could it be that he had a whole slew of moves to use, most of which just oozed with awesomeness in the eye candy department. Of course i enjoyed playing as Leon, he kicked some major ass and looked good doing it (he just sounded horible in english).
My personal favorite protagonist would have to be Alucard. I have a bias towards that game as it was the hook that reeled me into the castlevania world.
