGING WAY thunderf00t got suspended and a few days ago Dprjones was also suspended, damn those false DMCAing bastards. Ingenemployee
Oh man that's random. Oh wells I'm sure he'll be back in a while, too bad for everyone who hasn't watched the debate yet.
I personally like his accent. It's English, if I'm not mistaken (and if I am, that proves how dumb I am). Hehe, this sounds weird, but I like hearing Richard Dawkins talk just because of his voice and accent. Even though I don't necessarily agree with all his conclusions about the non-existence of God.Yes it seems English to me too. But although I like English pronunciation (like Ian McKellens for instance) every time I hear thunderf00t I feel like grasping for air. :P

I just cant discern what he says easily. :P
