I guess to an extent it's probably better in the sense that before you had to be careful whenever putting 8) in a post and intending for it to be displayed that way.
Considering that I've seen a lot of you all use it quite frequently, I wouldn't say it's not a bad update. ^^ lol Sure they could be working on some other things, but those other things are probably a LOT more complicated than a simple emoticon which wouldn't take barely any coding to change.

Indeed. I don't check the community blog as much as I used to, but it would've nice to at least let people know about it. It's not even mentioned by Jody in the thread about the emote at the EF board...

If you ask me, there are no html errors, the problem are the users who don't know any html. I never get html errors, and the few times that I do I can always detect why it's giving an error and fix it easily.

If you ask me, there are no html errors, the problem are the users who don't know any html. I never get html errors, and the few times that I do I can always detect why it's giving an error and fix it easily. Well if that's the case it doesn't look like they'll be fixing that... guess I need more practice/experience to know any possible error in forum messages that can cause html malfunction. I know they won't fix the flood error, since getting rid of that or even decreasing it could cause more spamming.

The flood error isn't a problem, that's something that was built into the system on purpose. As for the HTML errors, yeah it's the user's fault, not the system's (unless you use the editor possibly). If you turn off the editor and know just a little bit of HTML then you shouldn't get any errors ever, unless you are working with a post given to you by someone using the editor. I've been given huge walls of text before which doesn't work because the person who gave it to me was using the editor so it looked nice in that format, however in reality it doesn't work, and have managed to fix it. Is it fun fixing HTML errors? Obviously no, and it's actually a major hassle since GS doesn't really tell you what the error is and you have to know what to look for yourself, however if you know what you're writing then you can fix any HTML error or prevent them from happening.

Try html linking and it adds something when you try post and then rejects it.
