I think it could work, and you could learn all sorts of "whip skills." Hell, maybe somebody could just mod the existing Diablo II game.

You've been playing too much diablo. Though i do remember one DIablo 2 mod where you had much harder monsters and they were all renamed using Tolkien monsters. The equipment was also changed and new items wre made to reflect Tolkiens lotr universe. IT sounded pretty cool, but i never played it.

Hm... it'd have to be on a console to make it worth playing to me. It's not that I don't like computer games... it's just that I think Castlevania should stay away from computers. So it'd have to be played with a controller for maximum responsiveness. Also, I don't want a keyboard involved in any way because that would detract from action based gameplay. Also, I don't really want it to play like Diablo II because I'm not fond of an overhead view approach to Castlevania. So those things aside.. it'd be a bit like Symphony of the Night... you know... except good.

Then maybe have it a little more like the Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance games? That could work.

I'd have to have played those games to know what you're talking about, i've seen them being played though, and they don't seem too bad though. I guess it could work.

Actually, that overhead, somewhat-distant perspective would work good when you're getting attacked by thousands of enemies. They could tweak that engine to make it more platform based as well as introduce more melee combat moves.

It could be angle overhead and I'd like it. I'd still like to be able to use the whip in three dimensions though... it'd get way to hack and slash with a straight overhead view.
